Compare the exhaust of this engine with an Amtrak P-42's exhaust. Different engines but yet VERY similar in sound.

not quite so different. they both use the rugged 7FDL-16 prime mover.

The 7FDL-16 goes THAT far back?? I thought they came out when the Dash-8's came out. Interesting.
the FDL-16 was the original GE engine, introduced on the U25B in 1959.
