  • It is so hard for me to figure out which UH song I like best but this is definitely one I always liked and still do. They were so far ahead of their time, it's difficult to put into words. Legends! Definitely Legends!

  • This song has a great guitar part and great background vocals. They never played this song live all the five times I saw them.

I got stoned to this song many a time and it never failed to rip my head off my shoulders.

Good Columbian pin head really did the trick and a bottle of Boones Farm Apple wine as well!

  • I have been listening to this song for 40 years, and still, each time it is perfect as it has always been.

  • why can't i find a woman who listen's to our music

  • @chipbuhl i get to the conclusion that girls mostly listen to music just for the entertaining sentimental(or melodical part) i mean a girl can jump like crazy at a punk concert and then dance some crap like lady dada .Guys with some degree of sensibility got took by the technical artistic (and cultural) side of music getting often "into" a specific genre .As usual the right stays in the middle, just my opinion Cheers.

  • why can't i find a woman who listen's to our music

  • Listen!

  • i love how Uriah heep replaces some unesecary guitar solos with good riffs and piano-keyboard parts.

and when there is a guitar solo, it is brilliantly fused with the song,

is certainly 1 off the big 4 of hardrock

Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Uriah Heep.

  • @jamirosmajicrocks I think you can get many opinions of who the top rock groups are but what is nice is It's all great stuf . from the early mid sixties to the earlu seventies there was so much good satuf. some listened to zep some to heap some to fudge. I listened and still listen to it all . i cant and won't place any cause tonight I'm in the mood for heap , later mght be fudge. I's all so deep . great.

  • @RAY2424 excuse my spellin wanted to get it out fast.

  • @RAY2424 Yhea thats kind of true, Music comes along with mood swings.

  • what can i day out standing a song to get pissed to or even stoned lol

  • I've got this album on vinyl. ^_^ LOVE it!

  • @Uwohilatlitigv this was the only album i ever bought from a gas station.. it must have been the great spirit that lead me to it

  • @longfootbuddy Sonkwehon:we ni:ken ne:'e?

  • This is an example of timeless music: I've never once heard this song until now, only heard other Uriah Heep songs because of my father's records, and yet I favorited this 20 seconds into it.

And yes, the solo is sheer magic.

  • Ok guys, ken did a great solo of guitar but, IMHO, this song reveal how good was Gary Thain on bass... he did the song with the bass line... what a marvellous player he was !

  • @boccaccesco I was listening to Gary Thain when i was like 5 yrs old im 45 and he is still a God! awesome bassist, probably the best at that time that i heard!

  • Great song! Great Guitar! Great Byron!

  • @DebwesPiazzo YOURE so good my friend

  • Uriah Heep is one of the best rock bands EVER! Not one of the best - I wouldn't hesitate to give them number 2 or 3... And this is their best album, and this is the best song from that album. I didn't have to be stoned to be moved by the lyrics, voice and guitar solos so much that I almost cried. This song is so F::ING AWESOME it should go down somewhere like the Rock Hall of Fame like... FOREVER! It is sad no one makes music like this anymore :-(

  • @JofferX You are soo right. this songs moves me so much, always gives me the chills. It did it when I was 15, 25, 35,45. You get my drift. This is in in my top 3 albums all time, every genre.

  • broken like the heavens

  • una oraciòn por David y Gary, ellos hicieron grandes al Heep

  • The solo is not fast or anything but it is very beautiful and it makes you feel like floating in space!

  • Ok I clicked dislike only because whoever uploaded this broke up Paradise/The Spell which is actually just one song, and not in the same way as Living Loving Maid/ Heartbreaker but more directly one song as they blend back and forth much the same way and No Sugar Tonight/ New Mother Earth by The Guess Who. Wow just thinking about all the really creative people back then makes me that more disappointed in most of today's music. I guess I was lucky to have grown up listening to this music.

  • this is my all time favorite heavy metal band!!!

  • URIAH HEEP---"THE SPELL"

  • fuck...the solo takes me to the place found on this album's cover picture

  • @malmsteen80 I'm in the cover of that album!

