  • I feel that western orchestra should invite him to perform --> I am sure audience would love this kind of cross-over.

  • @zieglerwan true but it was the only way he could've played it on the er hu

  • 細膩版的查爾達斯,每一音節都演奏得很清楚. 我喜歡!

  • Very enjoyable

  • 他这把二胡应该是特制过的吧~

    这声音,比小提琴更加凄凉

  • @FKtuerqisb

    二胡本来就比小提琴凄凉,小提琴的声音是比较华丽的,二胡最大的特点就是凄凉

  • Amazing! How this artist manage to convert this western piece of music for violin into Erhu- a traditional Chinese instrument with only two strings!!!

  • 5:00 perfect!

  • omg ... can't believe Erhu can beat Violin in these kinds of songs

    so impressive

  • Owned?

  • yeah, it's a hungarian folk dance. it's sounds great on this instrument too, not just on violin:)

  • king in strings

  • which instrument it's that ?? (?)

    -.,♥

  • that's an "Erhu", kind of a Chinese violin...

  • I can't believe. It is so great!!!!

  • Oh, I heard of this guy. He's a pioneer in Chinese music. Really amazing guy on two strings.

  • Wow considering the limits of the Er Hu, he did a wonderful job, very pleasing even to this old Hungarian.

  • Love this! :)

  • gbshoes!

This not Gypsy music, may be that Italian the composer, but took it from a Hungarian musical world, folk music!

The czardas (csárdás) Hungarian folk dance and not Gypsy! It would be necessary to improve his mind if he forms an opinion already! an Hungarian

  • Maestro, virtuoso, bravo!!!

  • putos asiaticos!!!

    se la rifan chido

  • No chido, chidisimo!!!

  • really amazing!

  • Heavenly !

  • Heavenly !

  • Heavenly !

  • Great perfomance. This strange instrument sounds beautifuly.Thank you.

  • So does his name Vittorio!

  • why is it strange? It is an Erhu, a traditional chinese instrument, equivalent of the Western violin. IT has only 2 strings versus violin's 4 strings. See how much erhu can do with only 2 strings?

  • lol true... but that doesnt means its more difficult..

  • i don't know erhu can produce such wonderful sound! Great performance! Truly amazing!

  • Meraviglioso brano suonato con questo strumento

Cinese che per la melodia che ci offre è

    grandioso.

    Grazie del video.

  • What a wonderful piece...

  • the best of asian/european music........

  • omg why is his 千金 so high up?? lol

  • My guess is that by placing the qianjin so high up, it will be easier on the fingerings towards the very high notes. Otherwise, all the notes will be so close to each other towards the very high notes.

  • oh i see...thanks...but personally is would find it hard to adjust to all the different fingering positions lol

  • 千斤?

  • Fantástico, hermoso, simplemente GENIAL

  • すばらしい!!

  • Xu Ke, "Xu" being the surname, which in most Asian countries is put in front.

    .

  • does somebody knows the name of the solist?

    it is just great!

  • Fantastico, divino, il non plus ultra.

    Grazie del pregevole video.

  • if you can add a new search tag "urheen",this wonderful melody can be found easily.

  • Out of this world Erhu performance!...he is the man!

  • I like the part beginning at 4:20+ min. But I must say that the accompaniment played slower than the solo Erhu for some part, especially at the fast parts.

  • it's a chinese instrument... an erhu

  • awesome performance, but what instrument is it?

    5 out of 5!!!!

  • that's a chinese instrument....

  • i'm so glad you said you were not sure, cuz you can't be more wrong. btw, eastern asia and middle east has little connection, it's rare to see an eastern asian play a middle eastern instrument.

  • its a fucking ERHU ok not your rababa shit

  • Wow !

  • 真是太棒啦~~~~

    收我為徒吧!!!

  • very good

  • I can't believe you can do harmonics in ErHu. amazing

  • it's really amazing!!

  • killing me..................Amazing

  • not bad

  • PRo!!!厉害!!!!!!!!pro sia man !

  • Explendy . wundefurl . god blassed you . You are a 10

  • Beauitful Soloist! Amazing! Professional!

