  • take off the glove and the mma will lose big time

  • @ashcrimsonl

Don't use matts and those slams would have been devastating.

  • @Stahlvanten have you ever seen a professional mma fighter participate in a karate tournament? they're afraid to throw punches bcos all their punches rely on strength thus easy to cause injury to their hands.

martial arts like jeet kun do and karate never rely on strength all the time. thats why u can see a lot of masters still going strong even as they get older

    thus my comment

  • @ashcrimsonl

Huh? Maybe in Kyokushin and Ashihara where you don't wear gloves and its full contact but this guy is a Shotokan fighter most probably and there they wear gloves and is semi contact.

And that that they only throw punches 100%, well yes in some cases, but those fighters doesn't train under the old Vale Tudo/No Holds Barred-rules were no gloves is allowed or have a good training in boxing. A good boxer _never_ throws his/her punches with full power all the time.

  • beginners

  • I think in this case the first meeting in MMA stands for modern rather than mixed?

  • looks like a yellow belt vs orange belt to me.

  • This absolutely IS karate! I train in full contact okinawan shorinryu and it looks very much like this. The traditional okinawan styles of karate have stand up techniques (kick, punch, joint locks, pressure point strikes, etc.) AND throwing and grappling techniques. Unfortunately, the "karate" that most people are familiar with nowadays is a spin off of mainland Japanese shotokan (which was most widely exported outside Japan). Many MMA techniques actually have roots in okinawan karate.

  • shouldn't this read more like "amateur kick boxer vs. amateur kick boxer"?

  • which ones which ??

  • This is clearly not karate this is a rabble karate is to kill or knock out with one technique, they need a master class with yahara sensei

  • @ArticxChannel

That's bullshit bro and only taught by bullshido masters on mcdojos. Full contact karate looks somewhat like this...

  • Yea this isnt karate

  • not enough grappler works by mma player

  • this is not karate this is shit

  • @0thRside What's the difference?

  • they both have belts anyway

  • mirageF1AZ I'd have to agree with the other guy.. Karate rules are too soft. Idk about kickboxing ruled but I fight in MMA matches. With karate, it's MUCH easier and foamed as well, you don't have to worry about being elbowed right in the fucking eye after a hook (if Any in karate) in karate class.. They taught dead drills. Where the example would stand still and would resist. Trying those "karate" combos in mma would certainly be canceled out with the slightest of resistance.

  • @PictureJohnBroken There are two styles in karate. Firstly WKF is the type of karate you are talking about wich is soft (they want to make it an olympic event). They dont alow contact. And then you get traditional karate kumite wich is hard and is practiced without gloves. The latter is not verry popular because allot of moms dont like their kids getting pounded.YOu can just go look up KWF karate (the afiliation im from) and see we are the most brutal form of shotokan. I wil answer questions u have

  • this is one of the most aggressive "karate" fights ive ever seen...and these guys are better suited to muay thai. for real. they clinch like every other second. good fight though.

  • In Russia, you not do Karate, Karate do you...

  • o wow wtf im a black belt in alot of arts and one of them is karate and that is soooooooo not karate!!! first hes attacking!! karat is an art of self deffense like countering attacks not attacking head on as shown! And mma that is sooooo not mma hes all over the place mma has a basic mine set on one thing not so wild!!!! both of theseguys are a joke!!! I would know!

  • @parkourrunner7 I Don't Think You Know, And I Don't Think You're A Black Belt of Anything

  • Yeah, I don't know about the fellow in the black gi, but the white gi is definitely not MMA. He's Karate... Kyokushin Karate, I'm pretty damn sure... or it looks a hell of a lot like the Kyokushin dogi.

  • yellow belt vs red belt gosh wrong matching

  • I dont see any karate moves

  • Where's the mma? I didn't see any. Maybe it because every time he took him to the ground the ref would make them get back up, I saw no ground game no kicking no attempts at submissions.... That guy either doesn't do mixed martial arts or the the rules in that gym didn't allow him to do actual mma, idk maybe its just me

  • I like the basai dai in the background =)

  • Karate owns!!!

  • if they had mma gloves on. the fight wouldve been over since the begining

  • @marathoner92 MMA gloves are sissy gloves. Try KWF karate mits, you might as well not have any mits.

  • At the beginning someone farted.

  • heyy i'm 100% sure that the the white gi is karate because the wirting on his gi is japanese and he also says 'hus' at the end of the fight which is a word used to denote respect in karate.

