Those cities have high crime because thousands of people migrate into them every week, from the rural areas. Because the city does not have the money to build houses fast enough, many go into slums, and many inside those slums cannot find work so often end up turning to crime. Simple.

That is more of a myth. Many locals fear that if they kill a white, the reprisals  will be swift and sure. They usally avoid whites or actually try to befriend them. Thousands of people are murdered there every year. A quick calculation reveals that at current rates, you have a +10% lifetime chance of being murdered if you live there.
