@kaisermuto Exist proudly? Japan's north is occupied by Russia, south is occupied by USA. Your politicians must bow to USA demand. Japan and Korean is the only Asian country that is still occupied by a Western country. You need to stop dreaming.
@redxar66 hahah, i laugh at your comment. SO, if some of small islands around your country at north and south side got stolen by some dirty subhumans, your country is "occupied"? and we can't be proud? wow, you sound so Intelligent! we japanese are proud because:

2. the only first world asian nation
3. the only asian nation that has defeated white countries (nothing against whites)
list goes on! what have your shitty country done!!
1) Japan is the MOST colonized Asian nation, look at how many American troops in Japan compared to rest of Asia
2) First world asian nation? WTF is first world??

@OkamiWillDefeatSilva 1) Japan's financial policy decision is heavily influenced by USA, Japan cannot even sell US Treasury because USA says no, unlike China which can do whatever it wants and trade with whoever it wants to. USA created Japan's law after WW2. USA has 50,000 troops in Japan and rape Japanese women.
2) Rich country?? Singapore has higher per capita GDP than Japan and China has higher total GDP than Japan
3) Russia declared war on Japan in 1945 and then Japan was NUKED
@OkamiWillDefeatSilva 4) Australia beat Japan in WW2 in the South Pacific because our soldiers can adapt to the situation, unlike Japanese troops who blindly follow their commanders and they do not have the brain to adapt to their current battle environment. To this day Japanese are still like ants blindly follow what their superior tell them. What don't you go kill yourself Kamikaze style?
But those sailors? They did their best: they fought hopeless battles and died as heroes. That was the least they could do after all Russian commanders screwed the war up.
Oh, and disregard that, I'm Russian. ;)
P.S. Sorry for those grammar mistakes, I'm sure there's a whole lot of 'em.
If you ask me, the whole story was Russia's fault. It provocated Japan in the first place, getting itself in the war it wasn't ready for. Everything it could do after the war began, didn't really matter. Russian-Japanese War was one of the greatest disgrases in Russian history and, I doubt you guys know, to this day, word "Tsushima" is sometimes used by russians as a sinonym of "Epic Fail". So, to russian "It was a Tsushima!" means "We completely fucked it all up!"
Every time they got killed during the first month at front, just when one would hope they can change something. I call it Karma. And in the end game the crusade of the Baltic Fleet took place. Just to think of it: to sail all the way from Baltic see, along the African coast (Brittish would never let them in Suetz Canal) and across the Indian Ocean just to get outnumbered and completely wiped out at Tsushima. Tremendous fail. If you ask me, the whole story was Russia's
But when it did, it turned out that Empire wasn't ready for war. Eastern Fleet was a complete mess, consisting of old, antiquated, faulty ships. And actually, most of russian commanders in the east were... well... not too talented, to say the least. While japanese fleet was much bigger, included newest brittish-built ships and even explosives shells (using shimosa) they had were better than russian ones. Several times during the war truly talented russian commanders arrived to take control but..
Spectacular holywar, guys. Now I'll try to bring up another point of view.
You now what this war started over, don't you? Japan conquered Korea during Sino-Japanese War 10 years before, but then Triple Intervention happened and Russia taken those territories with support of France and Germany. And for several years Russia was (to put that simply, without details) trolling Japan, just asking for it. I can see only one reason for Russia being so fuc*ing arrogant: they thought Japan wouldn't dare.
It wouldn't be the first time in history. In the naval battle of Salamis, the relatively few and small Athenian (Greek) ships defeated the big Persian war ships, who were slow and poorly led. At the time it was nothing short of a miracle victory for the Greeks.
Admiral Drake defeated the huge Spanish armada using few ships he used to shell the Spanish from a distance, rather than fighting them at point blank range which was common at the time.
@archangel385 i don't even know why Russia would just right off the bat declare war on japan when they exited a period of isolation and all that, dont get me wrong i absulutely LOVE russia but that was kind of unneccessary
@archangel385 the russians did not transfer as many units as they could of, plus with world war 1 right on russia's doorstep upon the end of the russo-japanese war and they had to keep the ottomans from invading

Yes, the Russian defeat sent shockwaves through Europe, who until then had viewed orientals and Asians in general as "inferior people" they could easily defeat. This also signaled that Japan was now a serious naval power in the Pacific and even then Great Britain feared the Japanese would take their colonies, whereas the USA saw a powerful Japanese fleets as threat to its own ambitions in the Pacific.

