So apparently the producer of Resident Evil, Kawata (not Shinji Mikami the God...this other guy who has been there for awhile) doesn't understand why everyone thinks Barry Burton is comedic. APPARENTLY he's a "very serious character" in Japan, that there should be no humour involved with him...which is very saddening, because I believe Mikami would get the humour in "What Is This" along with "HO MAH KWAD". Long live Barry and Mikami! UPPERCUT CASH(Cap)COM for not putting you in more games!

Thats messed up! Maybe they had a good voice actor for Barry in Japan so nothing came off as funny to them. But he's gotta understand that bad translation can lead to amusement for us and sometimes, like in Barry's case, it can lead amusement + awesomeness + liking the character way more than he's supposed to be liked!

@mrevilcheese Can't be that. The Japanese versions use English voice actors and just give them Japanese subtitles. I think there are two possibilties.

1.) Since he's not speaking Japanese, it might be that the downright hilarity of what he says and how he says it is lost on the Japanese.

2.) The Japanese are just really fucking weird and don't see the absurdity in a grown man calling a woman a "Jill sandwich" in a very grim, life or death, horrifying situation.

Actually, Resident Evil didn't use japanese voice actors in it's Japanese releases (Played Biohazard 1 to 3 in the PS1 before) , they just use Japanese subtitles using the same English voice actors. However, the reason for "serious" is because basically (WORD OF GOD) and since they understood his English (And not the context / delivery of his lines) they consider him serious.

Addition : Heck, if you watch Japanese classes on English, a lot of them talk like Barry! Especially the ones that try to speak with an American accent. So it's kind of hard not to snicker listening to them.

Calling them Cashcom or Crapcom is a common practice, either due to the games they release not being up to par to their promises or because they're just trying to make an extra buck. If you want to see them trying to gather every penny, look at the Mercenaries 3D...by making it one save only, they've eliminated all possibility of losing profit off the game by someone picking it up at a used game store. RE4HD and RECVXHD also have an issue.

Which is why I choose to call them "Cashcom" rather than "Crapcom", Crapcom is usually a statement when people aren't happy with something they put out in general. Look at Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, some love the idea while others think it's just a shameless attempt at more money and a lazy transition just to include Frank
