fiat or gold/silver, I don't care. There are three things that have to happen for sure. (1) government must run the financial system again & forever. (2) Fractional Reserve Banking must be outlawed. (3) Governments borrowing privilege must be revoked, NO MORE BORROWING, PERIOD!
Ron Paul is very courageous, but his strength is the ideas. It's not Ron Paul's ideas, liberalism exists with or without him, he is just so eloquent at explaining them.
I wish he ran in Canada. I think I will write him in (if I can) when voting in Canada.
It's so sad that someone as intelligent and well-meaning as Ron Paul is not taken seriously by the general public. It's true that he does not have the money to back up his campaigns but why isn't the Republican party promoting him?
I bet he'll make a fantastic President given the fact that he's got the education, experience and the common sense that we so desperately want to see in a President.
Iv'e changed my party to republican and will be voting on feb.5th for Ron Paul! And this is the first time I will have ever voted.. I'm not alone either!! So stick that in your ASS TAMARLANE!!!
Our economy operates like someone who has maxed out all their cards, lines of credit and works overtime to pay off the bills. The problem is the overtime puts him into a higher tax bracket and he loses 40% of his overtime hours value because of taxes. Is that a sane household? This person whos maxed out has ALSO borrowed all the savings from his mom, dad and in laws savings? Not only is he broke but his elders arent yet aware that they are too.
Yes, you're right. All those crooked sons of bitches in Washington that people complain about are the same bums they voted for in the first place, although Diebold is now making that less necessary for these self-serving Washington pigs.

Diebold doesn't really worry me much. I think it will be conducted honestly and above board as far as the machines are concerned. I like the old scanners better, with a hard copy audit trail. But the real problem with voting is the corruption with the voters themselves.
Voting more than one, dead people and cats voting, and paid voters. Mostly democrats.
At this point I think the final 4 will be probably be Clinton, Obama, Giuliani, and Romney.
It is because of their money, the media, and the general perceptions, right or wrong, of the American people, most of whom don't waste their time on the internet, on Youtube.
"It is because of their money, the media, and the general perceptions, right or wrong, of the American people, most of whom don't waste their time on the internet, on Youtube."
Agreed, but Dr. Paul's fundraising is outstripping many of theirs, and he is rising CONSISTENTLY even in the BIASED polls.
I think you have seriously underestimated both the strength of his campaign and the level of disgust with politics as usual. Also, for the mass of Americans you mention, it's just another election cycle. For RP supporters, it means the life or death of the Constitution and the Republic. They will turn out come hurricanes or heatwaves.
We've got ALOT of work to do. It is simply disgusting how uneducated Americans are about basic economic principles. I am extraordinarily depressed after watching tonight's "debate." bah
Well, it's disgusting, but it's a disgusting strategy of the "powers that be" to make it that way.
And let us not forget that the most complex (workable) economic theory can be negated with a simple decision of (the shareholders of) the unconstitutional Federal Reserve.
WOW, Ron Paul seemed like a guy with a clear line of thinking, although I don't agree with all the stuff he supports, the fact that dollar is tanking does lead certain level of credence to his argument.
We (canada) were noted as less than allies, refusing to go to Iraq to slay civilians. We were also "black listed" from any "rebuilding bids". So be it we are made of peace, not slaughter for oil. The best decision Jean Chretian our former prime minister ever made!
Right now I am working for Duncan Hunter here in So. Cal.
Have you ever looked at Hunter?
Like Paul, he will be underfunded because there are no BIG special interest groups to contribute to his campaign.
He is a straight up dude though, and has some experience in congress, and has some very practical real ideas to implement as soon as he takes office, unlike Paul.
My comments are being suppressed here, so I will go away.
If you think we need to go back to the gold standard, which was eliminated over 70 years ago. Fine. (How did we ever survive these last 70 years without it/)
If you think you can eliminate social security, and medicare, and all the social programs your tax dollars support, after being laundered by the government, then I think you are a young innocent ideologue with much to learn.
You've got to be kidding. Do you have the faintest idea what you're talking about?
Do you know how much revenue is obtained from income tax? Do you know how much the US overseas empire and foreign policy costs to maintain? Dept of Homeland Security? etc etc
He has given solutions. Your assertion that eliminating the IRS would sink this country is wrong. The IRS accounts for approx. 1/3 of the total income for the U.S. Dr. Paul has spoken about alternative sources of income such as luxury taxes and tariffs that would cover what was lost from the income tax. All told, eliminating the income tax would put more money in the hands of the poor and middle class to spend on essentials and on luxury items. This would serve to bolster an economy.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Mr. Alaskaman
Do you think Dr. Paul could get congress and the American people together to agree to eliminate the IRS. Discontinue Social Security and Medicare. AND switch over to a gold standard (if we could get our hands on that much gold)
OR
Do you think Dr Paul is a nice guy with his head up his ass?
1. If he is elected, that means that the American already agreed to eliminate the IRS. It is the central plank of his entire platform.

Ever since his ever increasing fundraising, people in congress are starting to notice him significantly more. If people agree with his policies enough to get him President, Congress can't ignore the will of the people, or they simply aren't going to represent the people's choice.
I should save you some time here. I am working for Duncan Hunter's campaign for President, and when that fails I will probably vote for Romney for President. If I even vote this time.
Well I tried my hardest, but I wish you luck on your campaign. But I hope you consider Ron Paul as at least a viable contender and recognize that not all of his supporters are nuts.

You have listed many reasons here why Dr. Paul will/can never make it to the ballot. At least I would think Duncan Hunter might make it to the cabinet of the next president. He would be a valuable addition as an adviser on certain topics.
Just curious. If Dr. Paul were successful in switching us over to the gold standard, what would he use to buy the gold? Fiat money?
Oh, I get it. You completely avoid the question by asking another one that has no connection to the one that I asked you in the first place.
You can make a response to the actual question I asked you, or I can do as you do, and answer your question with one bearing no relation to the subject you raised.

This is ridiculous! Not your comment, but the viewpoint which you correctly mentioned.
Yes, some people want to vote for a winner. But this neglects the reality that someone can only become a winer if you vote for them.
And why vote for a "winner" if they are going to win, anyway? Why not vote for the person you WANT to win?
AmericanPatriot2008 4 years ago
I am supporting Ron Paul come hell or high water (but then I suppose that was quite obvious from my video uploads)!
If Ron Paul loses, my vote for him will have achieved several things:
It will have assisted the spread of the message that Dr. Paul expounds.
It will encourage others of honor and integrity to come forward.
It will help forment a legacy for the voice of liberty (the genie will be out of the bottle, so to speak).
AmericanPatriot2008 4 years ago
And lastly, my vote will have honored a politician who has:
NEVER voted to increase or create taxes of any kind.
NEVER taken a government-sponsored junket.
AmericanPatriot2008 4 years ago
continued:
NEVER sold out to special interest groups, PAC's, or lobbyists (he throws them out of his office).
ALWAYS voted to limit the power of Federal government.
NEVER voted for an unbalanced budget.
NEVER voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
NEVER voted to raise congressional pay.
Now, all of this, IMO, represents a "politican" that deserves to be HONORED!
