  • I was 10 when I listened to this album, my dad had it on cassette, amazing music and brings back lots of fond memories.

  • 1983-My father died and i was 1 month old....this kasset was the last music he ever buyed...a music legacy i will not soon forget..still have that kasset.

  • yeh man

guitarist extrordiaire. im a blues player but mr o is fucking good

  • @hasanrolf I hate placing music into genre, but out of interest what style(s) of player do you think Mr O is? I can never make up my mind!

  • @TheSlapdown

i think mr o plays prog rock.

but music should come from the heart whatever the style.

  • brings back memories as my older bro played his amazin music daily x

  • ..Kopfhöhrer auf 100% und zurücklehnen..........

  • fantastic album moonlight shadown is wonderful song i love very much

  • what a perfect album to celebrate the Supermoon with :>

  • Could spend hours of no sleep when i was 8 years old hearing this on my CDplayer, today i can listen to it in better Quality anywhere...

  • @kreeslak Holy shit. me too..after my dad showed me this when I was around 9 or 10. This opened my eyes to Simon Phillips. Haven't gone back and listened to this is in far too long. way overdue.

  • This music reminds me of Dr Who, Blake's 7, Star Maidens, Star Wars, FireballXl5 and also Battle stragalactica.

  • One of my favourite album covers. Although I'd have to rate Hergest Ridge as my favourite Oldfield album.

  • The begining is the best!

  • I am 77777 :)

  • Best Artist

  • hes the best

  • a masterwork !!!! the best sounds i´ve heard in my life !!!

  • this takes me back to being a child. Fantastic album

  • Hergest Ridge, Ommadawn, Incantations, Platinum, QE2, Five Miles Out, Crisis, Discovery, Islands, Amarok, The Songs of Distant Earth and Voyager basically does it for me.

I don't think I'd want to meet the guy because he seems like a self absorbed tit, like most genius composers are, but his music helps me escape.

  • Magnifique

  • Magnifique

  • when i listen= NOSTALGIA.

  • love this since my mother listen it when i was 5 years old...and always same sensation

  • This is simply awesome. Oldfield knew what he was doing... the most beautiful music I've like never heard

  • the watcher and the tower - awesome

  • oNE OF HIS MANY MANY MASTERPIECES YOU CAN HEAR THEM AGAIN AND AGAIN AND YOU NOTICE SOMETHING YOUVE MISSED BEFORE. I LIKE TO THINK OF IT AS....SURPRISE MUSIC, NOITHING IS PREDICTABLE.

  • AWESOME SONG. PERIOD.

  • Es cierto esta es la pieza maestra de Mike Oldfield!!! Estoy de acuerdo!!!

  • I grew up with this vynil my father used to play to me... best legacy he could have given

  • Mike Oldfield bringt's ,heute wie früher. Yeahh !

  • My girlfriends phone keypad is always reminding me this

  • Mit einer der besten Alben, kommt gleich nach to france.

  • the best ever!! my first LP vinil

  • This is a true journey of blissful sounds, rhythms and harmonies that were and still are a splendour to my ears. At the age of 9 i listened to this album (or is an LP) endlessly on my Dad's new pioneer system through a fine set of ear goggles ... TV stood no chance !!!

  • Cricket "crises" averted eh? Hmm. We got a draw down under.

    Subject: Senate cricketers Wafts Moron

Anagram: we cannot resist market forces

  • Flackon, I do not wonder about you at all. Oh the words you were perhaps looking for are "re-directed rage" - here on a site where nobody cares who is whom or whom they insult. "Poorly" programmed? "Ouch" said the machine as best it could having no feelings to hurt. lol.

  • Shorts or a sweater. I hve ignored it for months but what the heck else is there to do. Sorts or a sweater? I sigh. Crisis/crises etc. Mike Oldfield tunes form a sort of background noise to drown the pain. But it hardly helps. Sorry Mike but I Taurus becomes Bull Puckey after a while. 247 tests?

    Subject: shorts or a sweater

    Anagram: waste asset horror

  • "Crisis", "In High Places" and "The Lake" - are always with me when I am in the mountains.

  • Ethics Agency? In peril? I see some odd things in the ether. a la Galadrial - in LOTR - "I feel it in the water - I smell it in the air". It is fear of being "found out" - allegedly

  • GREAT !

  • The watcher and the tower. This song is so nice.

