1- he didnt nearly die, he did only get an ankle injury.

2- the reason people say he nearly died is that they are refering to the fact htat had this happened a while ago when the HANS system hadnt been invented, then he would have probably died or had a much worse injury.

3- he recovered very quickly! if i remember rightly he raced in the next race? (though i could be wrong, it may have been the race after)
