  • How exactly do I paint the bones and in what order?

  • I would love to get back into this game again...

but the players i played were a bit to competitive for me to enjoy myself...

  • Sounds like a very cheap advertisement for GW paints.

Devlan Mud is a bad choice for this project because its too expensive.

I would rather use Army Painter or Vallejo Washes.

  • What ever happened to Tim?

  • I am trying skull white with devlin mud then adding a dry brush of bleached bone. This really doesnt seem to be looking that great on bone compared to starting with a bleached bone base coat and using devlin mud then highlighting with skull white. The problem is that while I have some figures based in bleached bone it turns out they don't make that spray anymore so it looks like I may have to get an airbrush.

  • That guy is a bit like a cool asshole.

That charismatic douche-bag that you know you should hate, but instead you do whatever he says.

  • @Nuclearmouse you mean your average GW store employee? :D hehehe

  • I've done exacly as he said, bought battalion, some heroes, same paints...

Man I paint 10 models per day and I think mine look sightly better than his(no offence dude ;p).

I totally recommend such deal( I know it sounds like creepy advertisment but its true!)

but there's one problem, to paint such an army(2 battalions) you gonna need at least 3 devlan muds ;d

  • I think I may get back into this.

I tried 40k but I like the look and feel of this more.

But with all the school work n stuff I dunno when I'll be able to paint them D:

  • Its nice to see people using white undercoat. It really helps bring out the colors, and combined with the new washes it makes painting very fast and easy like you said.

  • I love this man you are the most awesomest dude ever! Your the one that got me started on tomb kings!!

  • true..i use it all the time for my eldar, chao,s vampire count skeletons, and nids!!!awesome stuff!

  • I believe in the power of the Devlan mud wash!

  • first i was doubting to choose between skaven, chaos warriors or tomb kings now i dont have to doubt no more tomb kings it is

  • ok it makes the figures look better nothing else, why does uit go faster?

  • @swedespartan

because you dont have to use a load of dry brushing to get the same effect so you save paint and time

  • @naam123hj Iam swedish so what exactly is dru brushing? I just paint a spot, paint another spot, wait and so on.

  • @swedespartan

you need to use a slightly larger brush, put some paint on it make sure that you get as most of the paint of the brush before you start at the miniature and simply go up and down at the spot you want to drybrush. and there are lots of video's on youtube

  • what does the wash do?

  • Question? Do you glue the miniature's together before or after you paint them

  • Washes are God, specially Devlan M. and G. Sephia

  • i came on devlan mud.

  • Hmm i'm really considring picking up a tomb king army soon , ive always wanted to do them and they're gonna get rereleased in May so chance are their skeleton warriors are gonna double price so i might start buying now.

  • You don't have to stick to the same colours do you? I mean instead of blue i can choose say a purple? :)

  • @PhyschoGuides Of course you can! At the end of the day, they are your miniature's, and the colour scheme is all your choice. Example, my Vampire counts are painted in light green and bronze. They look amazing for me! So yeah, do what you wanna do! Hope they go well for ya. :D

  • I MISSED THE OLD BACKGROUND PLAYBACK THEME COME ON DAVE!!!

  • how much is one of those bags?

  • @Jakiladd Fucking 80 Euros...

  • i would play warhammer but its so expensive... :(

  • u know im egyptian but i didnt like tomb kings till i saw this video xD

  • Ahh, the video is cheesy.

  • I don't know where Devlan is, but that place must have some great looking mud.

  • This guys hilarious.

  • MAGIC MUD!!!!!!

    The best wash they made!

  • lol "just as simple as that eh" i love u guys and your Canadian acksents

  • @LastRussianEmporer sell them/trade them for an army you do want...be like "hey i got 1300 points of Space MArines and I'll trade for 1000 - 1300 points of Tau/Dark Eldar if anyone's interested". I'm sure someone would take you up on the offer...or sell them and get whatever army you want.

