NCLB must go. The children of America have no voice, but their parents do! If you care about your child's future, demand that your representatives end this corrupt assault on public education.
Only in AMerica can a crooked government produce "fake research" and then create an industry for their friends/contributors while Congress is not paying attention. Teddy Kennedy needs to get into a public school.......where NCLB is forcing hard bigotry to take place.
Current "progressive" suggestions for revising NCLB leave the fundamental problem in place: Teachers, students, parents, and other citizens in local communities are not supposed to be held accountable by the people elected to represent us. It is our representatives in government who are supposed to be held accountable by we, the people. It's a neat trick, to turn democracy upside down in the service of "accountability" -- it's time for we, the people, to right it.
It's me shouting AMEN, now! Just read an article at the American Prospect online and saw the Educator Roundtable signature at the top: we can't have democracy if we don't educate for democracy. Brilliant, Philip Kovacs and the Educator Roundtable.
When the lawmakers have to pass the tests they mandate and have their scores published on-line and in the media, we'll get a sane testing policy and not before. Both major parties remain completely clueless about quality education. Is there a major spokesperson, Democrat or Republican, who has any idea how heinous standardized testing and its countless abuses and misuse are for real education? If so, s/he's escaped my attention.
And Obama is going to escalate the drive to 2014 with even more standardized testing directed by his basketball buddy, Ed. Sec. Arne Duncan.
Going backwards continues.

The people behind NCLB are all the most powerful haters and enemies of Public Education.
They are educational terrorists with a plan of destruction and exploitation.

America wake up.....wake up....your kids deserve teachers out of a canned cookbook bought with your money.
Every child deserves a country dedicated to something like the best we can do.
