  • Thanks for sharing. Good picking.

  • @banjobubby it's in Gm. Only change is the second string tuned down 1/2 step to Bb. DGBbDg

  • . . . this is great - superior ! Please check my videos with Bill Monroe, Kenny Baker and Josh Graves in Europe. Cheers from the other side of the ocean.

  • hey bud what tuning are you playing in?

  • thats crazy man :D

  • .... excellent, and easy to listen to Wow! five stars man.

  • hell yeah!

  • I think that is the best interpretation I have EVER heard of the 3rd part. And I have heard many versions in 30 years!

  • Dude, I just listened to this again and wanted to tell you how excellent your version sounds - especially the G minor. Thanks man!

  • This is fantastic!

  • awesome! -love that song, good rendition

  • !!!

    wow this is really good!

  • beautiful!

  • dude this is sick. ive been tryin to learn this for 5 months. what are the individual string tunings?

  • I think the only differece is that the B string is tuned to a Bb, making it a G Minor instead of standard G.

    Hope that helps, :).

  • Hey nice version of the song. I posted mine.

  • I'd just about given up on the banjo. All of the most popular videos and songs have banjo parts that, to me, seem random and amelodic. Your videos have me interested in playing because I didn't know there were songs like this for banjo. It sounds so beautiful, thank you. Now, to get the banjo out of the basement...

  • Excellent execution. One of my favorite bluegrass tunes, for sure. Thanks for the great work, man.

  • Insane playing bro. Let's do some jamming. Check out the version of Red Haired Boy into Salt Creek I have online. I am working on a guitar arrangement of Jerusalem Ridge right now. I love your G minor sound. So haunting. Classic. Email back to thirdsone3 @ yahoo

    Paul

  • Great job man, would you happen to have the sheet music or the tabs to this song? It'd be great to get them if you have them. Thanks.

  • delightful!

  • Good arrangement. I enjoyed this one.

  • Thanks for the pleasure Jim :)

  • That is just brilliant playing. Pretty challenging?

    More like, almost impossible.

  • Challenging--but not impossible (my club mitts worked their way around the tune, didn't they?)

Again, Butch Robins and Bob Black blazed the trail for picking Monroe tunes and my arrangement--including dropping the banjo into Gminor tuning--comes from hanging around Butch. I'm just trying to capture the soul of Monroe (since I'm also a mandolinist) while using Butch as inspiration.

  • Very nice Butch-inspired arrangement, expecially the third part.