  • sounds like hes tryin to sell somthing lol

  • i got 1300 points of chaos space marines and 3/4 of it are painted and it took me

    7 weeks

  • how does that wash work? Im just starting and i Loved Tomb Kings :)

  • I like Tomb kings and Vampire counts , but i also like the dwarves :( idk who to pick , also in 40K my girlfriends bro is giving me his space marines but i prefer dark eldar or tau idk what to doo

  • @LastRussianEmporer dwarfs r going to be OP in the new rulebook (you can premeasure

  • @SkartoothStudios what i did for my necrons is i did a very heavy drybrush of the main color, so in my case adeptes battle gray, then, while i washed my whole model with badab black, i also washed the base, this gave it the black in the cracks of the sand. and left the gray on top, i would suggest going with the gray again with a final drybrush to get it back up. this would work for other colour too, just change the wash to devlen mud for browns and greens.

  • just drybrush with the mudwash-stuff after painting?

  • does this "devlan mud - wash" work??

  • WHAT SHOULD I PICK:

    lizardmen

    darkelves

  • @roccomedy All though I love my Lizardmen pick darkelves! And remember BLACK GUARD!!!

  • @roccomedy lizardmen all the way

whats better than an army of gigantic dinosaurs and one of the best magic casters in the game?

also they don't run away fast because of cold blooded

  • im thinking of startin warhammer fantasy

    i like:

    tomb kings

    lizardmen

    ogre kingdoms

    i cant chose

    what do u lot think?

  • When it's your first army, I think you should chose by the looks/feelings you have of it, so that you like the army from the start.

Don't think so much about the power (as long as you're not very besotted with winning) but what you think suits you best, eg which background you're interested in.

I started with the dark elves some weeks ago cause I like their society and the way they're presented in WH and I love it :)

  • Funny, those are the ones that caught my eye too. I'm going to start with Tomb Kings because I'm just a bit focused on the undead and having immortality, so you really can only choose an army by the first, or second, impressions you get of them.

It's not like you would want to spend the time to skim through every single army book to decide what specific units/tactics/strategies are available.... especially since all the armies are so well balanced that it doesn't make that much of a difference.

  • @cezrulez If you have a ton'o money and like heavy smash your face brutal infantry Ogre kingdoms. If your lookig for a magic pumping Merciless lighting strike force Tombkings. If you want all that wrapped in a evil taco Lizardmen, so what I'm trying to say is pick Lizardmen! You'll have fun and it's about an average cost army.

  • I would HIGHLY reccomend not picking ogre kingdoms. If you truly love their look then go for them, but they don't play well, even if used well, and i personally dont like the models. I myself have used lizardmen and own tomb kings. Tomb kings rock, their learning curve is a bit steeper than lizard mens but the look and feel of the army is awesome, just be prepared to paint a lot of bone. Lizardmen are a very nice army, moderately difficult to get the hang of and very versatile, look great aswell

  • @cezrulez Tomb kings.... come to the dark side......

  • @cezrulez Ogres, because they requires less minitures so you don't pay asmuch. The only problem is most people consider them as weak.

  • ya im starting a tomekings army its going to be frist army ever and i was a lot of your painting vids so i got a head start on painting but the thing that sucks that no one were i live plays it so im going to try to get my freinds to play it :D

  • i sprayed them black dry brush dehneb stone then dry brush skull white then devlan mud

  • But you still can wash your models' metal parts with Devlan Mud and/or Badab Black which will greatly enhance the looks of them. In addition you can also use some of the other washes, depending on the colors you use. They're all a very nice thing to have. ;)

  • tomb kings are the easiest army to paint so it does not surprise me if they are done at 2 weeks....

  • I have Devlan mud and I use for my Lizardmen and Tau. And it works!

  • i really need help with wich army I am going to collect I was thinging about collecting bretonnians or lizardmen ,dark elves, tomb kings, empire or skavens so I need help with witch army I sould collect.

  • Look at the pictures of the figs and choose which army looks best.

  • I'm thinking of doing this as a hobbie. Where do you buy the supplies needed to do this?

  • I use the Thraka Green and Baal Red washes on my Marines.

  • this is how i do mine:spray them skull white, gryphone sepia wash, drybrysh of bleached bone den like bows red and stuff

  • that looks dumb

  • Sweet, 14 days is very fast! Good work Tim!

  • i really want to start a fantasy army , but i cant decide between high elves or tomb kings . can someone plz tell me the pros and cons of each army .

