  • Great Scott!!!

  • Sound a bit like Daft Punk!

  • @samusphazonsuit23567 dude, i'm 14 and i own an atri 2600, intelevision, colecovision, commodore 64 model 2 and shit tons more.

  • @superstarbucklucky Same guy here, I actually have an 800 dollar gaming PC that I use for emulators a lot of the time lol

  • @superstarbucklucky Hang on to them until you're 40 years old like me and they will be worth a ton of money. My garage is full to the brim with this stuff... Don't know if I will ever bear to sell them though!

  • can u use shredz64 with usb guitar (xbox360 in this case) on emulators like vice?

  • Still so awesome.

  • God damn that sounds fucking awesome! The Commodore 64 kicks so much ass!

  • This just wouldn't have been able to be done in the 80's as I imagine back then it would be too expensive to make the guitars.

  • really cool! I was there when commode64 appeared!

  • i wish i could make cool games like this! my c64 is broken though:(

  • @samusphazonsuit23567 Youre retarded.

  • @Imphipis Yes, he is retarded. He wants to play a system where it takes actual skill to win the game, whereas with the 360 most of the games revolve around killing people while applying auto aim.

  • awesome i love 8-bit music

  • minimal Guitar Hero

  • Fuck my PS3, my Commodore 64 IS COMING ON MONDAY!!!!!

  • This is beyond awesome.

  • @samusphazonsuit23567 I still have my old commandore 64 but it doesn`t work...sucks : /

  • my c64 is broken:,(

  • Good i would love to get my hands on a c64 and watching these videos make me want to go Hunt one down even more...

  • Man I love the SID Chip, such a unique sound. I have 2 C64's myself, talk about endless hours of fun. I'd love to have this for mine!

  • This brought a smile to my face! I remember playing with my cousins C=64 way back around 1987! I got one in the mid 90s :)

  • Anybody interested in some new Commodore samples?

Click my name to view COMMODORE 64 SAMPLES PACK: SFX SOUND EXPANDER IN 'C'. If you click the link below it you are also taken to a special selection of SID sounds and effects taken from famous games and applications.

  • @samusphazonsuit23567

i bought a c64 when i was 15 ;) and since that i play regularly with it.. nearly every day.. i would give my ps3 away for that lovely object!

  • Unbelievable, great job!! I know some of the older systems were never pushed to their limits.

  • awsome!

They should re release the C64 again, but not in a Joystick and maybe have like an SD card loader and usb joystick interface, they could make it smaller and people could make new games for it, It could sell really cheap and bring back bedroom programing

  • @samusphazonsuit23567

    AMEN TO THAT BRO! AMEN!

  • Go back in time, and sell this crap to people. You will be richer than bill gates.

  • What's the name of that tune!? It's AWESOME!!!!

  • @NatoDiNuovo Ex State of Mind

  • i need to boy a C64 ^^,

    right now

    #LOL

  • Seems a bit unresponsive. =(

  • that track is just awesome!

  • think about develop this game several years ago.

    you'd be fu*kin rich :D

    GENIUS!

  • G E N I U S

  • i could probably port it to wii homebrew as a wad comment if you want it only with your permision of course dude this pwns

  • Porting C64 games to Wii? You're more likely to get it to work with an emulator, not by porting. It'd be easier to write something from scratch.

  • It sounds like the music from a Classic NES Game! Great job!

  • @OfficialVGOvideos C64 had supperior sound to NES. NES could only do square, sawtoth , and noise. SID chip could do sawtooth, triangle, pulse, noise among a dozen other features the NES could only dream of. Thats not to say NES didn't have some bad-ass music made for it, but it's sound just wasn't a match to the SID chip.

  • Great, SID is simply the best!

    Funny idea, well done!

  • awesome

  • Troll. This game is awesome.

  • You completely missed the point of the video 9_9

  • I wish there was a way to get an audio file with this actual tune on it...made by the C64. This is awesome.

  • Timeless technology. And just imagine ... if the C64 still does good today ... how much advanced was when launched. And don't forget that SID and VICII were developed in less than one year. Real engineering.

  • Because you can hold the button down before you have to hit the strum bar

  • I'm diggin' that chiptune, runnin' through a real tunechip!

  • this is pretty darn cool. big 1 up for you.

  • awesome, and the song is awesome to, where to GET??

  • can you please play that hotel california song thats on there?

  • Now play it on expert!!

    Kidding, kidding.

Great job man, wish I had your talent.

  • 10 print "COOL!"

    20 goto 10

  • missed the ;

  • Great Work, And i love the sound of that song :)

  • Someone needs to invent a time machine, take this back to the 80's and make a bajillion dollars.

  • imagine how new this would have been in the 80's? it would be soooo conmpletely different to all other games at the time

  • Well, your websites still are not working. :(

  • This is some great stuff.. wish we had this back in the day on the c64. ;)

  • do it! i'm 17 and i've got one!

