  • An example of the pleasure in air racing.

  • Great work Tim. I had the pleasure to work on this plane before it went to Reno and won. Congrats from all of us at Peter O Knight maintenance. If you need a hand holler.

  • Electronic ignition is not legal for the class.

  • What a beauty! Were can I find the Technical rules for Formula 1 Air racing?

Any Idea? I was curious about engine mods, What is legal, what is Not.

  • @gunnersdoubleott Invictus is a beauty. I know some about what they can and cannot do to the engines. I am a crew member for this particular aircraft. Its a BONE STOCK Continental 0-200 engine. Same type youd find in a Cessna 150. The only things you can do to it legally is port and polish. Tuned head pipes, and thats really about it. They do a tech inspection before you race and after if you win.

  • @BlueWaterBoat Thanks for the info. so there is no electronic ignition? I was curious as to how they turn those engines so fast. What do they run at 4000-4300 rpm?

  • @gunnersdoubleott To the best of my knowledge nobody runs electronic ignition. I know we dont. Yep they really ring out those little engines. Anywhere from 3800 to about 4350 ish. Just depends on the driver, and how the aircraft is set up.

  • Very nice - congratulations!