Actually France had borrowed a lot of money and help in building the Russian railroads, so Russia had promised to fight against whoever attacked France. The Franco-Russian alliance was formed in 1892.
Also, France was still paying depts to Germany after their loss in the Franco-Prussian war of 1870, so in case with a future war with Germany, they needed somebody to fight on their side.
According to the German historian Fritz Fischer, Germany indeed provoked other countries into war
America does n't hate Russia. only the idea of communism. Now that Soviet Union does not exist America is only indifferent to Russia. Too bad. I love all things Russian
America is not indifferent to Russia. It's still scared and west will always hate Russia as it was before communism, during Russian Empire. There were many wars organized by west against Russia, for ex, Crimea War or Napoleon War. Russia is the only country in the world that can wipe America from face of earth. And Ameria surrounded Russia by pro american states and supports destruction of Russian economy and military potential.
@AlexanderTch Sounds like your still high on Cold War propaganda. The United States would welcome better relations with Russia but it does not serve the ends of Russian leaders or arms industry.
Also, America, surrounded Russia by set of miltary bases and nato servant countries. And also America tried to deploy strategic missiels for example in poland. America needs Russian resources, to get fatter and fatter, like it needed oil of Iraq. Russia is richest country by natural resources and also has potential to become stronger again, and it will happen and it bothers west and USa. West wants to do the same as they did to USA and Yugoslavia - cut into piece s and rob resources.
aardvaark069, The Pacific Theater of ops. dwarfed the Russian Front. Reason Soviets lost so many people is because stupid Stalin & Beria purged the Soviet officer corps of 30,000+ officers before WWII began, and only ~1 out of 5 Soviet tanks had radios, & the Soviets used stupid human wave attack tactics. It is not good to loose a lot of people in a war, & the object of a war is to make the enemy lose more people than you.
Well it works and do you think Stalin cared about his people? besides they were in a economic crisis fighting the strongest military at the time. Their planes were made of wood as well as their guns while the Germans were made of metal they couldn't last very long if they didn't send wave after wave of people.
Yes, Stalin cared about people. Russians had good planes, made not of wood. Russia was not in crisis. America and west was in cirisis. Not Russia. Russia was developing very fast, that's why germany and west decided to start aggression faster, before USSR gained even more muscles. USSR actually built first whole metal fighter in the world - I-16. But to start of war it was obsolete.
@AlexanderTch Do you smoke something before you read books? The I-16 was wooden till the end and even in 1940 its wings were wooden. And Polikarpov (the creator of this plane) wanted to put in production the I-180 but the people close to Stalin (sucha s Mikoyan, Yakovlev, Silvanskiy) sabotaged its production.
And Stalin is responsible for our obscure losses in WWII and he himself murdered millions of people for no reason, except that they were from "unneeded) elements.
The only reason why so many russian civlians were killed is cruelty of western agressors. Hitler conidered russians as subhumans and allowed to kill russian peope as much as germans and allies wanted. Stalin and Beria were honest strong people, and they helped to organize russian society for war. Military casualties of Red army are similar to german. It's all in statistics
sure they were(stalin, beria). About statistics: military casualties are about 22 mln.(Russian Academy of Sciense). Most of it - salins incompletance.
Russian people in war the most extraordinary brave determined. Russians have lost more people in war than any other people on earth. The scale of battle on eastern front in WW2 absolutly DWARFED anything else in the war and the Russian dead dwarfed any other country's numbers. Don't fuck with the Russians......at least not on land.
at this age, japan was a negligible country and puny. the world thought of course japan must be defeated, but the war was draw, and japan obtaind some uninportant land from Russia. so people thought japan was "victorious". this war was a turning point and its only after this war that japan entered world deplomacy with some importance.
Unless having the victory in this war, All Asians must have been colonized by the whites' imperialism..
The GB supported Japan to encounter its imperialist rival Russia. and Japan has realized. Soon after, The GB terminated its alliance treaty with Japan. That's the world's reality.
Britain which backed up Japan in this war was indeed one of the most experience nation in naval fight besides Portugal, Spain and Holland.. They had been involved in naval war for centuries.. So, Japan got the advantage there..
Although it is said that US and UK supported Japan, they only felt sympathy for Japan which fought against Russia. They were neutral countries. At that time, some warships in Japanese navy were British make but they weren't gifts from UK. Japan bought them from UK. Although Japanese government issued a lot of war bonds for general investors in Europe and USA, Japanese government never begged for money from US government or UK government.
Hospital ship "Орёл" ["Eagle"] (don't mix with co-named "Borodino" type battleship) escaped from Tsushima battle, but next day she was captured by japanese as a war prise only because of a few english officers imprisoned on board (russians put them there to awoid their death or injury!). That days England and Russia were enemies, no matter guns kept silence...
Sure the japs can win in an naval fight but lets see a land fight.I mean japan is only a island of course it will have a amazing navy.Russia eastern coast isnt very developed.Giving a lack of a navy importance
In any of all, It was a matter of international diplomatic deal wasn't it? The Brits needed Japan to confront against Russia to subtract its influence in Asia so that Brit's territorial interests to be relatively maintained. Why wasn't Japan colonized by the wests unlike those other Asian countries were? Was Japan so puny as you Malaysian as an Brits colonial guy mentioned?
is proud of Japanese victory in this war which protected my country from Russian's invasion of Asia. But, It's not such Samurai's way to bash the defeated enemy soldiers after the battle. and it does not mean they were not brave to be praised. Can you understand the way of warrior(Bushido)? or you are just a descendants of low class farmer infantry at the age?
you know i'm just trying to protect japan's name... as of you? you are one of the disgrace person i think. i will never take my pride down because of your inconstructive statements treasoning. i hope you know what i mean.
don't be so dramatic! i just want to take pride of nyself that my country is brave enough to fight for our country japan! and you don not be so ignorant and over confident on your i.q and your stock knowledge!
Praise all those Russian Naval soldiers! who fought and died really bravely against IJN. They had many disadvantages for long voyage ,bad logistics, crews' vigor, command inferiority,place...etc. They must be honored and praised.
As the result of that battle was a revolution of 1917 in Russia Avery country of the world felt its consequences at own skins. So, whose ass was kicked?
As the result of that battle was a revolution of 1917 in Russia Avery country of the world felt its consequences at own skins. So, whose ass was kicked?
Every war is bad. The worse someone doesnt realize it. The worst someone dont understand what in that war of 1904 Great Britain was behind the conflict. Brave Navies of two Great Countries have been stuck to war in which real victory was achieved by GB, the only Empery of that time, which destroyed Russian fleet by hands of Japanese and this way prolonged its supremacy at world ocean. Its just like USA now in most nowadays conflicts.
Those are words of wisdom. Great Britain created Japan from scratch, and Great Britain fought Russia by using Japan. I'd say GB owned 60% share holding of joint'stock 'Japan ltd', and other 40% was USA. After 1945 it changed of course.
None of us should tell this battle history only by prudent emotion. The russian crues were very brave as they tried to fire cannon untill very moment of their ships were sunken down into the sea which were recorded in the IJN's report diary.
The various factors profitted IJN. read more historical books how much we were lucky and
the Russian were not.
Japan had the newest ships and the international society gave us great favor and support to us who was challenging one of the greatest millitary power.
with my country Japan, Japan had won this "Battle of Tushima" eventhough the Most of British citizens made bets on Russia's victory of the Russo-Japan war.
But,as history tells, this perfect win threated Americans to consider Japan as the next rival or enemy in coming future beyond the Pacific Ocean. and it had really, caused though Japan had never wished.

