The awesome picture of Ace in his own studio in the beginning inspired me as a 11 year old kid to also want to have an own studio.Now i'm 43 and i HAVE my own studio-almost. I have 17 stringed instruments(guitars,bass,synthguitar etc.)piano,keyboards,drummachines.Sound and recording equipment (Zoom R-16 (new stuff) and 3 reel-to reel tape machines (old stuff) effects and more and more.I write songs as well mostly instrumental melodies.My wife says to me to upload on youtube ...
Seeing douche bag Gene on that bad reality show has rekindled my interest in the band. When I was a kid, everyone's favorite members were Ace and Peter. Years later, I realize that Ace wasn't that good of a gtr player, but nevertheless, he is such a cool person. I love him in interviews. Drink and do drugs for a few years,get clean for a year,then go back to the drink and drugs then get clean etc...... @Chrisdrumz, I've listened to Anomaly and it is a GOOD album. In fact, it's a kick-ass rock n' roll record and most people I know agree. And to say Ace has done nothing of real worth is plain stupid. I guess you'd prefer him to market KISS coffins like Gene Simmons!
Kiss became meaningless after '79 but they left us with a lot of classics. I saw them on the Animalize tour in the 80's playing to 5,000 fans...I saw them again in '96 playing to over 20,000 fans. Two completely different shows and yes, the org line up was way better. I've always felt like the new KISS and particularly the re-recordings of those classic tunes are like your favorite drink watered down. You recognize the taste but it just doesn't have the same bite. =P
I love Ace but I don't agree. I read Kiss and Make-Up probably ten times and Gene Simmons did give Ace credit for the logo and said that Ace was a huge pain in the ass, lazy at times but a very bright guy who could have done more if he hadn't given so much of his life over to drugs and alcohol.
It may have included stories that put Ace in a negative light but they were presented as fact not some malicious baseless attack.
I'm on Ace's side to a point but I know Gene has never drank or used drugs and I know from experience how much grief that can cause for someone who lives a clean life away from drugs and alcohol.

I could speachify about the goings on in Kiss; but, I won't. What I will say is that Ace is one of those rare talents that I really do have to appreciate. He's proof that you don't have to be corporate college trained to be better than everyone else on the planet at something. He can't read or write music; but, the guy plays guitar like he invented it and has inspired two generations of artists. Ace has talent. Gene is good at using people to make money.

Like I said, I have a nostalgic love of Ace from when I was a little kid - I was 7 in 77, but compared to other guitar players who are considered "greats" Ace ain't in the same ballpark. I'm not even talking about guys like Van Halen. Chances are, if you walk into any guitar store in the US, half the guys you'll hear are about as good as Ace. But, I think Eric Carr would be proud of his involvment with KISS and how they have carried on with great success and the great drummer they have that can actually play his songs.. He might be a bit jealous that he can't hit the stage with them again though.

The reunion was the Nostalgia Tour, the p.c. was the paul and gene circus show it was a bad album and we are one is a lie, and the farewell was a disrespect to Ace, Peter cause that band called Kiss...that band continued...
so Ace notioned for the platform boots, and did all four make-ups.

Drink and do drugs for a few years,get clean for a year,then go back to the drink and drugs then get clean etc...... I wish he was in KISS still,but aside from his 78 solo album,what has he done thats so great? He needed KISS a lot more than they needed him apprently.

Kiss became meaningless after '79 but they left us with a lot of classics. I saw them on the Animalize tour in the 80's playing to 5,000 fans...I saw them again in '96 playing to over 20,000 fans. Two completely different shows and yes, the org line up was way better. I've always felt like the new KISS and particularly the re-recordings of those classic tunes are like your favorite drink watered down. You recognize the taste but it just doesn't have the same bite. =P

I love Ace but I don't agree. I read Kiss and Make-Up probably ten times and Gene Simmons did give Ace credit for the logo and said that Ace was a huge pain in the ass, lazy at times but a very bright guy who could have done more if he hadn't given so much of his life over to drugs and alcohol.
It may have included stories that put Ace in a negative light but they were presented as fact not some malicious baseless attack.

That was the first time Ace played "Shock me" which included his solo. That's when rock was performed by real musicians.
You have to appreciate in 75 Ace playing his rif in "Let me go and rock-n-roll"

I could speachify about the goings on in Kiss; but, I won't. What I will say is that Ace is one of those rare talents that I really do have to appreciate. He's proof that you don't have to be corporate college trained to be better than everyone else on the planet at something. He can't read or write music; but, the guy plays guitar like he invented it and has inspired two generations of artists. Ace has talent. Gene is good at using people to make money.

Legend has it, Ace created makeup so he could get Gene to cover that ass of a face. He also lobbied for the platform boots, and always bickered at Gene for ne'er supporting his tits (whom selfish like Gene, almost ceded and became two members themselves), simply put, Genes tits started taking small percentages of Peter and Aces royalties. Thats why they left. Ace was 1970's KISS.

In the early 70s these 4 guys were known as Kiss. it wasnt Bill, Harold, Cliff, Paul, and Gene. these four names are the ones that appear on Alive 1, Alive 2, Destroyer, rock and roll over etc. and from those albums and those days Kiss was able to knee jerk their almost crippled up asses through 1995 when once again it became Gene, Paul, Peter and Ace.

The convention tour was cancelled in Houston because of low ticket sales.The 4 originals saved KISS in 96 and YES it is because of the 4 originals that Gene and Paul are able to play to so many people now. KISS is not KISS anymore. It's Gene,Paul and 2 guys wearing 2 other guys makeup.

I love Ace, but without Gene and Paul, you would have never heard of Ace Frehley! He would be a great guitarist nobody. Paul and Ace were the driving force behind the music. Gene and Paul had the devotion and smarts to make the band successful. The original line-up collectively kicked ass!!! Enough of the individual bashing already. They all had their good qualities!

When was this speech made. In recent interviews Ace tries to be polite and not say negative things which shows that he is a MAN, unlike Gene who is always putting others down.
