I'm very aware of Dan John's anorexia. Although sometimes even when people, Johns included, know that they are extremely attractive and are loved for their beauty inside and out they still feel the need to destroy themselves physically and/or otherwise because of their problems. People act as if the guy was in a coma during the worst part of his battle w/ anorexia..I'm sure he still enjoyed if not loved attention for his good looks..he IS only human after all..and there's nothing wrong w/ that.

Someone that cannot see themselves as attractive has a very different reaction to compliments. They don't see the compliments as a compliment, but as a patronizing lie. I'm not saying that he can't enjoy it, but most likely doesn't find pleasure in what he considers pain.

I have to force myself to drink water even, most of the time I'm lucky to get down a waterbottle worth of water in a days time- sometime I don't even get that. I just don't "feel the need" for it though.

What he's playing is a tunable percussion instrument called TIMPANI. You can have one timpani or... how much you of them you can pay. Ive seen orchestras with 8... They come in different sizes so you can reach higher or lower registries... I play them in the Symphonic Band of my university. They're awesome!!!!