  • what the fuck i bet that is probably american karate since it suck so much

  • @ImDeathNote first off retard. id like to see u do better if u went up against either one of them you would die right there. so stop rippen on them. at least they can take a hit

  • @buddha1298 american karate = gay useless piece of shit wondering why they are fat? the secret is FAST FOODS HAHA

  • the karate dude got messed up

  • Lol I think he's trying to quickly adapt to some sort of a different style to fight the MMA guy and doesn't know what the hell to do. Haha. Again Note the Try. xD

  • Very poor karate... He is on one foot half the time, and thats not when he is kicking either.

  • Stop hugging him! >:(

  • Buenas proyecciones, se deja ver lo falente que es el karate

  • MMA v karate, where the fight gets stopped and restarted every time the MMA guy takes it to the ground?

    Lol.

  • The nature and purpose of the Martial Way is universal. All selfish desires should be roasted in the tempering fires of hard training. The Martial Way begins with one thousand days and is mastered after ten thousand days of training.

    Oss

  • How does these guys have belts beyond white? Looks like they just picked two guys of the street and gave them belts, gi and boxing gloves..

  • 3:09...worst slam ever

  • Seems a little agressive for a work out. No good getting hurt training and not being able to fight when it really counts. Stupid...

  • Ever heard of straight punches?

  • full contact with boxing gloves?? meh...

  • OMFG... PEOPLE

    WHITE = KARATE

    BLACK = MMA

    STOP, BEING STUPID

  • @magnatomicTJS no. read the description next time

  • @magnatomicTJS lol, stop being stupid and learn how to read.

  • the guy in the white gi is karate too maybe okinawan the two guys were beginners

  • i didnt see karate the guy didnt have form and i didnt see any karate technique in the fight , it looks more like a street fight my guess is that the karate guy was a noob ossu!

  • lol sad the karate guy doesnt want to grapple

  • MMA FTW :D

  • SanShou (with an S) is the same thing as sanda. Basically Chinese MMA..

  • karate is a fucking joke.

  • hahahahahahah what a clown the karate guy!!xD this video is fucking hysterical hahahahahahah

  • where is the MMA component when the ref is breaking them up when they have a take down.

this is MMA with one arm behind your back. All the rules are benifiting the KungFoo guy.

    what a joke

  • they both are a joke. Also... karate doesn't have black Gis

  • @razielpld theyre not elite standard for sure, but neither are anything close to a joke, especialy seeing how hard it is to grapple with boxing gloves on.Many karate styles use black gis, kenpo has always worn black for example, have you just emerged from under a rock.

  • @billysue2 , Traditional karate Gis are white with two belts - brown for the initiates, and black for masters. In Japanese martial arts, kenpō is used to designate Chinese martial arts, which means it is not even near karate. Anyway, I am not emerging from under a rock, on the contrary - I am training Shotokan karate, and have deep interest in martial arts.

  • @billysue2 Another thing that strikes me is how this karate guy is fighting. He is fighting like a boxer throwing away every karate principle; his stance, the way he attacks with single attacks and waits to be hit ... f**k he is wearing an orange belt - this is about 2 years of training.... he should have learned to attach with multiple techniques by now.

Look at this video if you have time, this are some good moments from Shotokan kumite.

  • @razielpld

Yeah they do. There's a black gi in my closet right now and I took Isshinryu -_-

Not saying all Isshinryu wears black but it's out there.

  • excuse me youtube is their a way to go to a diffrent country and challenge outher mma schools in like a fight or spar because i wannah do that i want to start with the crazyest which is russia i heared their all deciplined and i want a challenge by the way {check out my page} for you guys can see why i want to challenge outher people kk :)

  • Where exactly is the MMA?... when both are stood up when it hits the ground.

  • @PokerVertigo are you blind, its not an mma fight its a modified rules full contact with limited groundwork allowed,1 guy supposedly trains mma but dont know why theyre wearing gis

  • @billysue2 Maybe you're the blind one.. I saw no MMA in it, the title suggested MMA... so what if one guy trains MMA, I saw no MMA in it, so I posted that comment... Go back to getting raped by your two homo sexual dads.

  • @PokerVertigo there is plenty of mma in this, mma means that striking and grappling is allowed in full contact format. Its not mma rules and the title doesnt say it is

  • @billysue2 I guess I was also talking about the referee saying "break or stop" every now and then... made it look like sancho than mma... where there's a little bit of grappling and full contact kickboxing...

  • @PokerVertigo you mean sambo or sanda.. not sancho

  • @pooslayer123 Nah, misspelled it, I meant San Chou... It is the martial art that Cung Le uses.

  • @PokerVertigo SanShou (with an S) is the same thing as Sanda. SO you did mean to say sanda.

  • @pooslayer123 lol ... ya

  • @ the beginning the fight looks like that of a movie, but then later on (when the fighters tire out) the fight almost seems as if two drunkards were fighting.