  • i play high elves, brettonia, and wood elves

high elves are fragile but elite, and always strike first, have extra slot choices for making your army.

wood elves, have arrows that "blot out the sun" waywatcher, magic bows/arrows, forrest spirits add durability to the army, very fast, still fragile generally... awesome

brettonia is full of knights, what more can i say?!?! lol if your charges break the enemy you win, very hit or miss army, but resilient none the less

  • forget both

    play the empire

  • look High elves and tomb kings are very similar. They are both light aromoured heavy range and magic. They both also rely on their more hard hitting special units. high elves do not have many good or many rare choices tomb kings are the same but their rare choices are accutuly awesome but they do have every few. Their lords and hero's are almost the same as far as game play and rules are conserned they are both light armour and hard hitting but high elves get the dragons so just go with whatever

  • is this guy serious!?!

i just bought 2 battalions of tomb kings a tomb king and a blister of litch priests yesterday! *shudder* there's no way of describing how perfect this is! *omg*

  • brings things to life aye...like 30 times lol

  • Devlan mud. mmfff.. the greatest invention<3

  • hes right hawk turquoise is the best i used for mt tau, dwarfs and lizardmen

  • im doing an imperial fists army and pretty much doing the same thing (execpt the yellow instead of white)

  • you guys should sell those epic shirts.

  • just spray all white-> paint everything brown-> all bones bleached bone-> go on for details-.-'' don't need no ''magic paint in a can''

  • Dipping is faster and cheaper.

  • idg it wat those the wash do

  • its just a thing that makes painting easier and gives better results

(washes go into cracks or little details of a modeland makes it darker giving it a little bit of a more realistic look 2 the model wen its done)

  • do you have to drie brush with bletched bone .

  • the army looks great

  • what colour did you use on the base and how did you base them all?

  • Great video, and the advice on Devlan Mud is spot-on. A bit of a warning though: don't apply it too heavily. It will spill out of the recesses and stain the rest of the miniature. Several drops are all you need to get in the crevasses of a whole Skeleton.

Also, Shining Gold and Hawk Turquoise have been done to death (pun intended) for TK. Ah well, great video though. 5 stars for you, MWG.

  • fink i will begin whit tomb kings or lizerdmen when i am done whit my other armys

  • lizardmen r fun 2 play

  • wow!!! this is going to help me with painting my tyranids and lizardmen. I'm probably gonna buy some devlan mud wash this week and some skinks to paint.

    You made my day MWG!!!!!!

  • im make a tau army so that might be kinda good

  • would this be a cool paint sceme for necrons, because i am thinking of painting my crons this way.

  • OMG, you sound like the schamwow guy, AND YOU CAN DO THIS TOO< AND WE HAVE IT ALL

  • man im about to do that with all of my armys

  • speed painting wow!!!

  • Infomercial Tim

  • that delvan mud wash is awesome. i bought it and put it over some of my guardsmen which then turned to all of them. it is fantastic. thanks miniwargaming and thanks fireman tim.

  • hawk terways ( i dont know how to prenouns it) is the nice blue color that u put on the shields.

  • i agree and its spelled turquiose im pretty sure

  • Fireman Tim is by far the most Canadian of the MWG crew.

  • instead of fire man tim doing it u should had Billy Mays doing it..... jk

  • i dont like speed painting.. i just go with 1mini every 2days

  • aparently that colour rocks

  • 14 days but...um how many hours a day? These are great! Wow!

  • Experiment with them

  • When I say 14 days, it was about 2-3 hours a day for 14 days. 9pm to Midnight.

  • normaly I sleep at that time lolz

  • nice done with the speed painting

  • lol sorry but u sound like some one at gw trying to sell u some paints and minis lol

  • LOL LOL X 1000000000000

  • thats cuz skeletons r the easiest models to paint in all of miniature painting...

  • Nope necrons all you need is silver krylon!!

  • you are a fething god of seed painting

  • Don't say fething.

    Just no.

  • What's with the infomercial voice?

  • I know. I am such a tool. LOL

  • lol i paint 1mini a day...

  • i always thought of doing tomb kings maybe after i finish my lizardmen

    cool paint job

  • no offence but it kinda looks kinda sloply

  • I love tht stuff

  • the colour is called devlin mud?

