What happend to Regent Park! The Breakdance Theatre, La Rotunda, Casanova's, Hagerman's, etc.Frakenstein. Commercial Hip-Hop is bullshit. If you talking bout Hip-Hop you have to know the Canadian underground. The documentary was nice but basic.
Proper documentary. I recall going dragging my ass down to the concert hall and jamming with the walls sweating!! those were the days. I would have liked to see some interviews by Sol Guy and even Russell Peters. Some heads like Russell Peters used to get 88.1 by taking the rogers cable signal and taping the wire up to the antenna. I would have loved to see a piece on Baby Blue Soundcrew as well ;) Great work. it's a story that needs to be told.
this documentary is only half decent because it's missing a lot of the history Flemindon Park contributed. This video makes us look like all we have done is add violence.
@thejayzter24 Buddy, it said "documenting the history of hip hop in Toronto" And why, these cats in this video ain't Canadian enough for you? These niggas brought hiphop to Canada. Class is just as much of a new cat as K-os is, know your roots son.
@1RVBernal Buddy, my comment did not say anything to directly disrespect these artists. I just merely stated my opinion that if they made a list of MCs in all of Canada, instead of shining the spot light in Toronto all the damn time, Classified would top it.
I just feel he doesnt get enough love is all. And you said K-os is as new as Class? You do know Classified has been doing this longer than half of these artists right, while K-os broke into the mainstream in 2000s. Know your facts son.
I don't know who this Bobby Singh Brown guy is, but CBC should hire him to do ALL their programming...that was the most entertaining show they've had on their channel in a long time.
Michie Mee - dropping bombs ! so nice to see her after all these years. Last time I saw her was around 1987 and I was trying to pick her up when she visited Club Zinc in Hull. Thats how us bboys roll !!!
Nice -but next time a gathering for Canadian Hiphop comes together they got to give us more warning. Got to have some of us original Canadian Bboys from 1982 in the house. Most of us were holding it down before the MC's got rolling. Canadian Floor Masters foreva baby -its our 28th anniversary celebrating bboying in Canada. Wish I could of been there ! I'm still in the Cyphers baby -age 52 -don't stop the body rock !
Also, notice how they dance around the fact that the canadian music industry is white washed and racist and then conclude it must be some unknown factor that kept record labels from signing canadian hiphop talent... typical cbc.
That was pretty fresh. As an American DJ and lover of hip hop music/culture, I have always had the utmost respect for Canadian Hip Hop. I believe the Canadian scene keeps the fundamentals of the culture in higher regard than us Americans. Good Documentary. I would def like to see another documentary focusing on rappers from other canadian cities such as Vancity, MTL, Ottawa, Calgary, plus the big DJ culture. You guys spawned A-Trak, who at the age of 15 won a DMC battle. Big ups!!
It was aight........ but.......Why is it dat the only light FLEMO ( Flemingdon Park ) got in this documentary was a shooting.a death Yo y'all need to speak up Flemo Park was all over that hip hop ,reggae, dance music, we did alot fo hiphop but nice voice over and good editing but that's expected cbc to me theres a whole chunk missing .....yo..... the cover up wont last long brrraaah tatatatata
toronto hip hop is nothin' like tha states and never has been! shout out to all tha canadian hip hop artist out there on tha grind underground and mainstream! cheeyeah!

Canadian hip hop? or Toronto Hip hop?

I didn't watch all of this but it seems there's a real lack of street mentions.
Where is mention of G.C.P, or at least Toba chung? How'about Point Blank & TNT? How'bout Camo, C4? Mayhem Moriarty? Young Mecca?
This really aint drakes city

which video of michie mee are they always showing when she's mentioned? the one where she's dancing outside n stuff
and yeah i would have liked to see shad being mentoined with drake and k'naan since he's really bringing much reputation to canadian hip hop!

Classified doesn't bring enough meaning behind his rhymes. It's really classy to make a song about how classy you are.
Shad is definitely deserving of being mentioned in this video.
Kardinal gave me chills at the end
