I have that same notebook, do you have fan problems too? Motherfuckers, right after the warrenty expired damn fan bearings crapped out and thats 2 for 2 on HP notebooks.

You might consider getting a fater hard drive than what is provided with OEM, I noticed a significant boot time decrease with a 7200 RPM drive, I also managed to find XP drivers for the DV6636nr notebook, they are rare though. I think my next notebook will be hand assembled though. I have better luck troubleshooting and replacing parts on self built rigs. My desktop has been running for years withought problems and I tend to recycle hardware.

I got Windows 7 ultimate but before I installed I use this windows 7 upgrade advisor and it said some thing about my video card ( ATi HD 4870) like it soesnt support but I heard it uses same drivers as VISTA

and about my HDD

I got 500 gb and little bit from that like 19 gb is C disk

other all is D

Is there a way to make more on C disk so I could install win 7 ?

Well its a 64 bit system thus meaning it has more ram and faster specs. Also this was done on a notebook...now you tell me if there are any notebooks out there that run 64 bit OS and cost under $3,000 Higher end machine will run win7 quicker no duh

Like I stated early, if you would bother to read the other comments this was done on a linux based computer before so Grub menu was still on it. I didn't even say my computer was the "best" or anything I posted this to show it booting up, you don't like it? Don't view it or be my guest and upload a video with you booting windows 7

Well currently I am building a new rig...just money is kinda short right now :P it will be an i7 gaming rig with about 8gb ram 2x GTX 260 and some other neat stuff :]

go for the i7 920 and try to overclock it to 4.0ghz (the best in O.C terms)

1600 ddr3 will rock in your PC

i would recommend you instead of getting 2 gtx 260

get a 295gtx or 285gtx t would be kind of the same price

because 260gtx are around 200$ anyways

It actually doesn't take that much memory at all it really requires less specs than Vista requires!

1GHz processor (32- or 64-bit)

1GB of main memory (512mb will run it though)

16GB of available disk space

Support for DX9 graphics with 128MB of memory (for the Aero interface, so not really needed)

A DVD-R/W drive (to install of course)

It has been said what Windows 7 was supposed to be the real "vista release" it will be like vista but just have major fixes, it is to be the way windows vista shoulda been released...and well shortly after I made this my motherboard went capoot haha idk if it was Windows 7 or what but currently I am building a new desktop

Guys the reason it took so long was because like I said I previously was using Linux so I still had the Grub menu running. I took off my grub menu and now it boots in about 20 seconds maybe a lil less or so. And no my hardware isn't outdated.

Why is your Vista booting so slow? I have many serious claims that it boots faster, which is understandble, since services are now started on demand. This is not even a loaded OS and 35 seconds? That's slower than what I get on Vista X64, and that one is loaded with al kind of software.

Yup I said that it was a little faster just kind of similar to vista. I have been told and knew from reading about its fixes with capabilities and its new features...the feature I don't like though is the taskbar...seems waay to bulky for my taste
