  • I am not LDS, but I will point out that the LDS won't admit that the BoM has plagiarisms from the Bible. They will say that the similarities are based on authenticity. You should also SHOW the parts that are word for word plagiarisms, cause the argument can be made that you're all talk no evidence. Then show the same for the other works.

  • @ChristopherLaRock i could'nt agree with you more brother.i've been stressing this very same statement to mormons for a long time.unfortunately to no effect. they rather follow their church than the word of GOD. GOD bless you brother stay strong.

  • @leroysmedley speaking of grammar, I couldn't read the bulk of your post because of the sheer amount of spelling and grammatical errors. Y'mind cleaning that up so that I can actually respond? if you need a spell-checker, both Mozilla Firefox and Opera have it built in.

  • The world is full of those with a narrow view. Keep it up Christopher, The world needs more proctologists.

  • Great video Christopher however, I can shorten the argument and make it even more simple =)

I implore mormons to look at ARCHEOLOGICAL EVIDENCE, look at DNA evidence - through the study of DNA mormonism has been debunked!

The foundation of mormonism lies in the fairy tales of their tall tales from joseph smith - they believe that Jews came to America and became American Indians ... enough said.

  • don't all religion debunk their own religions/

  • Mormons history with polygamy and racism, etc., suddenly something's wrong. Pease elaborate where to draw the line?!

  • Your argument that the Book of Mormon, etc. has plagiarized the Bible are technically inaccurate. The Biblical parts in the BofM are quotations of Isaiah, which the BofM peoples had at that time, because Isaiah lived before their time. They had the writings of all the prophets in the Old Testament up until Jeremiah.

Also, it seems Christians are perfectly fine believing that Adam and Eve's children comitted incest, but when they read about the *continued*

  • @leroysmedley What does the BoM give us that's missing from the Bible?

  • @ChristopherLaRock Sweet F.A.

Galatians 1:8-9 "if I or an angel give to you a gospel other than what you've received, let him be accursed!"

    AMEN.

  • @leroysmedley Actually, they make facsimile BoMs. I have one, and I compared it to the one currently being distributed. Many of the changes were doctrinal in nature. 1830: Jesus is called the eternal father. Now: Jesus is called the son of the eternal father.

  • @leroysmedley How do we know if the BOM was translated correctly? I just happen to have a facsimile of the original BOM from 1830. Several passages have been altered and changed since the original BOM. The BOM being used today is different from the one Smith published.

The LDS statement of faith adds the 'as far as it is correctly translated' clause so they can explain away verses that conflict with LDS teachings by simply saying it's mistranslated.

  • I feel sorry for you. I can see it now. You rationalized this idea in your head and thought, "Hey i'm going to share this with other people and maybe I can bring them some sort of liberty and justification" Surely you have better things to do, than rip on a religion that only wants to make it's members better people. Regardless if it were true or false, The LDS members for the most part are good wholesome people who are trying to make a good difference. I know you struggle, but dont give up.

  • @DLarry888 But none of that matters if they're following false prophets, reading false scriptures, believing a false Gospel, and working toward becoming gods.

  • don't forget Joseph Smith's translated version of the kjv. why don't Mormons use this version if the bible is soooo corrupt?

  • @theembracedofgod The LDS Church doesn't hold the copyrights to Joseph Smith's translation. Emma Smith took the copyright with her when she left to form the Reformed LDS Church.

  • Mormons are good cos when they door knock they are told to ingratiate themselves to you, so they ask if they can help with anything and i usually say , yep, my dishes, or put on a movie like Zeitgeist or something and ask them what they think, lol it's a nice pastime, Jw's are good too. much entertainment

  • Unfortunately they will be able to counter your argument by saying it is their prophet who has been given the power to show us the errors in the Bible (i.e. where it disagrees with Mormonism) thus opening the door for trusting them to reveal all truth to us. It is a tangled web to be sure, and one that only Jesus and His spirit will be able to free them from.

  • VERY WELL SAID!!! LOVED IT

  • Mark Twain described it as 'chloriform in print'.

  • You don't get it. It'a bit like the Muslems do. The Bible is corrupted, except for the parts quoted by the Mormons. Get it?

  • They give out free Bibles along with free BoMs. Why would they give out a book they see as corrupt?

    LOL

  • Years ago, I had Mormon missionaries knock on my door. I had to practically beg the girl to give me a copy of the Book of Mormon for my studies. I was a little suprised at her unwillingness to do so.

  • And yet, the Book of Mormon contains 17,000 quotes, either in part or in whole, from the Bible...

  • The Bible is corrupt and unreliable? I've been Mormon for 41 years and that's the first I've heard that. You should have said as far as it has been translated correclty, which for the most part it has. Just be honest and don't try and mislead people. We do believe that many plain and precious truths have been omitted by man and since they have been omitted how could the BOM quote any of them.

  • Mant parts of the BOM have been taken from the plates of brass from the Nephites which were essentianly the records of the old testament up until 600bc. So if the source is the same why wouldn't the text.

What's next? The book of revelation says not to add to the bible? The bible didn't exist when John wrote it and it wasn't the last book of the bible written. Just means don't add to the book of revelation. Do more research and pray a lot more and I think you'll understand.

  • Will I get the 'burning in the bossom'?

Both archeology and DNA disagree with the BoM account, BTW.

  • Because thousands of biblical manuscripts have been found SINCE the translation of the KJV version of the Bible, many of them older than what was available to the KJV translators. Understanding of biblical Greek and Hebrew has also improved since then (1611), and we are able to find a number of places where the KJV translators made some minor mistakes or had incomplete information. The point is that why would the BOM people produce an identically worded translation complete with the KJV errors?

  • @crackvenom Exact quotes from the King James Bible, translational errors and all, were on the gold plates?

  • The Mormon missionaries I spoke to said that the Bible was corrupted, and thus the BoM was needed to 'correct' it.

  • dont forget dude joe smith made a corrected version of the bible for them to lol

  • Oddly enough, Pearl of Great Price has 2 contridictory revisions of Genesis.

  • That is true. I was mormon for the first 18 years of my life and ive heard several times that the bile is corrupt. So only THEIR revised version is reliable. 41 yr old doesnt know what hes talking about

  • I'm Mormon and I ave to say thank you for your video. It makes one want to find out for themselves. Everyone know you can't take some guys word for it. So, curiosity sets in, as is human nature, and people will want to look at it to find out. Thanks for your vid.

O yes, Joseph learned how to read, write, and study from the bible. When teachings were exactly the same... he wrote from scriptural familiarity and from what he knew. Very few scriptures are the same.

  • There was a time in America when The Bible was the main text book used in schools. Of course, the atheists' have declared it Politically Incorrect and few schools even allow The Bible in school.

  • Ya, that's a shame. I think people need a little more of the bible in there lives. It's to bad that it's a dust collector for most.

  • I am NOT a Mormon, but I think we have to be careful when it comes to so called errors and corruption. If one verse in the Bible was proven 'corrupt' would that invalidate the entire book? Not in my eyes. Thats like saying the whole cake is ruined if someone sticks his finger in the frosting on one small part of one side. I do love your look at it though.

  • Thanks for the comment.

I just think it's odd that the LDS church calls the Bible corrupt, when it's used in their church as much as it is.