  • Классно! Пять, нет ШЕСТЬ баллов! Паганини :)

  • Truly praiseworthy, virtuoso performance, which captures that hard to define character of the csárdás, which at one moment wails in deep sorrow, and in the next turns into an insanely happy tune.

As a Hungarian let me correct you <i>stevencheung</i> just a little bit. Although it's true that Hungarian classical music is now one of the most celebrated part of the western musical repertoir, yet the unique sound of traditional Hungarian music is anything but typical western music. -Cont.-

  • -Cont.- Somewhere buried in the cadences and tunes, a nation cultural heritage, which traces itself back somewhere from the Orient. According to the great Kodály and Bartók, that's where its roots are. In a way the music has found its way back home, into the capable hands of Chinese musicians.

  • it's TWO stringed

  • I wish I learned the erhu instead of the violin. The erhu just sounds so much more expressive and dramatic.

  • i disagree. erhu has a smaller resonator which limits its ability to express the sense of agressiveness. the skill of the player is what matter. but it's true that both make beautiful music.:-)

  • Omg that is sooo awesome!

    its only 2 strings!

  • awesome performance!

  • its 2 strings...

  • beautiful... gave me goosebumps.. this is why i love music!!

  • WOW! THAT IS AMAZING!!!

  • Beautifully played straight from the heart. Fabulous technique. . .so clear and wonderfully articulated. Loved it!

  • Can you believe it? This complicated music is played by one string instrument....

  • You should watch another much more difficult piece played by this great musician by searching with this text: Sarasate Zigeunerweisen 流浪者之歌 by 許可 [二胡獨奏]

  • 2 strings.

  • amazing!!

  • I didn't think it was possible ti play harmonics with the Erhu, but it kinds makes sense that this should be possible... Oh, I want to learn it too... I better learn Czardas on the violin first tho!

  • The man is one of the true descendant of the Dragon, the Chinese Ancients who created the world before it was corrupted by the Babarians from the wEST.

  • yeah, and those chinese new year songs played by erhu, aren't those happy? haha

  • you won't find it boring if you get the very gist of erhu performances.

i don't find it boring, i listen to it for almost every night. Czardas, interpreted by this man.

  • I've listened to few versions of this piece played by this chinese instrument, some are played by female and some by male. They are all pleasing. But strangely I seldom heard of other western classical being played by this. Do you know why? Isn't it difficult for other music to be converted into the Erhu? I just don't know why. but I also wonder why the chinese music played by Erhu are all so boring and sad. Why didn't people just compose happy music for Erhu?

  • That's probably because you haven't heard much music for the Erhu. There's plenty of happy Erhu music out there.

    Peace.

  • really?

  • You got the 'sad' part kinda right. but not boring. Its because the nature of the erhu's sound is very sentimental and moaning-crying-like (as most of us already notice), so a too happy piece make it sound stupid, doncha think

  • well actually, no.

try listening to traditional pieces like "racing horses" sai ma. there're so many successful examples of happy erhu pieces.

  • WOW!!

    That was amazing!1

I Loved It I am also familiar with this beautiful piece.

  • haha i have weng chin long's czardas too. he is cool too.

  • oh my god...fantastic...amazing...

  • bravo fantastic this is not dry! this is music, heart!

  • omg i'm speechless! wow! he's such a genius!love czardas,violine and ErHu. *-*

  • OMGGG!!.. i like this.. he plays so great with full of emotions!!..

  • all I can say is WOW! I've been playing Czardas for a a few years and I've never heard it so full of emotion and done in this fasion

  • It is really very good playing. Nice interpretation! Once I tried to play erhu and found it far not easy. Actually I enjoy a lot listening to this instrument. It has sound of nature.

  • Beautiful !

  • Glad you like this version by Chinese instrument. I found that you play violin too. Can you tell me how it is different from the Violin interpretation?

  • None, indeed both sound beautiful.

I think that the instrument's soul is the artist's soul, there isn't an instrument better than other, there is an artists better than other, that's the difference !!
