  • Is the pintail 37 high off the ground? I'm considering getting it and I don't want it to be too high

  • Would a setup on a O's pintail 37/40 with red springs be a good setup for carving/cruising with some balls for downhill (not in excess of 45 mph )

  • @ashsokker14 - I suggest the apex 37 for cruising/carving as it sits lower to the ground. All of the other boards use huge risers to negate wheel/hanger bite and sit rather high off the ground making it annoying to push. I do not suggest original trucks for any kind of speed. Even with the strongest spring they are still very loose and very snappy in a turn. With the right bushings regular trucks can turn just as good but handle speeds and be MUCH more durable than original trucks.

  • @PartNinja would what i'm looking for a good cruiser/carver w/ some downhill be a landyachtz switch 37? i'm 5-6' 140lbs?

  • @ashsokker14 - I own a switch 37 myself and use it often. It is certainly good for downhill at any speed. It's a good cruiser since it rides low but curbs and such may give you issues. It can carve decently with a proper setup. I'm running Paris 190s (stock red barrels) and 75mm wheels on mine. Enough clearance for carving and low enough so that pushing is a breeze. Some people don't like the large amount of drop it has though. You may want to look into something with 1" drop or drop throughs.

  • @PartNinja alright cool because i'm just looking for a nice carving/cruising board which the pintail 37-40 looked perfect for and i watched some o's video's and they used the 40 in their pintails video for a nice downhill and it looked great carving and cruising too

  • @ashsokker14 - Dont be fooled by their hype videos. When they are "bombing" hills they aren't really going all that fast. Just seems faster on video with the follow cam. Also notice they are usually just going strait and usually squated down on the board. Very unstable for speed.

  • @PartNinja thats why u get heavier tension springs....

  • @willdoelol - Have you tried all the springs? I have, and I can say they don't make much a difference. You still get wobbles easy and turns are still snappy and divey. I didn't really even feel much a difference between black and white springs.

  • @PartNinja yes i hav, with a heavier tension spring lets u keep the board more tighter without breaking ur wavecams so easily, so u wont wobble so much if u tighten your springs, if u tighten ur black spring alot u can break the cams, with a white or red, u can go tighter, but not as tight with the white ones, once u tighten them, they can go with more control with the trucks, so once ur bombin on a hill u wont suddenly go out of control, it also lets u do more tricks like dancing on a board.

  • @willdoelol - Even with the white springs they are still touchy. Anything 20mph an below is fine. Anything above is still sketchy. They are carvers through and through no matter what you do to them. Randals are still a better all around truck (Heck, even indys with a good bushing setup).

  • @PartNinja the pintails are as low as the apex does dood... i hav both...

  • I hate the look of these things. So ugly.

  • Can you do a drop through deck on those Trucks????

Pleas send me back an awnser

  • @snowcone551 - Due to the design of the truck you can not. They aren't like conventional (Indys) or reverse king pins (Randals) in their design at all. They already ride pretty low as is. You would want to top mount them anyway to get as much grip on the wheels as possible.

  • my trucks squeek and make noises there 2days old aswell.... any ideas on how tight and what grease i should use?

  • hey i wanna get a new longboard and im kinda new to longboarding but not a begginer. i cant pick between a manhatten and a malakai. i do alot of sidewalk riding... any opinions on wat i should get?

  • @monkeymanfiftyfive - Two different boards. One is short and one is long. Depends what you're going for. If you're new to longboarding I wouldn't suggest an original honestly.

  • hey i really wanna buy a origonal longboard with their trucks but ive heard their trucks break ALL THE TIME and im kinda nervous about that because i live in canada and it would probly take at least a week to get to me if something did break... what do you think?

  • @strgandolf - It's true, their trucks aren't that durable. They're fine if you are just cruising and carving on them. If you plan to do more serious long board tricks I would suggest just getting some Independent 215s. With a longer kingpin and some good barrel bushings it can carve almost as tight as Original's but less divey/snappy. Also better for tricks as they are more durable, lighter weight, and actually designed for that sort of thing.

  • I can see the white ones being good for carving at higher speeds so you won't get a lot of speed wobbles.

  • @AskMitchJackson - Honestly, I have tried both the black and the white springs. Nothing will make these less twitchy at higher speeds. They are true low-speed carvers through and through.

  • @PartNinja Defiantly.

