Loved ones die, people who deserve so much don't get what they should, and you should still believe in fairy tales because of the beauty of it, and you should still get up and strive to be a better person, live a better life and do these things, not to fall into the norm, but strive to do something great with your life. It's kind of cheesy, but I think it's a story that everyone should put to their life and go for a little more.
This song moved me from the very first time, Zac's voice brings peace and creates such a beautiful context ...I love this piece of art as much as I love his talented charisma...
Brilliant, every piece, is like a picasso *piece, can be morphed and formed to fit every angle and situation, no matter who or what the audience is. Brilliant.

Aww, this song is my favourite. It feels like it's about one of those challenges all of us face on a day to day basis, espeically when it comes to older people looking down on us How we sometimes have to prove ourselves before anyone will take what we say seriously. And even if we do fail, at least we tried and people can see that we did our best.
@Tiggeroo007 this song is not about being young or naive or anything its about someone who dreams. . . Its about someone who strives to be the best at making his dream come true . . .
Guys, don't take it so literally! "Small" doesn't have to mean "young, immature". I think it also can mean "inferior, unimportant". So in this sense of the word, sometimes everyone feels small, even grown men.

This song is horrible...I never understood why they worte a song like this. It makes no sense! It's a good lullaby though. I made a cd for my son when he was an infant, and this song was on there...I just don't know why grown men would sing something like this.
@Tiggeroo007 im sorry i have no idea what youre talking about.... have you ever looked into the meaning of the song? not just looking at the lyrics at face value? i think its a perfectly legitimate song for grown men to sing. this song is far from horrible considering all the music that is being made today that are about superficial things.. sorry i do not see your logic on this one
@Kaylamcghee I don't care what you think. I'm entitled to my own opinions, and I have given mine. I'm not going to be some kiss-ass fan and worship three grown men just 'cause they're famous. Yes, I have given thought to the meaning, and in my honest opinion, it strikes me as juvenile. Leave it at that, I'm not arguing further with you. Thanks.
@Kaylamcghee This song might be about the babies and toddlers they saw die in Africa. Hanson took some time to get to know the angels(figure of speach). And then they passed away and became angels. The rest of the song, may reflect the dispair of the situation, and how awful the disease is.

@Tiggeroo007 I'm not one of those fans that think you have to worship all their songs either so not saying there's anything wrong with you disliking this but....
Zac wrote this song in 2001. He was 15-16 at the time - hardly a grown man!
Hanson did have rather mature songs even at a young age, but really, I don't find it surprising that some of them are a bit juvenile.
Just throwing that out there, you are of course still entitled to your own opinion. :)
@delicatedreams Yeah....I just don't like many of the songs off Underneath. They fought so hard to make the album, and it just wasn't as good as I thought it'd be.
Why is everyone saying they look like they are going to cry? It does not look that way at all. It's funny because one person will say it and then it spreads like wildfire...LIKE OMG DID YOU SEE ZAC CRYING DURING BROKEN ANGEL!!!! I have heard several people say this already. Why is it that everyone wants them to cry? They have never cried on stage and I don't think they ever will so get over it people!
To everyone talking about the meaning (form songfacts)
SF: The tune "Broken Angel," can you take us into that one?
Zac: It's a song about the fact that fairy tales aren't necessarily true, that people's dreams don't always flourish.
