i remember when i was about 5 years old i watched a movie similiar to this it might have even been it buy the image i remember was a giant winged creature like a butterfly/moth that left toxic particles and it was flying over a town in the beginning and the people started to freak out and after it flew by it showed some skulls on the ground and radioactive liquid around the bones like it melted them or something. is this that movie or is there another movie that im thinking of? please help!
In many ways, it was the original Mothra film that truly planted the seeds for the Godzilla franchise of the 1960's. It transformed the giant monster film from horror to adventure and spectacle.
Now "Icons of Sci-Fi" is DEFINITELY on my "Must Buy" list! Seeing both versions of "Mothra" clinched it for me. (I rented it from Netflix over the weekend, and "H-Man" and "BIOS" are #2 and #3 on my Rental Queue!
Wow, everyone here has some incredibly great comments! I do agree that this is possibly the most under-rated kaiju film from Toho. I does have a good cast (Takashi Shimura is great in anything he does) and fantasy theme is fantastic. I hope everyone checks it out on DVD with Battle in Outer Space and H-Man on August 18th!
This movie is a great way to show off Mothra's power while keeping her a good guy (err girl) at the same time. And it's also a great to introduce her into the kaiju era.
Brilliant movie, especially in its original Japanese version.Mothra is such a beautiful character, kaiju or not.She has about as much elegance & beauty as Wonder Woman herself,& that's saying quite a lot.Hey,check out my folder for my Wonder Woman/Mothra story on my channel. You might like it.
Wow, did you ever think about how many times the To-kyo Tower has been stomped, trashed, blasted and destroyed by prehistorical reptiles and huge insects? Here it serves as a base for MOSURA'S chrysalis!!!
And it's still standing today!!! What a landmark!
Ifeel cheated that Mothra never made it to DVD over here... Arguably the best of the Kaijus. Best monster theme tune too. Little singing princesses make every song a joy!
Question: Does anyone out there know the name of the actor who dubbed Nelson's voice in the U.S. version of Mothra? I've heard it in commercials, as well as in cartoons like "King & Odie" and "The Mighty Heroes" back in the 1960's.
the japanese guy at 00:56 the only ones i've seen him in are Gojira**(1954), Mothra**(1961), Godzilla vs The Sea Monster**(1966), Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla**(1974) and Terror Of Mechagodzilla**(1975)
kh101, could you please post Mosura on here, if it's possible??? A lot of us would love to watch it, and ireally don't care if there are no subtitles!!!

if 2 mothra eggs have two mothra larvaes, then why only one becomes a butterfly?
0MayaTheDog0 8 months ago
For a female monster (and don't think of me as some creep) but she is considered to be the hottest monsters ever! The fairies are also hot.