  • yes! we do not like potatoes

  • you get all the springs when y oder trucks?

  • @lonninen - No. they are separate.

  • can you use a regular bolt for these trucks?

  • i dont think its a mini longboard its more of a skateboard :|

  • @ThisSydeUp - Mini longboard is a common term used and it is what original calls their mini boards. I don't like to associate these mini boards with regular skateboards as they are not for kick flips and rail grinding. They are more old school and style driven as apposed to tricks which is the basic idea of a longboard.

  • omfg original trucks/boards are the biggest pieces of shit the trucks get buffed up and crack mad easy and springs suck and the boards are just all around bad my first board was a apex 37 thought it was ok till i bought a soda factory lambchop thing is a fucking beast

  • Good video, but in the next one you make you should really count how many times you say umm. xD

  • Do they still have clear grip tape

  • @MrSwagger1121 - No idea. I would assume you will get whatever is shown on their website.

  • @MrSwagger1121 no sorry they dont have clear tape anymore. i think that was just when the apex came out.

  • love the outro...............

  • Hey buddy I just got the Manhattan 27 and I was thinking about moving the trucks like you did, Will it help carving being further apart?

  • @slaminsammyus - The close the trucks are, the tighter it turns. The further they are apart, the less tight it will turn. I wanted my turning to be more mellow since the originals already turn very tight and sharp. That combined with a really short wheelbase makes it kind of awkward while riding it. I did it mostly so I could fit some Tunnel brand 63mm wheels on there. Moving the trucks out let it line up with the wheel wells for the larger sized wheels.

  • hey, i just got a malakai 40 from original skateboards, i got the standard everything because i am a beginner, and didn't know what else to get.yesterday i was going down a hil and made a semi sharp turn and wiped out because i thought my trucks could turn that fast yet they do have amazing turning.. i was wrong and wiped out intencely. anything that could help me with the next time im going down that hillo because i have to go down it almost every day. thanks

  • @rockstarsk8rchic - Don't bomb the hill. Period. Originals are NOT for speeds. Either start carving aggressively from the beginning and make big deep carves the whole way down. They are carving trucks, so use them only for this.If you don't have the room for big deeps carves you'll have to learn to footbreak.

  • @rockstarsk8rchic dont make sharp turns going down hill unless youre sliding...cuzz youll most likely get launched off the board

  • hey, i've heard a ton of different stories, but i was just wondering if you know if it's possible to put my S8s onto a loaded deck. I"m fine with buying new risers, or whatever, but i just wanna know if it's possible. thanks

  • @johnlongboard112 - putting them on a loaded deck is fine. If you put them on a dervish (top mount, not dropped through [you can[t anyway]) you don't have to worry about risers. Any other non-drop through deck you will need at least a 1/8-1/4" riser with a notch cut out on one side for the stupid metal nut.

  • how much did the manhattan 27 cost

  • good review.. the UMMMM got old real quick though..

  • You REALLY love the Randall R2 trucks!

  • Hey man do you know of a board for a bigger person?

  • my randall's freak'n suck

  • @519Guitar - what deck do you have them set up on? What bushings are you running in them? How much do you weigh? Any trucks can be terrible and any truck can be great. You just have to have them set up correctly for you.

  • @zippychick you can fix it. take the truck apart, clean all the parts with water, make sure all the parts are dry then you must use white lithium GREASE not oil. i do it on my original trucks every once in a while and i have no squeaks :)

  • hey i have manhattan 27 and it ceeps squeeking and i cant get it to stop i have used white lith oil and i have checked the wavecams and they arent broken but its really squeeking please respnd asap thatks

  • @zipppychickk sorry bro there isnt anything you can do. They just squak because that is how they're built. Beyond what you have already dont there isnt much else.

  • @zipppychickk its probly cos youput oil on them

the only thing you can put on them is wite litheam greas or is that what you used

    soz for bad spelling

  • @zipppychickk you can grease the cams with white lithium grease, but only the lube NOT the one in the can. they probably just need to be cleaned

  • ive got the hybrid 35 and apex 37. ive used black, red, and white springs on my boards. using the black springs on either board makes it a lot easier to lose control while going downhill, but it is possible. the red springs have a greater feel and they worked fine with my hybrid in the skatepark. the white springs make turning and downhills effortless and smooth.

