as much as a really like john bonham i mean his solos are great but i feel as if buddy rich's solos are just better there more intricate but idk i like rock and roll but when it comes to drum solos jazz is the way to go
@thematt961 Totaly agree with you dude, but you can see where John gets his influence from....could you imagine a world without Buddy Rich's hyper fast rolls and he uses his whole kit evenly, not to heavy on the bass drum so as not to drown out the tom's and snare.....love when he plays with his hands....and age only made him a master.....I wish John was alive....Rock music pulls from many sources and blends into it's own unique sound....Blues and Jazz happen to be the Zepps foundation..it works
If you want to see what is by far the best youtube video of Bonham, it's entitled "Led Zeppelin-Moby Dick (Live At Royal Albert Hall 1970)". Just watch it. John Henry Bonham remains the greatest rock drummer that ever lived.
xD yeah yeah, john Bonham for single foot triplets, and Keith Moon for....... uuuhhh, everything else. xD lmao, r.i.p.to both of ya (as well as legend Buddy Rich, their jazz equivalent).
@edogg26 oh come on, we can give up more than that, like the jonas brothers, lady gaga, brittney speirs, hanna montana and kim kardashian, even tho shes not involved in music
@finnersbai Yes of course there are always the ones, on youtube, who must "fuck" people and such, but the only thing I'm doing is giving my opinion. I haven't said he is a bad drummer, I said he is a good one. Maybe you were referring to that, "fuck you, he isn't a good drummer at all!" is that what you're trying to say?
@Grafietstift my apologies, I thought you were subtly trolling. Also If I didn't think he was a good drummer, the only reason i would come onto this page would be to criticize this video or reply to comments which talk about him being awesome- I wouldn't however reply to a comment already criticizing him in the first place, that would be pointless.
@finnersbai Nope I wasn't trolling, and I really mean that I am impressed by his drumskills, and though I never quite liked Led Zeppelin TOO much, I do enjoy listening and watching him drumming. So that says quite something. And no I can understand, I think it's useless to watch a video, and instead of discussing the video just reply to loving messages from others with bad comments.
xD lmao, i think we'd all agree in that jesus could probably sing better than justin bieber....... ......BUT HOW COULD JESUS SING SO GOOD, TOO?! ...... that's where freddie mercury comes in. >:D
@swiftmachine1515 Then I'm waiting for the day when Jesus might need Bieber's help. I don't know, what this dork could give him, but still it would be nice.
@ylegend5 Don't forget Mitch Mitchell (drummer for The Jimi Hendrix experience for those of you who were unaware) He passed away quietly a few years back....Underrated....Truly Amazing!!!!!
@chicchitammuottocifa Hells Yeah!!!! Ginger Baker, again Mitch Mitchell and just for shits and giggles, I'm dropping Neil Pearts name in the mix....hhmmmmm
@SMDforTacos yeah!!!!! Mitch Mitchell...also more now is Danny Carey, the drummer for Tool.....But then again that band blows my mind....good stuff!!!
The best and probably the most influence drummer off all time. Sorry, Roger Taylor, and off course Keith, I love Queen and Who, but i love Zep more...
manbox. thank you and comment. iam not an troll. all i sayed about this bomhan is his basic. see. today: there's is more drumers whom are more anvance of this guy bomhan. thats is all i say.

