  • Cain and Abel are the sons of of Adam and Eve, not their brothers.

  • WTF

    translation "What the fetch"

  • To hear the current Church leaders are calling the earlier Church leaders clearly prejudice comments towards Blacks as dross just shows how a totalitarian regime works. Lets hope the History books are never written by the Mormons

  • There's no specifying as to what views or speculation is classified as an equivalent of dross (just as an FYI that was my word for the essence of what I remember since I didn't recall it verbatim), and it's not as though giving one's perspective on the status of something erases or eliminates it from the archives. So I don't get this tie to a 'totalitarian regime' comes in unless the whole of the populace is lazy and apathetic, but then it's the populaces fault for it's captivity.

  • You don't have to dance around it, the mark placed on Cain was Blackness. Canaanites were black skinned. Ham the son of Noah married a Canaanite and there for preserved the "mark" so when the Ark lands they have the black seed of mankind preserved. The curse with regards to the priesthood came when Ham looked on his Father Noah when he was drunk and naked in the tent. I'm sure you are going to get to this.

  • While I think it's probable that this is the case with the mark of Cain I don't know for certain. Though it is clear with the curse of Canaan (different from the curse of Cain) that a mark of dark skin accompanied that. But aren't you aware of whites who were considered of the seed of Cain that were denied the Priesthood under the same ban?

  • To believe that the black race came from the descendants of Ham about 4,000 years ago as Mormons clearly do is wacky. When it comes down to it Mormons believe we are all the descended of white people Adam and Eve. I believe we are all the descended of black people that came out of Africa that evolved from the common ancestor between man and ape.

  • Do you believe that the Book of Mormon is wrong in stating what happened to the Laman and Lemuel?

  • I believe they and their group could have been change to black skin but get this as we are studying the Book of Mormon this year when I brought up this point that they are said to have become like unto flint = black our Sunday school teacher said you think that means black, I take that to mean they were hard. More PC crap in the Church.

  • "And I said unto them: If God had commanded me to do all things I could do them. If he should command me that I should say unto this water, be thou earth, it should be earth; and if I should say it, it would be done."

    Do you believe this?

  • I would never limit God to anything. Logic and the evidence however dictates a different story and I would never turn my back on that due to something that may be misinterpreted. The Church still hold to all the continents dividing in the days of Peleg four generation after Noah that has to be less than 4.5K years ago it is just nutty to believe that.

  • rd1999,

skin color is determined by how fast your intracellular vacuoles can digest pigmentation. It really is that simple.

  • so are you saying God did it or tens of thousands of years did it over the natural process of adapting to a new environment and that all humans having evolved in Africa and moving out to other climes with less light developed lighter skin as an adaptation as logic would dictate there for making us all the product of Black me rather than the a White man, Adam 6K year ago.

  • first of all

"God did it or tens of thousands of years"

I don't know if God did it or if man did it to themselves. Or even if they started eating some plant root that blocked vesiscle function. there are too many unknowns to be exact.

I really don't think we can say that man started 6K years ago. It looks like Biblical man started 6K years ago though.

Our genetic understanding is still "ambigious at best".

  • "Biblical man"?!! is there any other kind?

  • ""Biblical man"?!! is there any other kind?"

you must not have taken evolution at BYU?

  • The closest I got to BYU was the MTC. I have had correspondent with the Geology department and I know they teach Millions of year as one would hope. They also teach that a Global flood is a myth which I found encouraging.

So how do you work pre-Adamites into the fall? Are we not all the posterity of Adam? I have always had my doubts.

  • I've not heard the white people being band but Brigham Young said if a man had one drop of black blood in him he could never hold the priesthood so that would not surprise me

  • Didn't recall seeing this comment.

I'm only aware of the statement of mixing blood with the seed of Cain, and there have been whites that have been denied the priesthood on account of being the Seed of Cain.

  • "loathsome" I had a black girl friend in high school and I found her very attractive. I still find many other races very delightsome to the eye. Male a female there is beauty in every race, I'm sure you agree.

  • Note the totality of the verse (I'll note here that I'm presently in love--extremely--with a daughter of Lehi, one of the aiding factors is the fact that I don't know of a woman more beautiful than her) "I will cause that they shall be loathsome unto thy people, save they shall repent of their iniquities."

How familiar are you with the concept of epigenetics?

  • Epigenetics thanks to Wikipedia i now know something about it

  • It's kind of amazing to me, and scary, to think that one's actions not only can turn on and off genes in their own being, but can effect what's on and off in their children and grandchildren. Everyone that does something that they think only effects themselves are now demonstrably wrong. Our actions truly are etched into our mortal tabernacles, and in those of our children also.