  • he's saying it's some wash, but I've never heard of it either : /

  • he was is a waterlike substance that seeps into the recesses

  • plz make more of these vids but with 40k (i would like eldar)

  • my fave dudes of miniwargaming are fireman tim, dave and mat

  • I could not agree more it is really good for clan pestalance and nurgle great vid man

  • what does the poison rule means? I found it in the 5th edition and it says like poison (4+) or something. PLz answer!

  • too bad gw paint sucks

  • lololololol

  • I love canadians ay.

  • eh?

  • TIM UR KOOOL

  • question, im a first time painter painting my own space marine army and ive never really used wash before, i was wondering do u apply that after you do your base coat or after ur done painting your model? i never really understood the right say to use wash.

  • fuzzytank222, washes are usually applied after painting the model. The ink wash will find in the tiny cracks for detals. My tau's kroot mercs were awesome. The base was skull white, I drybrushed graveyard earth over the entire model except the hair/spines and abdomen. I made the spines chaos black and added Dwarf flesh for the tips. I drybrushed the abdomen fortress grey and washed it with the above mud. Very awesome model. Try something similar with ur marines. I prefer the Dark Angels colors

  • ooooh ok thanks for the info, got any tips for painting white scars?thats the chapter i chose to be.

  • Tim is Canadian, MWG is based in Ontario lol, I'm a hop skip and a jump away from head quarters.

  • ive been using devlan mud since it came out for my tyrnids and i do agree it is like miracle paint in pot(not can XD)

  • awsome...my next army shall be tomb kings

  • Can you do one on speed painting space marines???

  • Atm im doing fantasy Dwarfs..

Each Dwarf takes me about 1 hour and a half to pain! Its gonna take forever for me to paint lyk Most of em :(

  • Awesome, I bought Tomb Kings just with the same reason, the mummy xD

  • Devlan Mud, and the Black . Some of the best things GW ever made.

  • <3 Fireman Tim!

  • omg i have imps for like 1 year and they r stell not painted

    lol XD *_*

  • yeah..i love those washes

  • i feel like im watching an infomercial.

  • Tell me about it. LOL

  • 14 DAYS!

  • Canada, god bless maple syrup and such, lol

  • Speed painting really lends itselfs to TK and VC.

  • lol dwarves at the end

  • HI THARE all that and the magic that hods them to geter GLOW IN THE DAREK paint cool spshel a FXs WKJR

  • ugh they have turned into such a company it is obnoxious. Every video they are trying to sell you something and its fucking obvious

go back to they way you were miniwargaming.

  • they are kind of a store you know...

  • um there a store... also its not subliminal advertiseing

  • paint the fabric blood red

  • i agree the washes are great for a quick and awesome looking shadow. i like them and use them a lot. 14 days? that's impressive for an army looking like that. nice job

  • if i ever start a fanatic army it will be vampire counts but i will use devlan mud

  • its crystal meth in a can!!! its crystal meth in a can!!!! Power thirst is Crystal meth!!!! but really its really good i used on a sm army to paint them 3 colors in 4 hours then looked nearly as good as a army a guy spent like 5 weeks on

  • devlan mud really is amazing, man this inspired me i think i wanna do a tomb kings battalion asap .

  • My first SM army was about 2000 points, and I managed to speed paint them all in a single day

  • Do they look good? I mean anyone can speed paint a 2000 pt Space Marine army, but it takes some skill to actually make them look good.

  • they look as good as 6 minutes can accomplish

  • Mud wash is the way forward used it to help speed paint my Dwarfs.

  • u sound like Billy Mayes

  • thats what i was thinking a canadian version of billy mayes lol.

  • Yep, but at least he doesn't holler like Billy Mayes...

  • With Mighty devlan mud you can to just a bout anything

  • add blood red for fabric

  • lol, you can tell that fireman tim is canadian cuz he says "eh" at like 3:50

  • my god dude hes not canadian just because he says "eh" im from michigan and i say it a lot

  • the store is in canada genius

  • dude i know i just hate when ppl think someone is canadian just because they say "eh"

  • but they ARE canadian

  • Everyone has made a comment about his accent. Plus he actually IS from Canada, which i already knew. I was just pointing it out.
