. . . this is great - superior ! Please check my videos with Bill Monroe, Kenny Baker and Josh Graves in Europe. Cheers from the other side of the ocean.
I'd just about given up on the banjo. All of the most popular videos and songs have banjo parts that, to me, seem random and amelodic. Your videos have me interested in playing because I didn't know there were songs like this for banjo. It sounds so beautiful, thank you. Now, to get the banjo out of the basement...
Insane playing bro. Let's do some jamming. Check out the version of Red Haired Boy into Salt Creek I have online. I am working on a guitar arrangement of Jerusalem Ridge right now. I love your G minor sound. So haunting. Classic. Email back to thirdsone3 @ yahoo
Challenging--but not impossible (my club mitts worked their way around the tune, didn't they?)
Again, Butch Robins and Bob Black blazed the trail for picking Monroe tunes and my arrangement--including dropping the banjo into Gminor tuning--comes from hanging around Butch. I'm just trying to capture the soul of Monroe (since I'm also a mandolinist) while using Butch as inspiration.
Thanks for sharing. Good picking.

@banjobubby it's in Gm. Only change is the second string tuned down 1/2 step to Bb. DGBbDg

dude this is sick. ive been tryin to learn this for 5 months. what are the individual string tunings?
ultfishrman 4 years ago
I think the only differece is that the B string is tuned to a Bb, making it a G Minor instead of standard G.
Hope that helps, :).

Great job man, would you happen to have the sheet music or the tabs to this song? It'd be great to get them if you have them. Thanks.

Very nice Butch-inspired arrangement, expecially the third part.
