Wisconsinfag here. In my opinion Brett Favre always seemed pretty modest and almost a little uncomfortable with his fame. Then recently he had a midlife crisis or something and became the biggest douche ever. It's kind of sad, but who really cares I guess, it's his own legacy that he's tarnishing.
Brett Favre needs to enjoy retirement and stay out of the spotlight for a while, I'm sick of his flip flopping on whether to come back to football or not.
If he wants to be involved in football, he should coach a high school team.
Does anyone else watch TYT sports to A.) Laugh at how epic that intro music is and the ironic contrast of having it overlay some dismal, low rent graphics and B.) to laugh at the relentless hate and vitriol in the comments section directed at Ben, and to see how and when he will react to it?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but he's been pretty quiet since his last retirement right? Most of the rumors about him returning are fueled by ESPN headlines trying to draw readers to their website.
@ItsMeDauntless Correction: It's obviously the correct pronunciation to anyone with a middle school level of education. The only other obvious pronunciation would be (farv-ray).
@ItsMeDauntless Farv is one of the first things that would come to the mind of a good speller. Like I said, the other thing it could look like would be farv-ray.
@AEgamesFtw I don't understand why you think it's so natural that the r should be said before the v when the v clearly comes before the r. That may be how it's pronounced in his name, but I've never seen it like that anywhere else.
It's really not something you see everyday and it's not common knowledge, so the condescending tone isn't needed.
@ItsMeDauntless It's obviously not a name of english origin. I was only saying, a lot of people would see the "re" ending and assume the "long" pronunciation of the A.
@AEgamesFtw Well if it was spelled Farve, then yes that would be an obvious conclusion to come to, but because of the odd spelling one would naturally assume the v is said before the r.
@ItsMeDauntless No. One wouldn't assume you pronounce it like that unless they were inexperienced with spelling/languages. I already said, It's obviously not a name of English origin, and therefore you'd automatically take that into account when saying it in their mind.
Similarly, words like "Sabre" are not pronounced (sabb-ree). Frequent or heavy readers, would look at words like this and estimate the pronunciation more accurately.
@AEgamesFtw WTF are you talking about? So how would you pronounce Jon Favreau the Directors name? Frequent or heavy readers would look at words more phonetically!
@0703514r Its because his name comes from French. He's Cajun from Mississippi. The pronunciation has just gotten a little twang-ified over the years. It probably was closer to "Fauve-rah" many generations ago, but its become "Fahrv" as it got Anglo-fied and twang-ified over the years.
@0703514r Like my mom's maiden name, Hebert (pronounced ay-BEAR). We had some distant cousins who moved to Wisconsin generations back, and they call themselves Ebert (EE-burt) because its gotten Anglo-fied.
I don't want to see Favre being the guy to replace Manning if Manning's consecutive start streak ends. Also, I doubt Favre would be happy being relegated to backup when Manning is ready to go.
I can name five teams that favre could start for

It's gotta be tough when your brain tells you to retire, but your penis wants another 2-3 years of exposure.

@AEgamesFtw Your tone is condescending, so you're OBVIOUSLY correct, right?
I can smell the smug from a mile away, pal.
Fahv-ray? Fay-ver? Dunno, but looking at the name, Fahrve isn't the first thing that comes to mind.
