Syd Barret somehow bring me to your music. Your music is great. You are a major label material. I'd like to learn more about your band (members, equipment), but on your website there are not many information. Keep on great job.
I love this song: vocals remind me a bit of Duncan Sheik. Did you have flat monitors when mixing? Sounds fine on my KRK's but on other speakers it's boomy: Waves shows a 10db increase from 25hz, peaking at 70hz, on through 92hz. Pulling this down 7db helped. Your vocals are way too good to be tucked so far down in the mix and could use a +4db boost :-)
Re: the low vocals: I've heard a lot of songs where having the vox lower in the mix works, and in my (humble) opinion, it works here, for sure. It brings the music out more, and since the music is so complex, that's a good move. I like.
I'm a big fan of your stuff , and think it'll be criminal if you don't get at least 1 CD release... maybe you could finance your own release , you seem to have some cash (judging by all the gear ) my only constructive critisism would be: VOCALS , bring them up in the mix( R U SHY?) these songs do deserve a good vocalist who could give it that little bit extra that may get you a recording deal ... well done though... you have more talent than 95% of youtube amatures
Thanks. I can't see the point of CDs nowadays - all my tracks are already available for download - if anyone really wants to make a CD (why?) they can do so. Also I prefer my own vocals to anyone else's - not because I think I'm a singer, I just want to sing my own songs. I don't want them to sound like someone else.
I do wonder sometimes about cutting some vinyl for nostalgic reasons.
I understand ! , i have this thing about my own vocals too , i do similar things to you , but so many unfinished tracks.... my voice is a bit like matt johnsons ... but i really struggle with some registers. this song is really really growing on my and i'm getting more used to your vocal BUT like i said , remix it... bring the vocals up abit
on about my 10th listen today , now... the chorus is fcuking amazing !!! very addictive tune.... stay in touch , maybe i'll do a couple of vids for my stuff and i'd appreciate your comments
Hey Daniel! Greetings from Brazil. I´ve just discovered your work as I was browsing through Smiths stuff and must say: Wonderful Job!!! Really nice songs and lyrics, all carefully produced, mastered and mixed. I hope you achieve the billboard's soon. GL
Bloody hell, Daniel. This is just amazing. I love your chord progressions; very non-linear. Never really heard you do much with effected 12's either. I am really digging the sound (I am starting to do it too). Thanks a lot!
I like it. Not as good as the others on your debut album, but it's pretty solid. Still waiting for your "Untitled Backing Track" to have lyrics and a title to it though. :)

You have a fan here. I like all the production as well as your drum patches. Good use of syncopation.

I really dig the drum patches you used for that particular tune - much more presence and the snare sounds great.
What sound bank are you using anyway?

It was really good until the drums kicked in. The toms and high hat are off by quite a bit.
Sucks too--you're a great guitarist. Redo that drum track homeboy!
kidcorporeal 3 years ago
I totally disagree. The drums all sound exactly how I want them.
danielearwicker 3 years ago
Dude, seriously. Something is off. Everything is fine up until the :49 mark and then it sounds like a sloppy metronome kicked in.
kidcorporeal 3 years ago
You're watching the wrong channel. Go and search for "Boring films of perfectly accurate metronomes pointlessly ticking away for hours".