  • Hey Man, awesome work, love the C64! Possible upload of the song in .mp3 format? Or can anyone convert it from the the .sid file? I've got a Mac and can't convert sound file. Thanks In advance.

  • how do you get the .sid file from the .d64 rom file anyway?

  • Comment removed

  • This is fantastic! Also a great reminder of how good the "noise" waveforms sounded (those drums are teh hawt) on the c-64. Looking forward to more of this kind of thing.

  • this is just great. I couldn't imagine that you were doing this on a REAL c64, I thought you worked this out with an emulator. But... wow, respect! That's really awesome! I truly adore your work <3

  • i like this song more then the zelda song

  • While I'm not sold on this type of game (I see more value in real guitar training rather than Simon-esque note/color matching), I think you've done a great job on this. I'm intrigued by the use and interpretation of programmed notes via SID files versus sampled clips. A version of this for Amiga that uses the similar MOD format would be great (MOD has such a great library of stereo songs like Guitar Slinger!).

  • well, this is a great project for the Commodore 64... but I totally agree with you about all of the Guitar Hero and Rockband FAKE guitar playing... it's very disappointing.

  • where and how can i buy this hardware?

  • I lift my hat for you... I was basically brought up with C64 music... Rob Hubbard, Chris Hülsbeck, Ben Daglish etc where like gods to me... sometimes I go through some of their games on my own C64 just to listen to the music,

When I saw your project I was amazed... would be awsome to go threw the shreds in songs from for example last ninja 2...

This is a dream come true for an oldie like me who lived through childhood together with my beloved C64.... you deserve a medal for this :)

  • same here!

  • People like you are the ultimate enemy of anyone striving to do something creative. Please stop talking.

  • So you don't consider chiptunes/SID music an art form then?

  • If you think writing games for these older systems is easy with 'free developing kits,' in many cases you can forget it. Who cares who has access to it? Do you have a hobby? So what if this is his? I applaud him for learning how to pull this off, and if it's what he likes, who cares?

  • As he said in the first video; he's simply combining 2 things he loves; C64 and GH. What's wrong with that? If you can do it; why not? :)

  • Comment removed

  • It's Free

  • Awesome!

  • Can you upload original song?

  • Aw some program, but if you want it to load faster you might want to invest in a fast load cartridge for the Commodore 64

  • this is probably stupid, but will this work on a regular dell computer??

  • There are C64 emulator for the PC. However, I do not know whether you can connect a joystick to your PC (perhaps you need to have a USB to DB9 joystick convertor). Now that would be necessary to have the full experience.

  • Vice will work. It can use any USB Joystick/ Controller you have.

  • Megapwn

  • eat your heart out daft punk

  • oohhh my goood this music is so fuuucking cool *__*

and the program too of course <3

oh how i wish i had witnessed these times...

i vaguely remember mothballing my fathers old C64 & C128 somewhere... ahhh have to search them now xD

    ps: more songs pleeez :P

  • I had Amiga 1200 and use it to make music with Protracker and AHX (tracker that produces exact SID sounds). I often watch MTV2 and I see that those chip sounds are coming back in today's alternative music and that's fucking great! Listen to the called 'Skeleton Boy' by Friendly Fires here on YT. :D

  • that sounded fuckin cool

  • nice

  • u guys just doing games for the c64?

  • That's amazing, always loved my C-64, I don't have one anymore though, I grew up with Commodore computers. Classics never die! :)

  • this is great, brings back memories. Good job!

  • I almost believed that the speed of light was 64 as a kid ( C=64 right? ha ha ).

    But seriously, cool stuff.

  • wow where was this back in my dayz.. it would have sold like hotcakes. man bring back memories.

  • Joepod: Lots of people still use their C64s... so you know... I can count. The number's higher than frickin' 50!

  • Indeed. :) C64 forever!

  • Dude youre a genius :D

  • All hail the C with wings!

  • I like song.

  • Wow!

  • awesome ! YOU RULE man !

  • chiptune != sid tune, imo.. chiptunes exist basically for every platform, while sid tunes are specific for the c64. so, yes, a sid tune is a chiptune, but a chiptune is not necessarily a sid tune.

  • All hail the Commodore 64!

  • THATS COOL!! Me WANT IT!

  • Fernando de Argentina, te felicito me puso muy contento ver que la Commodore 64 siga con vida y dando mas para la gente que la disfruto de chico!!! gracias y felicitaciones

  • this is fucking awsome! haha beats the playstation version anyday :P

  • Wow, saw a reference to Jaroen Tel on the screen. Demoscene and SID tune GOD!

Remember kids, this thing was done with 1MHz of power. So, like, a fraction of your mobile phone most likely. My graphics calculator has more power.

  • I think Dragonforce on this thing would be pretty bad ass.

  • Super cool. A testament to the flexibility of the old c64. I wonder if the current gen of computers will inspire such dedication a dozen years later.