  • the black gi has forgotten to be calm in every fight but the white gi is calm and he keeps taking him down

  • both are promising athletes, thats for sure. White has decent technique while black has great bursts of energy and stamina to continuously shoot them off. Hehe but without gloves it wouldve ended on the ground after the first take down :)

  • yeah of course when the karate guy gets his ass kicked everyone says "oh he doesn't know what he's doing, that's not karate" I mean really who are you trying to fool?

  • mma= mixed martial arts

  • Its not MMA if you have boxing gloves on. you lose to many things you can do to be called mma

  • I've only practiced xing yi quan, and not karate or mma, so I'm not expert, but that karate guy is... not good.

  • i would say sanshou and not mma except sanshou looks cooler.

  • wow they suck

  • um... there both different belts, and the guy in black isn't standing quite right. he's all off ballance.

  • boxing gloves??? fucking kidding me

  • The MMA keeps body slamming him, if that was concrete the karate guy be dead lol

  • @Fired88 heard of breakfalling???

  • @Fired88 yeah, but against a sensei... well.. they can break piles of concrete bricks and marbles like nobody's business :D

  • Wtf style of karate was that? his form was terrable

  • whit gi looks more like Kyokushin plus wrestling

  • mma? if im not mistaken that guy seems Kyokushin karate plus wrestling (yellow belt in kyokushin is before brownbelt)

  • im a karate shotokan brown belt and i have training 1yr bjj and mma, i beat many mma figthers in my gym, but i stop my karate training because i think we spend a lot of time doing katas.

now i like more mma and bjj.

any way karate have some good tecniques and i like the karate timing and strikes..

  • Fellas... It's man beats man. Not style beats style.

  • karate huh?? what stye? this guys stance and form are a joke.

  • @slater58 That's bullshit. Trie to fight an experienced karate guy and u'll get knocked out like your head was a softball.

  • @slater58 what r these guys doing ?? looks like kick boxing ???

  • @slater58 :S All these sport thingys... they all don't have stand haven't you noticed? LOL XD

You shouldn't be wearing boxing gloves for a start in a fight :S, that itself loses the hand positions or whatever you call it again.

  • Also what the heck, why's the karate guy in BLACK GI.... :S

  • @vxa1314 I dont think is Karate. He is not using karate moves, it looks more like boxing.

  • Wtf, the black gi guy looks like he's boxing more than karate wtf.

  • ... The black gi guy... what kind of stand is a 1.2 meter long spread out "IM DOING THE SPLITS BUT TRYING TO REACH YOU" stance meant to be? :S

  • Sloppy technique, this vid doesnt need a comment, but Russians are tough.

  • What the hell?!?!

Gloves on someone in karate is not kool

karate would beat mma we have many more things we know .

And yes im in karate and mma "so i know what im saying" dont tell me im wrong unless ur in both.

  • @multigunlover your wrong, your an idiot, any one with basic bjj ans wrestling would smash a bb in karate with in seconds.

  • @multigunlover not in both but if karate would beat mma why is the ufc champion not a pure karate fighter

  • im saying without rules

  • @multigunlover krav maga ios king without rules....

in my experience karate classes i have been to have been useless...more about stretching than fighting but the mma/sub wrestling i wen to was stuff you could apply straight away

  • black belt in karate and mma for 3 years at the moment. ur not wrong completely, some karate fighters would beat mma fighters, but vice versa can happen as well. its all about the fighter.

  • To be completely honest, karate is too one-sided compared to MMA fighting. Having a good ground game is essential for being a good martial artist, when approx 90% of the fights within mixed martial arts go to the ground.MMA stands for "Mixed Martial Arts" and most of the fighters there have experience in both stand up fight(muy thai, karate like you and me) and grappling. Saying that Karate is better than MMA would be the same as saying that "its better to brush your teeth without toothpaste".

  • I'm a black belt in Shorin Ryu Karate... if this guy is karate based.. i don't see it at all. Hes aweful.

  • I think he should avoid certain grapple positions when going up against a MMA fighter because most of them seem to have a history of Brazilian Jui jutsu.

The "Karate guy" seems like an idiot. Too much wasted rushes, wasted opportunities and predictable movements. (*sigh* He makes karate look bad =[ )

  • White Gi and his sick ass takedowns.

  • certain styles also proved far more effective than others for certain aspects of combat, some arts have proven totally useless and others probably never existed before the chinese cultural revolution. styles often make the fighter too

put a student of 6 months at a serious muay thai gym against a student with a year of most any traditional art and watch the traditional guy get destroyed. a fighters general approach to training is the single most important factor in their fighting ability

  • the karate guy (black) really sucks ! look at how he attacks: launcing himself ahead. noob idiot

  • qith a nice red belt!