It's a shame that Led Zeppelin disbanded after the death of Bonham in 1980 but they knew they would never find a "replacement" because it just wasn't possible. Some have come close but will never achive....
All I have to say is that Mr. John Henry Bonham has been and is still being voted the number one drummer of all time. He has won that honor and is still winning that title more than 30 years after his death for a reason. He tops the list of "performers most wanted to be brought back", beating out the likes of Elvis and Freddie Mercury. Even guys like Stewart Copeland, Dave Grohl, Chad Smith, Phil Collins credit him as a major inspiration for them and undeniably one of the best ever.
al, thanks you all for you're coment. i'm know troll. what i'm am trying to say is if you poeple look closley at bohnam hear you'll will see that his cannot campare to the drummers of now. guys like dragon-fourse, joey, and mainly travantula barker
@jgeorgel this was good:)).My friend,if Bonzo didnt always play complex stuff doesn't mean that those guys are better.common...Joey?Travis?what are u?17?!:)).If you want to give an example try Dave Lombardo,Mickey Dee or Scott Travis:).
@jgeorgel i laugh at your fail trolling and your opinion of good drummers. I therefore accept that i am letting you troll me by repsonding to you. But just a side note, Where did any of these much younger drummers learn to play from, and when was the last time thier playing made you feel like you were tripping on acid. (without it)
I have the solution for all the YouTube bashers of musicians/artists that have a video posted (by anyone)... Why don't we make it a rule that you can't bash ANYONE'S performance unless you post one of YOURSELF!!! (wow that would run em off like rats!) If you can't play or sing or dance or hum or mix/blend music, never wrote a song in your life, and you can't even spell, should you judge and debase another's performance's? Oh yeah, this is America and you have that right, wake up and be nice!!!
you all pepole are just a buncha blockheads. this guy this man. bohnma is not so good. see. i bin play all off this stuff when i was a very young boy. why. becuase its is easy to play. simpile, bassic, no skills are how you say? melodics?
@jgeorgel Learn English, and learn drums. You actually haven't been playing this stuff since a young age, so piss off about it. People don't take to it well when you disrespect dead legends, stupid fuck.
@jgeorgel Harsh words and yet he could probably spell those words better than you can... I'd like to see you playing the drums like John Bonham, you've massively insulted a huge range of drummers who are inspired by the likes of John Bonham, Charlie Watts, Buddy Rich and Keith Moon. Hugely insulted.
@evankm1111 Neil Peart is like Terry Bozzio, good playing but too fancy for my liking. John Bonham was a simple drummer yet he moved with the groove whilst still keep the time, great inventor and motivator, truly inspiring.
This guy wasn't Peart or Wekkle but that wouldn't have worked in Zeppelin, he was the perfect guy for the job, a real balance against the loftiness of Page and Plant. They needed grounding and he is the perfect backdrop. I love his down to earth nature it is reflected in his solid no nonsense playing.
@EPI6fingers as good as Alex is, im not comfortable bunching him with Neil Peart, but ya, there are still talented people out there... just few and far between
Ttbjammn hit the nail on the head. Im only 15 but i couldnt agrea more. I have been playing guitar for five years and nothing inspires me more than led zeppelin pink floyd matelica nirvana and any other band from that time era
@Vannsome Bitch please, Led Zeppelin, Metallica and Nirvana are not from the same decade, and have no similarity what so ever, therefore stfu, attention whore.
disturbed4life1997...he dont keep a steady rhythm / beat where he could just work off of so to speak''..a few times during this solo he''ll just stop and try something else...'' sorta like hes thinking ok ill try this now '' to me he was all over the place..esp when he started playing with his hands,,,c-mon..'' horrible!!..like i mentioned b4 i love his playing on ALL LED ZEP SONGS, on stairway excellent right on crisp drumming..loved it... but this solo , bad !! not
@bgj150 ok. this is an amazing solo not because he plays superfast or that everything he plays is super complicated. its great because it doesnt have to be. this solo is musical and rythmic and perhaps most amazingly it tells a story. the name wasnt just thrown in there. its telling the story and conveying the emotions just as melody can. if you want superfast hits look up joey jordisons 9.0 live solo. but relize sometimes, what matters more then what you play, is what you dont.
@disturbed4life1997 ...i respect your opinion. and i totally understand what your saying.. i just cant get into this one specific solo..to me he changes way to much during it.. '' and your 100% right a solo doesnt have to be superfast all the time or technical ...i like more of a grove / rythmic solo that when your watching or listening you just cant stop yourself from moving up and down and getting totally engrossed in it.. and when your done you say '' i wanna start taking lessons''
when i was younger, and i was first getting into music and learning guitar.. i discovered that led zeppelin broke up after the death of their drummer. my first thought was " thats sad, but he was just the drummer, they could have gone on!"
now i realize how fucking stupid i was! RIP the greatest drummer of all fucking time!
people need to leave travis alone. this is a JOHN BONHAM video. If you want to talk about TRAVIS BARKER, go to HIS video. But Travis never speaks of battling anyone or competing against anyone. He just plays for the fuck of it. Like. WTF is with you people. Why is everything competition. Gtfoh with that nonsense. JB is soo freakin' amazing.
@MitsukiSky i dont think travis plays "just plays for the fuck of it." i think he 2 like John has a huge passion for the drums and plays with his heart and soul...not just for the fuck of it. There both Great. But Bohnam just waaaaayy greater.
if one more cunt puts travis barker even remotely in the same league as john bonham, i will shove my boot so far up his ass that bonham will wake up from eternal slumber just to find out what all the screaming is about.
@tylerblue1984 I think the main reason that people think that Travis is so great is because some of the grooves he plays in blink are extremely creative and quite cool, but when if it came down to a drum battle, he wouldn't come close to this.
Some say he had had a hydraulic right leg and his drumsticks were crafted from the shards of Chuck Norris's penis. All we know is he's called John Bonham
@panterz24x Thanks a lot, asshole. Now, whenever I listen to Zeppelin or see a pair of drumsticks, I'm going to have mental images of Chuck Norris' cock stuck in my head. Got to hell, jerk.
@6masked6man6 dude fukin joey jordison!! all he has is a fast double pedal and he simply beats the shit out of his drums with no class no taste, please don't compare him to one of the greatest drummers there ever was and he died so his potential was not fully developed...not trying to bagg on you for your opinion but in mine these two drummers aren't even in the same category
Stratdem, oh dear, kind of missed the point a bit I think, still you dont have to listen and after all its only your loss so who cares what you think!
Stratdem you're such a stain. Name any great drummer that has not in some way been influenced by Bonham and Buddy Rich. Bonham and Rich were so innovative there shit is still strong to this day.
John bonham's solo's are all repititions over and over and over again complete boreing bullshit thats all this solo is and all his solo's are PERIOD! Now i'm going back to listen to real drummers like Alex Vanhalen and Neil Peart.
Indeed!