  • Probably not, since they've been pretty much all PCs since the mid-'90s, with the odd Mac. I can't imagine people 20 years from now arguing over whether Dell or HP was better.

  • -WOW! I think this is supercool! =D

  • Very good job. I appreciated a lot.

    Bye Bye from Italy

    Alex

  • I appreciated a lot. Very good job.

    Bye bye alex from Italy

  • Niiiiice. you should get the tetris theme to play. commodore 64's are cool

  • better find me some nice crpg to play... i tired... there's no fun rpg right now... nothing even close to fallout or baldrus or icewind or neverwinter

  • cameo? you made all the 80's funkateers cry out there.

  • What happens if you miss a note? I mean is there any audible notification of that?

  • no there is no audible

  • well ... just ... WOOOOOW ! Congratulations !

  • dude... thats AWESOME!

  • great c64 funk theme

  • Go Homebrew movement!!

I just love old systems for this kind of thing, you never know what someone will come up with next.

You made great use of the Sid-II chip there.

    Not just bleeps and blips!

  • I hope you're joking. The guy's a programmer, he made this program to show how awesome old systems can be!

  • K I thought he had some program but hell idk, maybe there rly was a GH that old. 99.99% probably not but u never no. Well anyway, THIS GUY IS AN AWESOME PROGRAMER THEN!!!!!!

  • sounds like tetris

  • I had a C64 for some time ago and this program would of made it big in the 80's. Sad to say is that Commodore did not focus on marketing on their systems such as the Amiga (Think of guitar hero on that!!!) and the C64. These machines were and still are awesome machines. Thanks for showing this program and the PS joystick device.

  • I need to get more C64 games with awesome music like this. any suggestions?

  • they called chiptunes.. download em into ur ipod or whatever n listen to em.. i used to get em from chiptune [d0t] com[e] but now idk if it still up.. try 8bitcollective [d0t] com[e]

  • Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look into it!

    Chiptunes are good.

  • no problem man.. and actually chiptune [d0t] com[e] works.. on internet explorer but it doesn't work on Chrome browser so i didn't notice it.. so thats about it.. yah use chiptune over all on internet explorer

  • get a life?... lol you know just because you think its nerdy doesn't mean he doesn't have a life. what makes what you do with yours more important than what he does with his?

  • i wonder what this song would sound like in todays instruments. i think ill reproduce it on my keyboard i love this tune but in 8 bit format i dont think ill want to play this in my car with my two 12's!! I love this beat

  • stfu, it took some real talent to make this.

  • Besides, the average gamer age is 30.

  • he playin games cuz he wants to

gaww some people are so stupid

  • if its that bad y did u even click on it..?

  • 2Joey23 u are a loser get out of here O_O

  • what if this IS his life ? What if he got payed BIGTIME for this program, and still gets payed for it ?

Then YOU are the one without a life, and got no right to call him names.

btw, calling a dude like him a nerd in discriminating.

  • lol stop trolling

  • jojojo i like this game xdd

  • c64 for short

    dumb ass

  • your the only short one around here pal

  • omg!! Commodore 64 rulez! Intel core 2 duo sux xD ^^

  • Dude that was awesome :D

  • Nice. :-)# I regularly play vintage games on my PC, with BlueMSX and ProSystem Emulator, for example.

  • If I hasnt blown my c64 I would love to get this. I miss it.

  • Really awesome job putting that together. Very nice to see people still putting energy in that loverly machine called the C64!

  • Commodore 64

Did you not read the the Video Title?

  • c64 for short

    dumb ass

  • Wow.. Amazing. This is again one of the moments where I at first can't believe what I'm seeing. What an amount of work to get this done. Respect! I don't suppose there is an alternative way to conrol the game by keyboard only (just to try it out quickly)?

  • Nice hawaii shirt though.

  • Ah, but they're good quality blips.

  • Can someone put the original song on youtube? Or can I download it somewhere?

  • I agree, Ex State Of Mind kicks major rear.

  • I've already hunted down the chiptune Ex State of Mind and downloaded it. And have already made a MP3 of thanks to me using the Chipamp plug-in for Winamp.

  • Absolutely fantastic. Someone needs to adapt the music from Ultima IV for this!

  • Dude, this is amazing. You will make TONS of money off this.

  • Can this software be used for any SID file? That would be pretty cool if you could guitar-hero to some classic C64 tunes by Hubbard and Tim Follin.

  • now all they gotta do is bring this to the n64!!!

  • AWESOME. downright awesome.

  • You could try,but I don't think it's such an good idea...

  • This song is awesome.8Bit music is awesome. This hax is awesome.

  • esta zuper mega cagadisimo esta mjor el GUITAR HERO PARA WII ok osea esa madre ni sirve esta super chafa ok
  • can u change the difficulty.....im not hating im just asking cuz its a great idea
