  • Yo I can't front I was very emotional when song hit cuz all of them were together and they were one of my main early musical influences. side note yo is that Free in the window kissing Mike Bivins?

  • @esaent oh snap...i think it is. She is from Boston.

  • @esaent haha..yea, that's Free

  • This remix single still holds up 20 years later. It doesn't seem that long ago. LOL! NE crew's in full effect here. They're touring again! Two shows at the end of December and one on New Year's Day. If anyone's in the S. Cali area, Detroit, or Bronx, please attend and let the other fans know how it went. NE for life. Peace. :-)

  • Wow. Why didn't I remember Ronnie's rap that mentioned New Edition's/Johnny Gill's/Ralph Tresvant's/BBD's/Bobby Brown's hits?! Anybody else notice that heir video organizers spelled "My Prerogative" wrong though? LOL

  • @herkeda Thats what made it so hot !! A true fan of their music knew what he was doing from the start of the verse.

  • I mean is it me or couldnt Bobby Brown have been a rapper! yikes:) homeboy was spitting them verses like he was the first rapper for Def Jam!

  • wait, roscos is closed? FUCK!

  • I for one would love to see them back together again!!!!!

  • im disappointed. can anyone help me out? how come ronnie doesnt have any eyebrows and for those that dont know hes the guy that was wearin the green snapback in one of the clips.

  • he lost them during a lighting fart war, sadly he lost the trophy also

  • @hippa2dahoppa2 lighting fart war wtf? i was serious.

  • I remember people including myself damn near blew up because for the first time you had all 6 members of New Edition in one video but advertised as BBD.

  • Let the past music be the past and the present be the present. Enjoy listening to old school without having to diss the new school. sheesh!

  • OmG! This used to be one of my favorite songs; damn, I had forgotten all about this song, It brings back some serious, major memories. This may seem corny but, I am literally on the verge of tears...

  • I love this song!!!

  • @TheKILLAHUNT

hit th enail on the head!!!!!! right on!

  • Im 13 years old & I love Old School Music...Ralph is looking TOO sexy!!!! lol I loooove this song!

  • Classic!

  • They gear was so tight in the video, everybody looking all fly.

  • Ralph was hot back in the dayz

  • Ralp was fine!!! lol

  • Lmao!! look at Ricky do the studder step at 1:03

  • NEW EDITION FOREVER!!!

  • Anybody else notice Free from 106 at 1:45

  • Bell Biv Devoe was the only members to go there with a remix to have the whole crew involved. To hear how all 6 sounded together as adults was the shit. Props to BBD for that !! I always felt there was a lil envy going on with the rest because of all the members...BBD was the crew that Blew up the largest !! They came with it with Singles out the ass something only Bobby Brown did with his 2nd project and honestly what Ralph Tresvant never accomplished, even though his music was nice.

  • @curtis75black Bobby sold over 8 million with Don't be Cruel fam, he made people forget about Michael Jackson for a second and MJ even went and got Teddy Riley for his next project after Don't Be Cruel came out. BBD's Poison only sold 3 million fam.

  • @TrueFatherAllah Like i said, 2nd Project, which was "Don't Be Cruel". His 1st King Of Stage didn't do what BBD did with their 1st and still to this day can get any club poplin' with any of the tracks off their 1st Cd !!!

  • @TrueFatherAllah for about mj lolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll don t cruel was good but the album bad was better

  • @curtis75black word ! wasnt it crazy how ronnie took the song titles from by eveybody's solo projects 2 make his verse . i fucks wit these niggas

  • @curtis75black Actually Bobby Brown blew up the largest!!

  • @curtis75black Bobby Brown actually went on to became the biggest seller, on his solo projects! but BBD was the joint!

  • @tamishay4life No one is disputing that !! I know Bobby Brown blew up crazy with his 2nd project 'DONT BE CRUEL' but his first was a flop !! That's what I'm talking about. Right out the gate BBD blew up the largest with their 1st project, something the rest didn't do. Understand what I'm saying here. No one is shitting on Bobby.

  • @curtis75black Oh I hope you didn't think I was offended?! I was just stating what I thought I remembered from that time! Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, AND Mike! (Ralph and Johnny, too) don't pay my bills! DUDE!!! it ain't dat serious!

  • @tamishay4life Not at all. Just conversating.

  • @curtis75blackI wouldn't call Bobby's first album a flop. King of Stage was actually a pretty good album. It didn't sell as much as Don't Be Cruel but it still wasn't bad. The songs ''GIRLFRIEND'' and ''GIRL NEXT DOOR'' were good songs.

  • @TonyGonzo1988 True enough, but when your 2nd was written Babyface and produced by Babyface and Teddy Riley, You better do those #'s lmao

  • @curtis75black You got a point. Bell Biv Devoe's Poison album was up there with Don't Be Cruel maybe not in sales but in groundbreaking success, trendsetting, and the new jack swing culture at the time. Ralph's solo success was alright but not that significant. Johnny did pretty good with his 1990 album. lots of classics on that album. Nobody has done what New Edition has done!!