  • im new to longboard i can ride a skateboard but i wont to know what springs to get can u tell me

  • if your more used to skateboarding then the white. its what ive been using for everything, kona skatepark and just riding around. you can still pull slides, everything, its a lot harder than the black springs and you should feel better on them.

  • I had all three springs at one point after this video was made. At the properly adjusted tightness of the trucks, all three still felt extremely divey and snappy in a carve.

  • @TheNiceAznKid waaiiit. kona, big island skatepark in hawaii? cus i've never seen an original board there

  • @surfingpinetrees Kona skatepark in Jacksonville, Florida. I'd love to skate Hawaii

  • i have a sector 9 bombingboard ( Kommi) but sometimes i want to carve because i cant really, you think it be a good idea to stick S8 trucks by original on it to make it carve without loosing the boards bombing skills?

  • I would definitely NOT recommend Originals if you plan on doing any sort of bombing. These trucks are REALLY twitchy so anything above 20mph is not advisable. Also, you wouldn't be able to drop the Originals through the Kommis drop-flush mounting. I suggest getting some axle extensions from surf-rodz to alleviate the massive wheelbite the kommi has. This will allow you to get some carvability back while still have a regular truck for stability.

  • wheel bite?

I dont get much wheel bite and i have pink 75mm retros but about the trucks i should basicly just get a new board LOL

  • Then I'm confused as to what is keeping you from carving? I owned a Kommi and modified the drop-through to allow Randal 180s. I would get mad wheelbite with 75mm wheels, 85a double barrels and the king pins tightened just enough so there was no hanger slop. The deck is more or less perfect for carving if it wasn't for wheelbite issues.

  • i have gullwing missions on my kommi, and i have a friend who owns a malakai 40 and i tried it, its carving was 10X better then mine, my kommi cant do any tight carves or even a U turn on a regular street.

  • That's because the originals trucks are a much different design and geometry compared to gullwings. They are meant for tight snappy carves. With the correct truck/bushing setup you can carve pretty tight on a kommi but you will run into wheelbite issues.

  • Hey a tip on the gullwing missions: replace the stock bushings for maybe some doh-dohs. It's a really inexpensive upgrade (5-6$) and will make a huge difference in your trucks!!!

  • @DropDeadStoopid You could do that, but, PLEASE.If you order S8's and want a carvy feel and still want to bomb some good hills. Go with red springs. Or else I swear to you. When bombing a hill, you will eat shit.

  • well my friend has a set and he has white and black springs, he loads the blacks for carving then he switches them to white when we go bombing

  • I've tried both the white and black. When adjusted properly (Just tight enough to not have hanger slop) there was absolutely NO difference in stability of the truck. Still twitchy at speed and still very divey turns. These are a carving truck through and through. I Don't recommend stiffer springs other than for rider weight purposes.

  • how come it just cuts to black for 2 minutes?

  • poor editing skills. For some reason, when I rendered the video it didn't chop off the unused portions.

  • can you use the non original bolts

  • Yes, regular bolts will work fine

  • o ok

  • does the manhattan even have flex?

  • No it does not. Minis usually don't though. Flexy boards with kick tails also feel weird.

  • Comment removed

  • Maybe for you. For others they may be too loose still. Also, according to Original's website it's the white ones which is why I said it.

  • say, what is the Manhattan 27 good for?

is it good for like commuting and hills?

    thanks!

  • I use it to keep in my truck since it's small. If I get bored somewhere I can just bust it out and skate a bit. You could use it for commuting since it's small but the ride height is pretty high with the risers that you HAVE to use so pushing would be bad on the legs. I take it down hills all the time but it's definitely not for any speeds above 15. It's a bad ass little carver for hills though. Very easy to pump this thing too.

  • I don't think it's rated for hills. I think it's best suited for commuting.

  • very helpful.

    thanx

  • I would say for a newbie to stick with conventional trucks to start with.

  • i have apex 34 and it would be a great beginner board u should get the s 6s if ur a beginner and 70 mm wheels

  • i got the 34 a while ago, thanks though. you get easy wheelbite with 70mm on s6's i got s8's

  • Great review! I myself have an APEX 37, running with the S8 trucks. I have taken my time to take apart every single component of the trucks, but have found it quite a hassle. My question is, if you happen to know a faster and more efficient way to take apart the S8, may you post up a video tutorial on how to take it apart or at least attempt to describe the process. Thanks.