Although Japanese government issued a lot of war bonds for general investors in Europe and USA, Japanese government never begged for money from US government or UK government.

Yes-yes, British jentleman always has the alibi. Who you tried to delude, yourself?

It is also true that Britain did a big contribution in this war.
Japan might have been led to win by enclosing the Soviet Union by various strategies.
Japan exhausted a national budget for five years in the war and became poor.
However, it was lucky to have united the alliance with Britain.
Asia might still have been a colony if defeated.
It can be said that it became the end of the Caucasian supremacy principle if it says by the afterthought.
It is a sarcastic result.

@mitsubishi777 Wrong.

Me as an old Japanese military family member,
is proud of Japanese victory in this war which protected my country from Russian's invasion of Asia. But, It's not such Samurai's way to bash the defeated enemy soldiers after the battle. and it does not mean they were not brave to be praised. Can you understand the way of warrior(Bushido)? or you are just a descendants of low class farmer infantry at the age?

You shoundn't be so arrogant about Japan's victory in this war that you are absolutely not the one who really fought in the battle.
Read more historical books to be more intelligent how hard and lucky Japan was..
Know what Admiral Togo said."Don7T be arrogat" like you are!

Praise all those Russian Naval soldiers! who fought and died really bravely against IJN. They had many disadvantages for long voyage ,bad logistics, crews' vigor, command inferiority,place...etc. They must be honored and praised.

Um...please use proper grammar?

Those are words of wisdom. Great Britain created Japan from scratch, and Great Britain fought Russia by using Japan. I'd say GB owned 60% share holding of joint'stock 'Japan ltd', and other 40% was USA. After 1945 it changed of course.

dont compare russia with my country
because japan is the great nation, but russia is only drunken beggar
russia is suck,poor,ugly,dirty and stupid.

None of us should tell this battle history only by prudent emotion. The russian crues were very brave as they tried to fire cannon untill very moment of their ships were sunken down into the sea which were recorded in the IJN's report diary.

Your comment is very imprudent.
The various factors profitted IJN. read more historical books how much we were lucky and
the Russian were not.
Japan had the newest ships and the international society gave us great favor and support to us who was challenging one of the greatest millitary power.

Great thanks to the Great Britain's alliance
with my country Japan, Japan had won this "Battle of Tushima" eventhough the Most of British citizens made bets on Russia's victory of the Russo-Japan war.
But,as history tells, this perfect win threated Americans to consider Japan as the next rival or enemy in coming future beyond the Pacific Ocean. and it had really, caused though Japan had never wished.
