Hi wish they would have more family shows like the Waltons now days. But now its more trash shows today than ever. No wonder why American family values is going down the drain.
@TheDaviniumXX You could've written it a year ago. I only saw it yesterday. And I've already explained myself. This conversation's over. Don't bother reply; it'll be deleted without being opened.
@TheDaviniumXX I wouldn't say it's my "favorite" show, I rarely watched it as a kid in the 70s, it was in the 90s that I developed a real interest in it.
And no, actually, you didn't hurt my feelings at all. Unless you were joking, which I doubt, you just sounded like a jerk, both in your original post and in your reply to me. Hey, you're entitled to your opinion; hate the Waltons all you want, but why click on this video then, other than to troll and start shit? Why not let us enjoy in peace?
I used to love watching this when it was broadcast on a sunday morning in england. But for some reason I never liked Little House On The Prairie. Probably because it was a bit too sickly sweet for my taste. But gimme John Boy and Co and I'm longing for a taste of the Baldwin sisters 'Recipe' :-)
Wow!CLASSIC!!-This was my dream family!!(some people had "imaginary friends" growing up,I had"imaginary families!!"--that's what foster "CARE" will do to a 5yr.old!)...sad how we were babysat and programed by the idiot box!!-Hey,this reminds me of an old T.V. add for the Yellow Pages I think, showing old black and white stills from the 30s+40s,with some guy singing"Heart of my heart,I love that melodie..."-ring a bell, anyone?(No pun intended!!)...
Funny how as a kid I hated when this show came on (grandparents loved it), and now I watch it any time I can.. A timeless classic..Probably buy all the DVD boxsets.. LOL
As soon as i heard the intro I had a flash back of being curled up on the sofa with my blanket and a cup of hot cocoa. LOL! funny how music can trigger memories!
I'm going to close all of this up (hopefully), by saying that "Atheist" doesn't mean that you can't be a "spiritual" person.
As far as the belief in "God": I am not inclined to be an "insurance-policy-believer"- simply believing in a god just because I might be "wrong".
If I am wrong, which is not unprecedented, I just think that the "Almighty" would easily see through a sham of a self-preserving belief held, just to keep myself from burning in hell.
TBwee..yes, you do have enough Universal insight to come to this decision. Your perspective after a few years of life on a very insignificant planet is sufficient enough to summarize the grand infinity with the single statement " there is no God." What if you are wrong.....
Then I guess I'm going to burn in hell with the rest of you sinners....
I'm not too worried about whether there is a "god" , or not; it's HOW you live your life.
I come from a deeply religious upbringing, and I have consistently learned that "believers" seems to have this overwhelming desire to project human frailties and sicknesses onto "God", e.g.: wrath, spite etc... that is what "Man" is.
If I should transcend death, I don't count on an evil god that would be wholly intolerant of error.
I spoke to someone a while back about this opening and I was told that the girl with the stick on 00:50 looked scary for how they used that to end their opening. I saw it and I agree. It does look scary. See for yourself.
I remeber when The Waltons was new, I hated it and resented being forced to watch by my parents. But today, I see an episode and I can't stop watching. Amazing how our likes and dislikes change.
@prkendora Partially true. I blame a lack of control on the continued downward spiral of tasteful entertainment. It's all done in the name of marketing and mental health, but I think it's impact is highly negative, and such poor programming is bound to cause more tension than is meant to release for society.
I just got this show on DVD I got 1-5 seasons for my Mom, but I've grown fond of the show. Hell, I have the theme on my MP3 Player! Actually I'm watching the Waltons right now.
Yes, a very good healthy loving family show. And it is no wonder kids are like they are and adults are so misserable now with all the violence and negitivity on tv and the world in general.
I am so tired of misserable people just getting about their bizness and not being able to look me in the eye
I met Richard Thomas this weekend here in san antonio...he was in the play 12 angry men.....he was juror number 8...He was fab along with the rest of the cast...we met John Boy back stage...he still looked the same as ever...his skin is amazing for a 55 year old guy....

I'm glad someone has put up "The Waltons" theme vids. because "The Waltons" was the most realistic of it's time history TV shows (The depression era 1930's - to late 1940's).
