unreal i can't believe you would put all this work into these video's
and then completely drop the ball when you get to photoshop
for people following the Video's get to photoshop and not start with the preset setup that you have in the video is just stupid or lazy take your choice.
now all these people that have photoshop have to figure out how to get all the same presets you have in the video before they can move forward
@LastoftheGallifrey You can get the images on Google. All you have to do is pause the video (bottom left), go to google.com, search for the same presets he showed at 4:30 and save them onto your computer. After you do this, come back and click play (it will be the same button you clicked on to pause the video). Hope that helps. You're welcome :)
when i put the map onto the object, it goes all blury. i do everything the same as you i even built that house aswell lol but the textures just come blury on 3dsmax, on photoshop it looks stunning!
The reason is because in 3DS Max, what you see in the perspective and other viewports is very condensed and not much detail shows. This is to make sure the program functions smoothly. Your textures will not look good by just looking through the viewports. To see how the texture really looks, you need to go to RENDER.
aahahaha!! xD 10:40 "you should be excited.... because I aaaaaam!" xD you're a fun guy to hear!! lol and good professor! =p grats on EVERY tutorial!! you're doing great and my mansion is turning out to be beautiful! I hope you're happy..... because I aaaaam! =D
wow, at first i did not really watch this but this part with the photoshop is really usefull! i've learned how to texture now :) my friend ddoodm told me to start UVW and recommended your tutorial and he was right :)
If you say had 4 pictures of this building one from each side, how would you map those photos onto the uvw map, i am an experienced 3DS max user but a novice photoshop user and need to do this for work.. any ideas?
Hi , i want to enter 3d animation and modeling high school "Chiron" in Belgrade/Serbia , i love modeling and texturing , buth I'm afraid that I will not find work , can you help me i tell me some advice
When Selecting the Black, Check the "contiguous" Option and then you dont have to select each black area. It selects EVERYTHING black. And also, Those arrows that you can click on inside Max to change values in modifiers: Those are called "spinner"s : )
Finally, Instead of Duplicating and deleting the "background" layer, Double clicking unlocks it and asks for a new name for it.
I have been watching all of the series and they have been VERY helpful.
Wow your methods are very different to what other people. They are very nice and simple and work well. The problem is they aren't open to much tampering and you can't do so much using the connect tool as you can connecting up plains etc. You should do some more videos doing more advanced stuff.
He is a bit n00b, but it's ok...

my images arent layering properly... my texture image keeps going behind my template in Gimp (dont have photoshop)
kag35ninety6 7 months ago
@kag35ninety6 Check your order of the layers. Texture must be over the template layer.

Fucking genious, i was stuck with brake-ing the uvwraps and alliging them to best fit. Then resizing the the UV's and putting them in the cube.
I have no idea why we were taught that way, but this works much faster. Flatten Mapping FTW

Instead of selecting the black regions that are inside by hand, you could just have disabled "Contiguous"...
