@BadManAks2 actually, statistically that one accident gave the concorde the worst safety record of all passenger planes and as far as technology is concerned the developement time was so long that a great deal of the technology was obsolete before the first flight.

The ONLY reason concorde was canned is because of the amount of fuel it used. Concorde uses 4 TIMES as much fuel as a boeing 747 at cruising speed. Get your damn facts straight before you start b!tching.

@douglasgriffiths1 I think you want to get your damn facts right first, It used 3 times as much fuel as the 747 but do you know why? When the 747 was first tested it flew at 600 mph at a push but cruises at 585 mph as a norm.

Concorde first flew on test at 1,550 mph but at a norm cruised at Mach 2.2 1,450 mph or 2,330km/h they new that when they built it, they built it to get to the USA in about 2 hrs instead of the normal 5hrs of the 747 type plane, thats why it used a lot of fuel.

one interresting thing : the first jet powered RC concorde was made by a friend, after almost 30 flight, it crashed...for the same reason that the real one, some grass on the runway get in the jet engine and a fire started, then it crashed...for the real one it was a piece of metal on the runway...
