If the economy collapses and there's civil war in America it won't really matter what you do. It wont matter how much canned food you buy if there's rioting in the streets. The only safe place would be in Utah in the north western mountain ridge. Safes place in Americia from natural disasters and it's far away enough from population that the shell shock would be minimal. But I can guarantee, it's no paradise to live in.

Well with the govt prolonging a recovery there is no telling how long this depression will last. Some of my family listen to me and others just laugh. I think roubini's prediction of a W recession is spot on. I been predicting that for the last 6 months. By my estimates well probably be out of the recession between October 09 to february 2010 then we will start seeing inflation. Then we will enter another recession soon after maybe 2010 or 2011.

That's why I stopped paying my condo off early & have been putting the money into precious metals and other physical assets. Only if they choose. You don't have to be rich or a millionaire to be a happy person & love your life. At least in my case. Money is not everything. Sure is nice, but it does not define happiness.
Thats to bad they ended up divorced. But things happen & personally I can not let the failure of my parents dictate my future or my pursue for happiness.

I think we are entering a depression now. The government's bailouts and monetizing the debt has simply stalled the inevitable decline of our economy. The government falsely reports the unemployment numbers, etc. I have read many news articles on the net that indicate the government is manipulating the stock market. I think roubini's prediction of a W recession is spot on. I been predicting that for the last 6 months. By my estimates well probably be out of the recession between October 09 to february 2010 then we will start seeing inflation. Then we will enter another recession soon after maybe 2010 or 2011.
I think it will be like the 80's when we had a double dip, the difference is the 2nd one we will have well be worse than the first I think and both worse than the 80's.

I think we're going to have a bumpy ride till the end of the summer then a sudden decline. That's why I stopped paying my condo off early & have been putting the money into precious metals and other physical assets. The assets should allow me to live on next to no money for an extended period of time. For example my bicycle and my 60mph/80mpg scooter will be my primary forms of transportation. I can fit a couple bags of groceries on my scooter. My car will be reserved for heavy loads.

If my friends/relatives did not listen to warnings and sat on their fat asses, watching TV, both elbows bent in a feeding frenzy, living in an ignorant fantasy world, they don't deserve anything more than a bunch of seeds, a short lecture, and a dose of harsh reality for a decade or two.

I'll say this. A year ago, I did the sheep thing you say above about your friends/relatives.
Now, I have no tv except for the occasional game/movie.
I work out 3 hours a day. I do research on what's to come every night. I feel better than anyone of my friends and family members.

Same here. Getting ready for what's headed our way has forced me to become a better man in almost every area of my life. I got rid of my tv a couple years ago and I'm taking Karate now. I'm a lot more careful with my money too.
