The thing with sequels and remakes of slasher films is they always claim they'll remain serious, but just get more and more ridiculous. That or they keep attempting to make it a horror/comedy or rely on gore and sex and forget the tension. When I think old school I think movies like this. They represented something of the Val Lewton style of using that inner fear of what's around the corner and relying on character and tension to make it scary. Horror movies from the 10's-80's were the best.

@forsakendragon91 this is the original. and yes it is worth watching, just as influential as Halloween, but goes unnoticed in the wake of that films success. One of the best horror films I have seen. Go to free horror movies and you can watch it on their site.
