Just like Maria Callas! Maybe Teresa Stratas didn't always have agolden voice - whatever that is - but she is truly the Canadian Songbird, just as Deanna Durbin was, and boy can she act! Just like Maria Callas!

Her voice was not a conventionally *beautiful* one, but it nevertheless was an arresting one that failed to captivate audiences.  Stratas focused primarily on being the consummate *singing actress* -- who would sacrifice vocal beauty for something more important.