  • @TonyGonzo1988 So True !! Jackson 5, The Temptations, 4 Tops, Spinners, Ready For The World etc etc, COULD NOT go solo, have the odds against them and still Blow up !! Only to come back as a 6 man crew and rep just as hard as they did with their last Opus. Their impact is monstrous !!

  • @curtis75black Exactly. But even after all that, I still feel like they don't fully get the credit and respect they deserve!!

  • You know how hot it woulda been if NE had put out an album that year?? They were a supergroup by the time they reconvened for this song!

  • @TMBuxton SO TRUE HOMIE !! SO TRUE.

  • Would you look at that? They actually had their shirt tucked in and a belt holding their pants up where it should be...my my my. Look at kids nowadays, with those pants hanging down their knees.

  • I love Bobbys trigga finga at 3:27 !!!! Intense!!!

  • HeLLo EvEryONE My name is Angie Medina and Im 17 years old Im in a small town, but I have big dreams I play guitar and flute My dream is to be a singer I sing from the heart and stay true I know alot of people hate when artists like me make comments like this But I am different I promise that... if u give me a chance i'll show u And I would like that my dream can come true with the help of you guys So please stop by my channel and check out my cover Please help me get my dream Thank you so much
  • why do that have lady gaga dressed in drag advertised under a Bell Biv Devoe video?

  • What the hell...I didnt know Ralph had a verse in this song??? Wow!!!

  • it's good to see all the new edition family together again.

  • Check out my song I did to "Word to the Mutha" called "I'll Rip Your Beat real underground hip hop from the unsigned Prinze J "Tha Juggerknott"

  • something about ralph's voice gets to me its so sweet and soft to me!

  • This song came out in 91!!!!! DeVoe was rockin the farmers backwards!!! Kriss Kross came out in 92...... just sayin...Swagger Jacking!!!!!!!!! These are my dudes for life!

  • I love this version!!!

  • Omgeee I neva knew they had a video for this song!! This is my ish!!!

  • Ralph is sooooooooooo fine in this video! Yes, out of all of them. Sorry y'all. LOL! Other than that, great video of them coming together.

  • @Oldschoolgal5 I agree Ralphy does look mighty sexxxy but I'ma die hard BOBBY fan!!! NE 4 LIFE!!

  • Wow thats free from 106 & Park that mike was kissing in window

  • 90's .... Best there was , Best there is and best there will ever be... Fuck i really miss those days!!

  • i have this tape at my house

  • old school is the shit, new school is shit.... after having to listen all day to lady gaga, lil wayne, jessie j because it is everywhere, at the end of the day i have to go on a bell biv devoe therapy

  • is that Free from 106 & park? i wonder if mike bivins had any idea that her ass would become so bubblicious.

  • I really wish Ronnie and Mike would sing just for one time! LOL

  • @RatedRJerichoFan they did on the new edition christmas album .. they are pretty good !!!

  • Nothing beats late 80's and early 90's hip hop, rnb and rap....... I'm 35 now and still love it - takes me back to graffiti overalls, steps and lines in hair cut and dance showdowns at the school disco! hahaha I had my hair like Kid from Kid and Play! HIGH!!!!!!!!!!!

  • SHOUTS OUT TO FREE FROM 106 & Park AT 1:46

  • @authenticintuition It's probably true being that she's from Boston- like New Edition. She had to be in her early 20's when this video was made.

  • itz called old school yo o.p. blazers

  • Johnny Gill added an extra dimension to this group which was very good by itself but it only become better when JG joined the fold.

  • Maybe this shows my age, but damn----this is smooth.

  • Yep

  • I hope your album flopped majorly hardcore Jessie J. Seriously, you're garbage and I want you as far away from my Bell Biv DeVoe as possible

  • @LaSwagga Hahaaha, nicely put . jtfo

  • People were wearing the brand Cross Colours back in those days. 8-)

  • Needs some auto tune. I kid I kid.

  • let it go...respect each other's right to an opinion and move on. what's the point of getting yourself all worked up over the thoughts of a person you will probably never even meet. how powerful one must feel to know that there biased opnions carry so much weight. and that the simplicity of their words can wreak havoc & destruction in the life of someone they've never even touched. food for thought...never allow ANYONE to have that much power in or around your life.

  • oh my goodness!!! HOW DID A NEW EDITION VIDEO SPARK THIS TYPE OF TURMOIL??? this is a prime example of what is wrong in today's society. we are so angry and consumed with the thoughts of the next man, that we lose sight of what's really important. you guys would make the younger generation believe that the 90's was full of disrepect and degradation.( cont...)

  • I love this Song! Classic

  • @theglory71 The overalls and all that stuff was the fashion back then, things change. Just like your opinion did about this song and video. It seems you have strong hatred towards this song and video. Why? I have no idea.

But I like this song. And I think they are all better than Vanilla Ice, rapping and singing, but this is my opinion!

