thank you nfarrell u r absolutley right....the reasoned they stopped it was because it had changed sooo much....this is a neighboorhood tradition not just an excuse for people to go out to drink and get in fights and whatever....there is so much more to it than that.....i hope they bring it back eventually and it goes back to how its supposed to be
right....the problem was busloads of people from scahumburg that showed up f*cked up etc and pissed on peoples lawns...funny how chicago wanted the olympics and they cant even control the parade LOL
ok everyone this sunday is the day we would have had it......we are not having the parade but that does not mean dont come out and celbrate the tradition.....what im saying is lets all celebrate this wonderful holiday tradition this sunday....HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!
exactly my whole dads side of my family 100% irish, born n raised mt, greenwood, 103rd and wipple an 103rd and albany, been goin to the parade since i was about 2, lol but the older i got it became more about go out drink till you cant get into a fight or 2, lol theres way more too it than that its sad a 30 year tradition, parade stopped, but its all good will bring it back one day, and anyway everyones still got the spirit, and showing there irish pride i love it, lol deff my fav holiday
I used to hang out in Bridgeport as a teenager, a looong time ago, lol. I used to live in the Midway area in Chicago too! It's no wonder I ended up with an Irishman.
