@rct126 Yes. However, if you look at some of my videos showing the polar bears in the spring, summer, and autumn, they looked right at home, then, too.
Usually we have two or three 6 to 8 inch snowfalls per year totalling I think around 20 inches/yr.
The storms this year were record breaking in all ways. We now have had more than 40 inches of snow this year, and the last two snow storms came just a few days apart!
There are huge mounds of snow everywhere throughout the city which look like they will never melt. And the side streets are just now being somewhat cleared.
Your comment makes me laugh. I hated the Zoo Balloon so much when it first appeared in the sky over the Zoo. Not only was it an eyesore, especially driving along Kelly Drive, but, to me it was a symbol that the Zoo was evolving into an amusement park.
I guess I've gotten used to it now. But, I still wouldn't mind if it would disappear under a huge mound of snow, and never reappear.
Well the idea of it is just terrible. You could barly see the animals from up there, isn't that what it was made for? The old one looked better with all the animals on it and it also advertised better. This has a small Phillidelphia Zoo symbol on it.
I liked the old one with the image of the giraffe on it slightly better, too. But the tiger stripes do stand out more and probably won't fade as quickly.
As you said, you can only see a few of the animals, but you do get a good view of the City.
I agree with that 100%. I go to the Zoo to observe the animals, and for no other reason.
That's why every so often I rant and rave about anything that distracts zoo visitors from doing that, whether it's rides, or classes that keep visitors inside rooms instead of out looking at the animals, or ...
Okay, I will stop for now. But there are quite a few other things, too, that I could add to the list!
The polar bear looked right at home though.

Ya but if you want to see the city then drive around. I don't think you go to the zoo to see the city do you?