  • looks like sambo

  • look people both fighters have closed gloves on so regardless of their styles ( unless it was boxing or kickboxing ) they are forced to fight with strikes ( sloppy ones i might add ) with the occasional sloppy take down. is it mma ? karate ? kick boxing ? who knows who cares . styles are just names there is no one better than another its all on the individual to be driven enough to make it work. are we still on with the bullshit arguing about styles ? really who cares.

  • @ audrey - i agree with your assessment of the video and i wonder why they allowed so much groundfighting with boxing gloves. however, i still care about the style vs style arguments. the subject interests me because so many people still believe traditional styles can stand up by themselves against modern combat sports. im not sure what the losers in this video claim as their style but one thing is clear, the yellow belt won with sport/competition skills over a confused traditional artist

  • i understand why you would be interested in the traditional vs traditional style debate and if im honest i find it to be interesting as well . i find it interesting in the same way one might view a classic car vs a modern car , its great for its time and still has a place but is somewhat un-evolved . i do recognize the importance of the classic traditional styles as the foundation for what we now have but i feel that in the end the evolved style wins most of the time.

  • the white is kyokushin serious u can see the japanese writing on the left of his chest

  • no hes MMA, look at the takedowns hes clearly not a Karateka

  • white gee is kyokushin karate, see it on his gi

  • @slickvertigoflow yes correct smart !!

  • neither one of these has style, if they were not wearing their outfits i wouldnt have a clue what they studied. just look like two guys with gloves fighting

  • dude the karate guy is kickboxing, lol.

  • Its "Muay tha" LOLOL can't even ground n pound.

  • no white gi is mma. it's hard to grapple with boxing gloves on.

  • @rockos414

bullshit, the guy in black is using knees, that come from mauythai MMA fighters use alot if knees in cliches and the guy in white never threw one single knee. which says to me the guy in black is MMA... plus at the end the guy in white does karate respect.... if any is MMA is the guy in black.

  • @quickmantan Just because the guy in black throws a knee or two doesn't make him a muy thai or MMA practitioner. He only clinched up because white was using wrestling double leg takedowns.

  • @rockos414

well what the hell makes you think the guy is MMA because the title says so.. at least i look and work things out for myself.. they are both karate

  • @quickmantan The double-leg takedowns... Do you not read, or do you just blabber about nothing? I don't deny they are both using Karate. If you mix grappling with any form of martial art, it's MMA.

If I were you, I wouldn't try to work things out for yourself. Your reading comprehension is too low for you to figure out anything in life.

  • @rockos414

you spastic if you mix grappling in anything its MMA.. ive dont have to train in mma and ive had fights where ive done double leg take downs before mma existed even existed..

no you think the guy in white is MMA because the title says so your fucking sheep...

your another noob that thinks jujitsu is MMA.. thats why you never seen mma fighters fighting jujitsu masters, cause the MMA guy would get raped.... jujitsu doesnt = mma and neither does karate throws.

  • @quickmantan MMA= Mixed Martial Arts. So if you're mixing styles such as wrestling, karate or jiu jitsu it's a mixed martial art. I don't know how I can be more clear than that.

Not once have I mentioned Jiu Jitsu. I said, "Wrestling." You're debating yourself on the Jiu-Jitsu/MMA issue, since I never took a stance on your ridiculous tangent.

I don't know what you're trying to prove, but you definitely proved you're a dumbass. Have a nice day. I'm done.

  • @rockos414

your dumb ass fuck,, most karate fighters have had training in boxing and other martial arts in their lifetime.. they are still karate friggin fighters.. everybody is mixed martial arts then.. cause i barely know of any martial artist that has only practice one art... dumbass

you have to train MMA, go TO a MMA TRAINING place to learn MMA.. it has become a art in itself for cage fighting.. thats what the word is used for today....

  • @rockos414 when bruce lee introduced jett kund do and mixed martial arts, that was actually mixed martial arts, a person training in their own styles and becoming a fighter using everything they learnt, that was mixed martial arts... MMA which stands for mixed martials arts nowadays especially the term MMA has become a style and genre of its own.. and they use techniques they use in cage fighting..... simple get that into your brain.