  • @theglory71 I guess wearing your pants halfway off your ass, dissin women, flashing money and jewelry, and acting ignorant is what's cool in music today huh? These guys had REAL TALENT, something that's lacking in today's music. You realize these 6 cats were successful together AND solo? They all had major hits whether they did it together or apart.

  • @preo2 shit, they wearing pants even worse these days. tigh-ass pants hanging half off the ass looking like lil bitches

  • @theglory71 If Vanilla Ice is cooler than N.E. than Justin Bieber is a musical genius. Vanilla Ice was fake as hell and it came into the light. That's why he doesn't have much credibility in the hip-hop world. New Edition has credibility in the hip-hop world and the R&B world. Plus the '90s are way more original than mid 2000s and now in the 2010s, this era is very generic. They need to take a page from the '70s-'90s on how to be original.

  • I never realized how horrible this song was until I saw it 20 years later

  • @theglory71 Well, of course it's horrible if you "saw it". You should have tried "hearing it" instead. Much better results.

  • Damn. I remember watching this on MTV when it first came out. I'm old... Kids today have no idea what they are missing.

  • Damn. I remember watching this on MTV when it first came out. I'm old...

  • is it me or johnnie gill looking good in this video!! lol

  • @c112girl He's a good looking guy.

  • Hey Yall, Hey Yall Hey, WORD TO THE MUTHA!

  • i still have my cross colours clothes from this era. still rock'em on occasion.

  • #bbd and #ne r the buisnezz

  • it will neva be days like dis again. brings back so many memories

  • CLASSIC SHIT

  • JG's hard to categorize since he didn't give off a hiphop vibe and didn't completely fit the Luther-style R&B (or whatever) his voice and persona seemed more suited to. Some of it is the material he was given and marketing too.

Heartbreak has depth, dynamics, and maturity that BB just couldn't bring. BB could have interchanged parts with RT and RB, sure. Yes, NE lost some swagger without BB. I can not be convinced that Heartbreak would have been a better album musically without JG. No way.

  • @zerotta I actually beieve NE's best material was produced when JG joined the group. Prior to that most of their stuff was pretty tacky and cheesy to be totally honest.

  • Either way, it's a great song and wonderful snapshot of where hiphop was at that time. Wish we could go back.

NE for life. Bring it back together.

  • Some of you have to lay off Johnny. He might not be as "street" as the other 5 but he gave NE a whole new dimension. There's corny stuff from each of them in this vid by today's standards 20 years later. They always joked with JG if he could dance they'd let him join earlier.

That they included him in the song shows they considered him an important part of NE- even though he wasn't from Roxbury or with NE from the beginning. NE was split when this broke; they didn't have to include him.

  • And Ralph, WTF was that little gay ass move @ 3:55-3:56 all about player???!

  • @Allinmoderation88 You're looking wayyyy too much into that, it was OBVIOUS he didn't want to lift it out of sequence to when the "sensitivity" line is said, Bobby and Ralph are the closest!

  • I love It !!!!!

  • Now dis wat u call music

  • bobbys da man he looks stoned then a mutha fucka at the start hahaha yeah boi

  • Idk y people kill other's like they crazy

  • Enough with the vevo commercials. UGH!!!!

  • Now i remember this song.

  • Bobby and Ralph should have done a rap album, they nailed it! I'm riding with New Edition 4 Life!

  • @VoiceOfReezun Check out Ralphs "rated r" track!!

  • @VoiceOfReezun Sure beats Tupac and Biggie. Fuck that shit!

  • @VoiceOfReezun Yea man you are right they did kill it on the rap tag team...

  • @VoiceOfReezun naww im riding with bobby and he did rap duhh

  • @VoiceOfReezun and raplh you need start listening more

  • LMAO @ 4:20 Bobby's reaction to Johnny Gill's weirdo dancing, faggot ass! hahahahaha That intro is one of the best intro's ever committed on wax, but they need to kick Johnny Gil's punk butt out of the group, he fucks up the dynamics, and sticks out like a sore, gay ass thumb! hahahahahaha

  • @VoiceOfReezun: I gotta say I LOL'ed at 4:20, cuz I never saw that before. But I see Bobby's reaction now....funny.

  • Ralph and Bobby killed thay rap!

and poor jhonny shouldnt have danced in this video... at the end when he dance its uh.. interesting... buht lemme shut up cause i cant dance 4 nun...

  • @angelaricks1 At least he admits he is not a dancer.

  • Ralph and Bobby killed thay rap!

  • I like Ronnie's verse at 2:24 saying all their Classic Hits in one freestyle, tht was slick nd it blended so nicee too

  • 4:19 the original new edition clownin johnny cuz he gay

  • ralph so sexy wit his baggy clothes on...he just turned me on all of dem except johnny

  • they all so sexy except johnny

  • I love this song takes me back.... way back

  • new edition haircuts were always on point

  • No doubt New Edition reached heights no r n b group today can dream about. They were bad from day one and anyone my age grew up on their music. Oneof my truely feavorite groups of all time..
