Matrix leadership supposed to be an something special (knowledge and wisdom of Primes all store in it) but it turn into nothing more than just a side artifact. Arcee was supposed to be the tough female character but Bay killed her off easily.

From what very little i know about TFA, the Dinobots are not technically alligned with the Autobots. When the key was used on them it just marked them with the Autobot insignia.

They don't have the same programming. The effects of Bumblebee's and Ratchet's EMP combo along with the Allspark key powering said attack caused an alteration on thier bodies, which allowed them to transform and think. They were born of an accident, not of Autobot programming.

Although they have Autobot symbols on their frames, the Dinobots haven't actually aligned themselves with the Autobots. The symbols were there from the first time each of them transformed (Grimlock first, then Swoop and Snarl later).

At first I liked Grimlock, and don't get me wrong, I hope they show more of the Dinobots in Season 3. But they are trying him stupid when he really sounds slightly intellegent, if he could grammatically form sentences.

The point of Grimlock and other Dinobots was that they were simple minded. TFA Grimlock is alot smarter than G1 Grimlock, which is the problem.

I think this Big Grim's a good mix between the two. His dimwittedness can be played for laughs, or for awesome wild card-ness.

But we don't get much of the awesome wild cardness so far. Part is because he doesn't get much screen time. My favorite moments with him are when he reveals the dinobots ability to transform to Bulkhead and Prowl, and when he met Sentinel. Shame he didn't finish the job with the later.

There was a Deleted Scene originally meant for "Megatron Rising" in which the Dinobots would have ganged-up on 'ol Megs and subsequently get clocked. The animation was below the Producers expectations and Marty Isenberg preferred to keep the Dino's combat reputation solid.

I think the story should have the Dino's warming up fully to the Autobots cause and getting "prehistoric" on some Decepticon skidplates.
