  • Thank you for posting this interview. :-)

    Ah...Rest in Peace Liam...

(He brought joy to so many people.)

  • I all ways rememberer meeting Liam in Waterford, when i was child , and then only a few years ago ,. the change in the poor man but what a man he was ,god rest his sole ....

  • A true Hero and Giant among men!!!! Sleep well Liam your music will echo in our hearts, and the hearts of our children. Hero's Never Die they live on in the greatness of their deeds.

  • What a painful thing to watch. I knew Liam pretty well for most of the 60s and on and off after that and the man was just so full of life. Mind you, there is lots of life in this video even though his body is failing him but still, it pained me. I just wonder how he will be reincarnated.

  • Liam was sincere , impressive and as we all know ,gifted with a great musical voice and talent, wish that I could have met him and shook his hand, old fashioned and real was Liam Clancy, rest in peace and thanks for the wonderful entertainment, sincerly , Jim in P.E.I. Canada

  • rip liam

  • Liam saw his audience as ants, looking down from an airplane, the people who went to the concerts were insignificant little insects. He says so in this interview. He was easily the best member of Tommy Makem's backing band - Tommy was Ireland's biggest star ever, and he will always remain so.

  • Tommy Makem was Ireland's greatest singer ever - and Liam was easily the best singer in his backing band. RIP Liam, you were a great man.

  • This video of Liam Clancy is precious. He shares thoughts from his mind, heart and soul. I only hope he appreciated that his singing, as heard around the world, was treasured and will be for all time to come. The core messages of the songs he felt inside him that he did not hear come out as he sang, I know I heard and others as well. He was indeed the best. Jack Haffey.

  • Thank you for posting something so interesting from a great singer.

  • That was both upsetting and enlightening, the suffering that goes with genius, I'm not looking for agreement on this. Not a man you'd describe as being something else, he made a much better job of being himself. Liam gives the greatest of hope to many people, one of Ireland's great men and there are, luckily, many of them.

  • :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

  • god bless him rip Liam mate

  • creat irish muisic will not be the same after the death of the clancy brothers.

  • What a wonderful man! Rest in Peace, Liam Clancy!

  • A Great Man

  • A fine good Irishman

  • No fear no envy no meanness......rest in peace brother !!!

  • Bob Dylan on Liam Clancy: "I have never heard a singer as good as Liam, ever. He was just the best ballad singer I'd ever heard in my life."

    Well said, Bob.

Liam Clancy is to ballads what Louis Armstrong is to jazz.

  • you are so lucky to get to talk to that great man!!

  • liam- u spread more joy through your music than most men could dream...Rest easy, smile and be proud.

  • liam- u spread more joy through your music than most men could dream...Rest easy, smile and be proud.

  • A Bigger man than most... All these small comments here are a waist of time... Liam Clancy was a true hero of Ireland, its a pity there is not more around here in this back stapping nation to take his place.....

  • Well, I'm sure your mother was, so maybe THAT'S why your confused.

She used to beg to be langed and strangled and fisted in her ass... What was I to do?

  • Safe Journey Liam, may the angels of music guard you against any foe as you make your way home. No fear no envy no meanness will stand to you now brother. Slán go fóill Liam.

  • I give thanks there are still CD's and DVD's left of Liam and all the CB&TM. Their music has meant much to me for the past 40 or so years. They can be copied but never replaced.

  • what did he die of?

  • @iceaxe56 age...

  • Farewell Liam

    Solas na bhFlaitheas dó.

  • im a cork man and u must be a real langer to post something like that

  • I love you, Liam. You have been my inspiration to continue. I'll see you again.

  • Look at the mourners; bloody great hippocrates. Isn't it grand boys, to be bloody well dead?!

  • @cbrusharmy Let' s not have a sniffle let's have bloody good cry and always remember the longer you live the sooner you'll bloody well die. Good Bless, Liam.

  • Isn't it grand, boys, to be jolly well dead?!

  • his version of waltzin matilda will change alot of minds

  • Great documentary on a great Character. Ni bheidh a leithid ann aris

  • He was arguably the finest ballad singer of our times. We're greatly impoverished by his leaving us, but I'm sure he's singing somewhere in a Heavenly Choir.

As Ronnie Browne said of Roy, after Roy's death, "They'd better look to their laurels up there."

    Requiescat In Pace, Liam

  • Farewell and RIP, Liam. Your music and memory will live on.

  • Mr. Clancy... I just heard of it today, and I feel ashamed that I didn't learn it sooner. Lots of people have commented, and more will as they discover, but I just wanted to say, in words that don't seem close enough as I type this, that you weren't the first who made me pick up a guitar, but you were the first I remember hearing as a kid on road trips to anywhere in our van, where I couldn't sleep because I was transfixed by your words. And now... I just hope we can make you proud. So, Thanks.

  • I taught he was a bit of a langer anyway.

  • by the sounds of it your a dick..this is the best folk singer ever dylan even said it not that i needed his word but it helped.you prob like faggity music so shut it and dont post your crap on a legends video

  • Comment removed

  • @kgmurray YOU SAID: "I taught he was a bit of a langer anyway."

Do you now? What have you done in your life in the line of accomplishments; and more importantly to bring joy to your fellow human beings?

    (Jus' askin')

  • Liam was to me the first music I ever heard and (God willing) the last I will ever hear. I even met him once and tried to tell him how much the CB/TM meant to me...I couldn't find the word but he understood. He even sang a song for my departed father. I am a lifelong lover of music and am a musician, but no one and nothing will ever mean as much to me as Liam's singing. God bless, rest, and give glory.

  • He had such an amazing life. RIP

  • My life was enriched immeasurably by this musical giant among men. He will always be in my heart. Words alone cannot convey the grief we feel at his loss.

  • The Land you lived on and sang about will never forget you Liam.

    Rest yourself in busy peace.

Say hi to Ms. Guggenheim, ye mad man!

    xxx

  • Liam Clancy was the Chieftain of song.

He pulled the songs from a long way back.

The words of the rambling poets of Ireland ran through his blood.

  • Rest in Peace Liam. Words are not enough.

  • RIP Liam Clancy

  • Rest in Peace Liam

  • Slan Abhaile

  • His last interview RIP

  • Liam passed away on the afternoon of 4th December 2009. Rest In Peace Liam.

  • RIP to all the clancy brothers

  • Not a great film, what we really wanted was the low down on tommy makem and which brother he hated the most,

the whole thing was a bit tame alittle bit sentimental from an old man,but I still love the guy,how much money did they make etc...

  • 'what WE really wanted to know...'?? Speak for yourself.

  • you mean what you wanted was the low down etc...etc ...what a stupid comment to leave....shame

  • this was directed by my friends dad!!!!

  • Saw The Yellow Bittern in Dungarvan yesterday. Stunning, beautiful, poignant! Not at all what I expected - but a fitting tribute to an exceptional man. Such a shame you weren't there last night Liam -the theatre was overflowing with love for you. Get well soon. Eileen

  • I agree with you Eibhlin. Great doc, and so moving. Liam is under no illusions - he is to be so respected for his attitude and approach to life.I hope he gets well soon.

    All the best Liam.

    Robbie.

  • Hi Robbie,

Liam Clancy was the Chieftain of song.

The words of the rambling poets of Ireland ran

    through his blood.

    May he rest in peace.

  • I like watching Paul Byrne' face at last - glad to meet you, Paul!

The way Liam Clancy is speaking is enjoyable!

    So smoothing!
