Depends on the mood of the betta. Some are better than others.

JMCraig, these aren't easy to keep - this species is one even experts often fail to keep - very picky, very particular, very expensive and totally unsuitable for keeping with bettas.

@JMCraig You can keep adult shrimps with fishes, but newborn shrimplets will be eaten from time to time.
