  • hi! thank you very very much for your lessons; i just have one question; why did you say : kamyeta not komyeta ?

  • @ahmadwolfbenz

This Russian phonetics rule is called "Vowel "o" reduction". When "o" appears in unstressed (unaccented) syllable, it is pronounced like "a". This is one of the basic and most important rules in Russian phonetics to memorise. I wonder why the teacher does not cover it. May be, she will do it later. (There exists very few exceptions where this rule does not work. For example, some foreign borrowing such as "какао", "радио". Here "o" is always "o").

  • @TheTushkan ok; thanx; just one more thing; tell me what the unstressed (unaccented) syllable are ? ; so; when the "O" comes after or before them we say it "a" ?

  • @ahmadwolfbenz The part of a word that you pronounce with strength, where you make accent is accented (stressed) syllable, and vice versa."МА-ма" (the first syllable is stressed), "ко-МЕ-та" (the second one), etc. Every time the "o" is in this strong, accented position, it is "o". Otherwise (exept few exceptions I mentioned below) it becomes "a". It does not matter if the "o" comes after or before the accented syllable. You will certainly see more examples later.

  • Fantastic!!! just come across these free Russian langauge lessons " Russian World Lesson", just been watching and listening to lesson 1, just like being back in the classroom. I have been learning the Russian langauge now for 2 years almost, and still class myself as a beginner, i have been learning at a specialist langauge college here in the UK.This new term i have been told is not going to be as last term there was only a few students wanting to learn the Russian langauge. Big Thanks from UK.

  • Lol, your Texas accent is funny. Great show :-)

  • I'm not certain why more are not viewing and praising these Russian language videos. Is it because they have a great teacher, are a full half-hour in length, and are thorough in their coverage? Could it be because it costs nothing? This is a fantastic provision, for which I am very grateful. I hope to see many more lessons. The one thing I'd love to see is slightly better sound quality, especially on a couple of the muffled lessons.

  • @KuznVinny I enjoy these free lessons immensely. I am also taking SKYPE Russian lessons with Alla. This gives me hands on experiences. So between Vera, and Alla Shubrina I have two excellent on-line teachers. If any beginning Russian students want to practice beginning Russian with me on SKYPE, Just contact me through my channel.

  • All I can say is that Dallas is very fortunate to have such a good teacher.

  • уникальный

  • How would you write "unique" in russian?im getting a tattoo, thank you