  • @rockos414

if you ask to train in \MMA you will be directed to a MMA school that teaches MMA fighting which is cage fighting.. and when you get there.. you do a mixture of basic moves and techniques from 4-5 arts depending where you go.. the school will run days of mauy thai or kickboxing. boxing. jujitsu, and wrestling/basic grapling. this is MMA. and they take only a small amount from each art and teach you only whats effective in the cage.... MMA is now a style.. cage fighting style

  • @quickmantan mma is cage fighting SPORT. I refuse to call it a style. It is not effective outside the ring. And its a jack of all trades so master of none, you are right. It cant do shit is what mma is about. That being said, that karate dude in this video is limited because mma guy is using throws when karate dude is not. So he is limiting himself there, thats why he lost. Thats why sanda is better than them both. You could also tell neither could actually punch and kick properly. they whiff.

  • @Elbottoo

i definitely wouldnt say MMA is useless on the street MMA fighters are really tough, but i dont think 90% of them are very skilled, and comapred to a guy thats trained in any art for years would beat a mma fighter strictly in stand up.. but mma fighters always take it to the ground cause they know themselves..

its like when randy culture fought james toney in mma, before a punch was even throw culture took toney straight to the ground, when toney was slating MMAs stand up not BJJ

  • @quickmantan The reason why mma guys are "tough" is because they spend lots of times strengthening their muscles and conditioning their bodies. But thats not mma specific. Any fighter from any art can do the same, they just dont. And there in lies the difference. Because no matter how good your technique, if you are not conditioned enough, even one lousy punch can knock you out.

  • @cwkinser Actually, TKD has deadly kicks and you're obviously speaking upon WTF-TKD which is more referred to as a sport. ITF-TKD uses both kicks and hand strikes while also executing many counters. But this a common misconception.

Tae - To strike or break with the foot Kwon - To stirke or break with the hand Do- Way or Method :]

  • I think the video is mistitled. The black gi is not just karate. He is also MMA. I can see more striking versatility than Karate, such as Mui Tai. He does lack grappling skills though.

  • Comment removed

  • the black gi his style sucked dokey balls

  • el de blanko es kyokushin karate

    el otro es de mma

  • anyway at least we saw some contact .

  • put some mma gloves on them and mma would show him an ass whoopin alot faster

  • that black guy sucks!!!

  • Kinda hard to grapple with boxing gloves. Well at least he can GnP, Kinda embarrassing for the red belt to lose to a yellow belt though.

  • Both have bad technique.

  • I do know that the tkd roundhouse kick is more "snappy", making it more weaker than the thai kick, but they can punch if they want. The problem is that they are too used to tornament fighting that it becomes a habit to not kick low or punch at all. Otherwise, they'd be possible as good if they train their mentality correctly.

  • So what weaknesses does karate or tae kwon do actually have over muay thai? Ground fighting don't count because that would, of course, beat striking anyway. They seem to have all the same moves, except muay thai has less. Anybody can built strength and flexibility their own way, so physical conditioning doesn't count either.

  • when you say MMA (white gi) are you saying he is MMA because he does a TMA standup style with takedowns? Most people today say MMA is the neo-classic UFC combo of Box/MuayThai, Sambo/wrestiling, BJJ. Which this is not.

Just wondering what your definition is.

  • How? You can't prove a style to be better. Besides, most of these styles aren't taught in terms of sports like muay thai and kickboxing are. Most martial arts were originally meant for killing, which is obviously not allowed in the MMA competitions. How are they put to the test?

  • Did they have the perfect fighter of one style fight the perfect fighter of the other? I doubt it, since they don't exist.

  • FULL CONTACT*

    *with big-ass gloves

  • I think the best fighting style is a mix of these styles:

Punching from western boxing, stand-up from muay thai, Take-downs and take-down defense from freestyle wrestling, and ground game (submissions) from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. At least that's what i get from watching MMA, which is the least restrictive combat sport.

  • All i know is the guy in the far right behind the fighters is freaking super tall.

  • he seems more like a muay thai fighter than a karate fighter

  • russians are fuckin big.

  • Comment removed

  • im no expert at all, but i do have 2 questions:

first: why does the karate guy wear gloves. I know its for safety etc, but A lot of karate techniques requires you to support/grasp/fold or grab with your hands/fingers.. getting gloves on kinda destroys quite some karate techniques..

secondly: at about 1:10, the white guy can hit the black guy in the balls with a knee-kick, or place his leg between the black guy's lag for imbalance.. not sure why they arent going full out on a "full contact".

  • PISSSSS.

  • Karate? What a fucking joke. Only exeption..... Lyoto Machida.

  • Only an idiot would think that, assuming you believe that all karate practitioners have the same skills.

  • If the MMA guy is in the white gi why did he say "OSU" when he won?

  • white guy is karate& other ma, black guy i don't know, but its probably kick boxing. look the style.

  • this is street fight not like martial arts.

  • he really doesnt fight like a karateka does he.