  • Crisis or Crises? Hmm/

    Subject: contemptible inverted comma

Anagram: Tobacco enliven MidTerm - temp

  • maravilloso sonido !!!!

  • Oh man. Usually when I come back to music I haven't heard in a while I'm disappointed. This has proved the exception.

  • Reach For The Sky? I do not think so. Crises indeed, Michael Oldfield. Incantantions of Immortality from some who should know better.

    THERE MAYBE A CURE -

I AM WEARING A BLUE DRESSING GOWN SINCE YOU ASKED ~ CHEAT RUM EYE BEAR - SKY NEWS - WOE IMAGINE DOUGLAS BADER - INSURING ACE

I sigh - and fly too now it seems.

  • This is what got me hooked on Oldfield. I got "Crises" as a Christmas present because I liked "Moonlight Shadow" and put it in the tape machine and then OMFG THIS STARTS PLAYING. Crowning moment of musical awesome (hey, I was twelve).

  • @jsm666 I'm 33 and I still find it a crowning moment of musical awesome! "The watcher and the tower... waiting hour by hour".

  • Insurance? Why does the USA have Rights over a life I sometimes wonder?

In a toe to toe fight over a life story - I know who I would bet on and I am a gambler too! Money in the street! And not counterfeit either!

    Subject: all state

    Anagram: Tea Stall

  • There is no need to bookmark books! Tiger Tiger? lol

True! Or is it really Tigger? Pooh Bear an all!

  • This is a top. Before this album, mike oldfield made musics (good musics) without knowing what he wanted : they were always untidy, lot of ideas, lot of desires, much energy, but the results had no shape, no identity, no power, ... though I love them.

This album shows that the child became a man : the adolescence crises are over.

  • Es increible los recuerdos que me trae esta obra maestra, hace mas de 20 años que lo escuche por primera vez y creo que cuanto mas lo escucho ,mas me gusta....increible obra maestra

  • dreams are dreams you can´t influence. This one is a dream you will get in all your dreams and the dream will never end. thanks Mike!

  • I

    LOVE

    MICHAEL OLFIELD

  • So far after exploring mike my faves are

    1.taurus 11

    2.Crimes of passion

    3.five miles out

    4.tubular bells

    5. Hergest Ridge

  • @Guitarstring187 Lots of good stuff in tubular bells III !

  • The begin of this music is espetacular, a kind of magic...

  • the bedst oldfild ever made.

  • I love his longplays :D

  • this is the bomb!

crises, and you can´t get away!!

  • I threw someones comment in a translator. They are good are they not. Translators I mean. German. Came out as sort of

Although I am relatively young at 18, knows what is good music.

I am just old! Throw that IN A TRANSLATOR! LOL

  • @RaleighDawlishRaynar I'm wondering if you are a defective AI, a poorly programmed spambot or just autistic.

  • my favourite the watcher in the tower, i love all of mike oldfields work and i am glad that most people dont know of it, its my secret pleasure and isnt ruined by overplaying or being mainstream

  • @bigshepleeds Although this means he doesn't get the recognition he deserves. His music is too good for the masses - they cannot understand it.

  • mr oldfield, u r genial !!!

  • Comment removed

  • 2.10 : naprosto dokonalé !!! The Best !!!

  • This came out just before my own Crises. It helped keep me going. If music be the food of love - play on? oops. I went wront back there somewhere. Give me excess of it. No that is pigging out.

  • Who wants The Bells, when they can have A Crises?

  • Ah, memories :) I have to say, I never understood why the Crises were plural... but then in general Oldfield is a better musician than lyricist. (Most of the time they're almost good - he just needed an editor.)

  • Dieses "Lied" ist eine Metarmorphose, wie es sich imme weiter entwickelt, einfach schön.

  • i love it !!!!

  • This cover is awesome! Simply and "no words to describe this feelings".

  • I love this album!

  • Big MO fan, not heard this track before and It sums up the more playful side of his work (in contrast to the title) - If I was stuck on an island with one artist to listen to for the rest of my days it would be this guy. You can pick out something different with every listen. Thanks uploader!

  • I have just bought a new copy of this CD from the Amazon website.

    Thanks again for your help!

  • Thank you for your help that's very much appreciated.I heard his song Moonlight Shadow a few weeks ago & suddenly had his music on my mind ever since I've always liked his music since I was a teenager but have never thought about buying his music until now .Thanks again.

  • The Human is fleeing from the world of the Human.