  • One time, when I was really stoned, I listened to this song really loud with the iTunes Visualizer on, and when the solo hit I thought of a wizard rising above his city and becoming blessed by his Master, and spreading his protective magics across the entire city.

And I cried. I seriously sat there and cried. I will never forget it.

  • @MetalOxy No need to be stoned for that. I have cried during that incredibly beautiful solo. It's a brilliant song.

  • Listen to this......greatest ever! Lyric, sound, voise and all:-)

  • hauntingly beautiful

  • this record should be in any serious rock collection.

  • Ouch, u broke up paradise/the spell, it ruins the whole tune man! Please go back and fix it, i'll be waiting! ;o) *taps fingers*

  • lee kerslake...

  • Man, David and Ken sounded great together!

  • Always loved the doubephased transition.

  • One of the best albums ever. Had it way back then, but lost it when I moved from germany to the USA.

  • Nice comment Strap, I wholeheartedly agree.

  • great holistic bands are--GONG, MOTHER GONG, MAGMA, APHRODITIES CHILD, EAT STATIC, SYSTEM 7, LISA GERRARD, DEAD CAN DANCE, LARRY CORYELL, KAZUMI WATANABE, STOMU YAMASHTA, PATRICK BERNARD, LOST AT LAST, MELTING EUPHORIA, OZRIC TENTACLES, JADE WARRIOR, SPHONGLE, STEVE TIBBETTS, OREGON, SHAKTI, TONINHO HORTA, EGBERTO GISMONTI, BILL LASWELL, MAGICAL POWER MAKO, ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE, GODESS T, ACID MOTHERS GONG.

  • It almost sounds like a "Rock Opera". Fantastic!!!

  • God, what a GREAT ablum this is!!! Surely takes me back in time. Great memories of friends and alot of fun. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have grown up during this period of time and the great music we had!!

  • This album is truly magical

  • I saw these guys in Germany in a gym in 85. Crowd of about 1200 max. It was a great show, Mick doing magic guitar was really cool too!

  • An album rock station I listened to when I was young played this song every day at the end of the days program. Sometimes I tuned in just to her them go off the air. One of the best songs ever made!

  • Uriah heep just made such beautiful ,inspirational, original music.....................nuf said!! :)

  • Pure INSPIRATION. A breath of fresh air in a very oppressive world that we live in. The strings in here are classical.

  • just reminds me of high school and driving out on country roads to get high

  • beautiful, magical, perfect sound. the joy of making music can be heard in this song.

  • the 'boxter' sure can play the guitar

  • I worn this album out as a kid.

All great albums had to be listened from beginning to end, like this one.

  • The solo is good, but let's not ignore the bass, eh?

  • One would say.. just close your eyes and let Demons And Wizards do the rest.

  • One would say.. just close your eyes and let Demons And Wzards do the rest.

  • One of the best solos ever makes me fly!!!

  • This track contains one of the most "magical" guitar solos ever! Nothing quite specific but so good sounding solo! It´s really magic!

  • @Strap1205 Ken Hensley on slide guitar! Ken IS a magician...he wrote most of Heeps songs and sang on many with Dave Byron he also played keyboards on all Heep including this one.

  • @openeyes691 The slide solo is Ken casting the "spell". This shit was brilliant! Wow I forgot how brilliant. Sounds like Queen was listening to Uriah Heep to me as well as many others including me. They had so much influence on my music...yet I never realized how much until now.

  • @Strap1205 You should download the tabs for the solo. It's so simple, yet as you say, one of the most magical solos ever. It's basically a slide guitar solo on the same string. No picking or shredding, just pure magic.

  • mieux que mozart, uriah heep avait du rythme de la sensualité, que du bonheur

  • nice!

  • 'Magic' in both senses of the word.

  • GREAT...

  • Listened to this album (Demons & Wizards) during Army service in 1973 in Germany, loved it then and now, timeless perfection. The Hammond organ lended so much depth to their music.

  • And the continuation..if you know the album