ragonz2194 4 months ago
@ragonz2194 no, but i mean the movie with the drag racer and his wife apparently, what movie is THAT?
IIISugarShortsIII 4 months ago
@IIISugarShortsIII They were home movies featured in "the song remains the same" and yes it is his wife and son in those clips.
ragonz2194 3 months ago
@ragonz2194 Check out his son Jason. He also is a drummer and has played with Led Zepplin in reunion.

Mr11MUSICMAN 4 months ago 4
people need to leave travis alone. this is a JOHN BONHAM video.
Ugh.

MitsukiSky 4 months ago
@MitsukiSky i dont think travis plays "just plays for the fuck of it." i think he 2 like John has a huge passion for the drums and plays with his heart and soul...not just for the fuck of it. There both Great. But Bohnam just waaaaayy greater.

if one more cunt puts travis barker even remotely in the same league as john bonham, i will shove my boot so far up his ass that bonham will wake up from eternal slumber just to find out what all the screaming is about.
tylerblue1984 4 months ago 2
@tylerblue1984 I think the main reason that people think that Travis is so great is because some of the grooves he plays in blink are extremely creative and quite cool, but when if it came down to a drum battle, he wouldn't come close to this.

Some say he had had a hydraulic right leg and his drumsticks were crafted from the shards of Chuck Norris's penis. All we know is he's called John Bonham
panterz24x 5 months ago 4
@panterz24x Thanks a lot, asshole. Now, whenever I listen to Zeppelin or see a pair of drumsticks, I'm going to have mental images of Chuck Norris' cock stuck in my head. Got to hell, jerk.
LoryCoweryIsSLow 5 months ago
The thing that separates Neil Peart and all these other people from John Bonham is that they are drummers. John Bonham is a percussionist.

Man, seeing his kid play drums made me sad. He was (in my opinion) the greatest drummer that ever lived.
DrLong1982 5 months ago
@DrLong1982 This KID? How old are you, 90?
MrSquazzy 5 months ago
@MrSquazzy No, lol, I ment when it shows John Bonham's kid playing drums and John walkes up and starts playing a bongo.

@DrLong1982 lol i know man. Just wanted to make a funny lol

@PoorRichardSaunders He's saying he has dibs on coming back AS Bonham.

Stratdem, oh dear, kind of missed the point a bit I think, still you dont have to listen and after all its only your loss so who cares what you think!
1974cashman 5 months ago
Stratdem you're such a stain. Name any great drummer that has not in some way been influenced by Bonham and Buddy Rich. Bonham and Rich were so innovative there shit is still strong to this day.

John bonham's solo's are all repititions over and over and over again complete boreing bullshit thats all this solo is and all his solo's are PERIOD! Now i'm going back to listen to real drummers like Alex Vanhalen and Neil Peart.
stratdem 5 months ago
@stratdem i'll give you neil peart but vanhalen?
reeser37 5 months ago
@stratdem
"" i'm going back to listen to real drummers like Alex Vanhalen and Neil Peart.""
You do that.....but make sure you turn your stereo up REAL LOUD...or else you won't ever hear those two 'tappers'.
Pear in particular sounds like he's tapping on a toilet roll. Where is Peart's "OOOMPH"? Peart is waaaaaaaaaaay too tinny and lightweight.
Hip Hop sample BONHAM, not Peart.