  • I've always liked Mike Oldfield can anyone tell me where I can get this CD from as I have looked on the HMV website & I can't see it anywhere on there.Would I have to go down to the big stores down in London to find it?

  • @TheSkipro1 cd wow

  • @TheSkipro1 try in amazon or in FNAC

  • I've always liked Mike Oldfield but can anyone tell me where you can buy this CD?

I have looked on the HMV website & theres no sign of it.Or can i find it in the big stores down in London?

  • simply genius...

  • This is the Oldfield's masterpiece...

  • @cubolab certainly mystical one in the closing part with the watcher on tower waiting...:)

  • @cubolab I'd rather say, ONE of his masterpieces... Amarok ain't bad at all, if you ask me... Tubular Bells is superb, of course, but it got more popular than the others just becuz it was the score of the Exorcist.

  • @cubolab oh yes

  • @cubolab oh yes, your soo right.

  • @cubolab masterpiece continuum!

  • @cubolab

    Completely agree... ;))

  • SO DEEP MUSIC !!!!!!! exellent , j'adore : élèctro , guitares, rythmique, mélodies , du grand art ........

  • The watcher and the tower

    Waiting hour by hour.

  • whole song is fantastic but the intro is best ever!

  • Superb piece of music; I played this to death when I first bought it in '83....until I then bought Discovery!!....

  • So did I . I still can't get enough of Mike Oldfield's music. I have been listening to this incredibly, awesome musician since 1974.

  • Genial!

  • Brilliant in so many ways.

  • Finally someone uploaded it :)

  • This track is sensational. I'm annoyed that not so many people I know have heard it (they just think "Tubular Bells" whenever anyone says Oldfield - which too me is nothing compared to this).

  • @ortega24024 I completely agree. This was the first of many records I stole from my older sister, not knowing what it was. I still have it. Love it to bits. It´s probably the best album he ever made

  • @ortega24024 well you're lucky the people i know doesn't even know the name Mike Oldfield.... -.-

  • @ortega24024 so agree the man is amazing makes you feel so good !!

  • @ortega24024 Well, in their defense, it is iconic.:) But I would love for more of my generation to know the wonderful music that is Mike.:)

  • masterpiece...an adventure..

  • One of the best Mike's song. I love it so much! Thanks!

  • The watcher and the tower

  • Amazing Album with the perfect Drummers: Simon Phillips and Pierre Moerlen...R.I.P Pierre...

  • I too grew up with this album. It's praiseworthy, I am so glad to have found this again. Do believe I'd almost forgotten about Crises... shame on me!

  • The first time I got really high, I was listening to this.

  • unbelivable, first time i heard it from my mother on tape and loved it, heard it day by day, i was about 6 or 7 too...now shes dead and it was sad but great to hear it after at least 20 years....thanks

  • I was so shocked when i heard it the first time . it sounds so cold to me .Cold in a technical way ( sorry , just schoolenglish)

Now i know : It was that Fairlight...

  • That Fairlight was a nice touch on The Skids song 'Iona'.

  • Interesting comment! I love Crises because the melodies are warm and enigmatic but the style is very cold, as you say. The same is true with Foreign Affair.

  • i loved this when i first heard it (when i was about 7 or 8), and i love it even more now. it was my first experience of Mike Oldfield beyond songs such as Moonlight Shadow

  • Non posso che inchinarmi...

  • I prefer the kind of sound this album has to new electronic and synth stuff. I don't think it's a dated sound at all. It sounds more atmospheric than the latest electronic sounds, a combination of analog and digital equipment that Mike was using at the time in 1982-3. I especially like the reverb and droning that you can hear in this piece, as well as that uncompromisingly hollow drum sound that gets on a lot of people's nerves but which I think is just great.

  • This album was part of my dads vinyl collection when I was growing up. I listened to this track over and over......a 25 year step back in time...awesome.

  • Rewelacja ;]

  • THE WATCHER AND THE TOWERR!!!

    waiting hour... by hour:D:D

    i LOVEE ITT :D:D:D:D

  • Une musique d'anthologie, une vrai merveille !! Indémodable !

  • quelle chanson...! quel artiste ! quel compositeur !!!

    j'admire réellement les chansons d'oldfield...

  • WOWW!! Excellent !!

I used to play this album to death (had it on vinyl when it first came out).

Thanks very much for posting :)

  • Enorme mike!
