Flackon, I do not wonder about you at all. Oh the words you were perhaps looking for are "re-directed rage" - here on a site where nobody cares who is whom or whom they insult. "Poorly" programmed? "Ouch" said the machine as best it could having no feelings to hurt. lol.
Shorts or a sweater. I hve ignored it for months but what the heck else is there to do. Sorts or a sweater? I sigh. Crisis/crises etc. Mike Oldfield tunes form a sort of background noise to drown the pain. But it hardly helps. Sorry Mike but I Taurus becomes Bull Puckey after a while. 247 tests?
Ethics Agency? In peril? I see some odd things in the ether. a la Galadrial - in LOTR - "I feel it in the water - I smell it in the air". It is fear of being "found out" - allegedly
This is what got me hooked on Oldfield. I got "Crises" as a Christmas present because I liked "Moonlight Shadow" and put it in the tape machine and then OMFG THIS STARTS PLAYING. Crowning moment of musical awesome (hey, I was twelve).
This is a top. Before this album, mike oldfield made musics (good musics) without knowing what he wanted : they were always untidy, lot of ideas, lot of desires, much energy, but the results had no shape, no identity, no power, ... though I love them.
This album shows that the child became a man : the adolescence crises are over.

@cubolab I'd rather say, ONE of his masterpieces... Amarok ain't bad at all, if you ask me... Tubular Bells is superb, of course, but it got more popular than the others just becuz it was the score of the Exorcist.
This track is sensational. I'm annoyed that not so many people I know have heard it (they just think "Tubular Bells" whenever anyone says Oldfield - which too me is nothing compared to this).
@ortega24024 I completely agree. This was the first of many records I stole from my older sister, not knowing what it was. I still have it. Love it to bits. It´s probably the best album he ever made
unbelivable, first time i heard it from my mother on tape and loved it, heard it day by day, i was about 6 or 7 too...now shes dead and it was sad but great to hear it after at least 20 years....thanks
Interesting comment! I love Crises because the melodies are warm and enigmatic but the style is very cold, as you say. The same is true with Foreign Affair.
i loved this when i first heard it (when i was about 7 or 8), and i love it even more now. it was my first experience of Mike Oldfield beyond songs such as Moonlight Shadow
I prefer the kind of sound this album has to new electronic and synth stuff. I don't think it's a dated sound at all. It sounds more atmospheric than the latest electronic sounds, a combination of analog and digital equipment that Mike was using at the time in 1982-3. I especially like the reverb and droning that you can hear in this piece, as well as that uncompromisingly hollow drum sound that gets on a lot of people's nerves but which I think is just great.
