Being tough is a decision and it's a tough decision to make. It's a decision that needs to be made over and over until it becomes your nature. Once it's in your nature though, it becomes one of your strongest attributes and one of your most admirable qualities.
@techfan2121 That's rare that they would use a NBA player for example to exemplify what mental toughness is defined "AS". Kobe when it's all said and done will be in the conversation of greatness. When he retire the league will take a hit in revenue some..
I think this commercial right here is the factor that makes Kobe pull ahead of Lebron the mentality that "Assassins Mentality" that no matter how bad the games going just keep going til the end. that's why can't miss prospects in any sport with all the measurables and freak of nature abilities are busts after they are drafted high or get a big money deal cause the mental aspect of the game is not with them.
@Whatsfudenna kobe a warrior?he will not last in early 90's era if he got a chance to face the detroit the knicks all best defensive teams he will not last and he cannot earn a champions he knows that he even admits that jordan is the best that ever play the game
@lafunut Yes basketball is easy. To give you a hint, it's lifting heavy that is hard and what had dominated sports. You need lots of mental toughness and determination in lifting heavy. You'll never understand it while you work your ass up to an 800 pound squats. Anyway, I agree. Basketball is bitch compared to lifting and gaining some muscles.
dont let your emotions get mixed in with the game, i have got T'd for getting to angry, this happened more than once too. but i got better since then bcuz i realized it was just one bad call or it was just one bad shot. and besides there is always next time.
To become mentally tough is easier said than done. I think it needs to be trained like your body shape. I've realized that the mental part is more important than the physical. Personally I have the strength and athleticism, but it will not make significant difference like mental toughness will. The best player on my team is the worst athlete, but has mental toughness and good concentration ability.
"I have the strength and athleticism" What do you even have?
worst athlete? It's just basketball, it isn't athletics!
Athletics = lifting heavy. It's never basketball. Go ahead and play a funny easy game all day you want, that's not gonna excel you in athletics. Every shit that lifted heavy are the ones who'll always dominate in every single sport. Even shoot-all-you-want Ray Allen or Paul Pierce is on the stupid dunk contest.
@Obi1BenoBEE30 Good question and there may be different answers to it. What has worked for me has been to think before I act and reflect over the way I handled surtain situations. I also believe in the importance os being able to force yourself through tough situations and make the best out of them. That has given me more confidence both on and off the court.
@Obi1BenoBEE30 with every tough situation that comes at you in life, you gotta focus on what you need to do to solve it, not let it affect you, and make he best out of any situation. If you can do this in life, you can do it in a basketball game.
@Obi1BenoBEE30 im probably late but you push yourself past your limits, or when you want to give up you push that thought aside and push on. like going on a run, or doing PT, its not really training but never ever giving up
@noonevincecarterfan I absolutely agree with you there. I have the physical ability, but it really truly hit me that mental toughness is more important when we faced a team that was quite simply destroying us. We were low on confidence, didn't know what to do and our minds weren't focussed. I then said to myself, "you know what, fuck this, I'm not scared anymore, I'm gonna show you what I can do, I am not scared". I kept saying this over and over, and I ended up being the best player on court.
LOL i LOVE kobe bryant and i chuckle when someone says that....Michael Jordan hands down the greatest basketball player of all time. Kobe is amazing though and the best player in the world right now.
@Ammaculate44 what is even your argument stupid cunt? I beg to differ it is you who has no knowledge in the world of athletics. Basketball is easier than raw power lifting and it's just my bitch. Therefore Lifting heavy weight is superior. You don't have talent at all!
