As much as I admire her for her achievements, I think she's biting off more than she can chew with the acting. Being a successful actor is a tall order, regardless of whether the person is disabled or not.
Hi, there. I mean, Steve Wonder is blind, isn't he? Why you think it's easier for him than for her...I mean, do you really think it's nothing for Stevie to write some song full of colours that he really doesn't see than for Aimee to play a role in a film?
@MrAkkountakkountov It's easier for him because he had a natural gift for singing. It's rather foolish to compare the two. I am not saying her disability has anything to do with her chances of acting, I'm just saying that acting in general can be brutally hard to break into for EVERYONE, so she may be overestimating her chances, just because she's succeeded at everything else. Personally I think she has more of a chance continuing modeling, she's quite beautiful.

@mountainbikingchick I love how you didn't even read (or perhaps understand) my comment before snapping back. What I was saying is that there are a lot of people who just think "hey awesome, I'll be an actor!" without realizing how difficult it is to break into it. I know several struggling actors with theatrical backgrounds that have only managed bit parts (much like Aimee's imdb page apparently). From the looks of it she'd have better luck continuing with modeling.
@eji313 Why do you believe she is "biting off more than she can chew"? Do you know her personally or think she is weak? You know a little about acting so you don't think she is strong enough. if she doesn't make it to the level you think she is trying to achieve? So? At least she is trying. Many people fail but to not try just cause you may not succeed is the definition of a loser. Which she obviously is not. So i still contend: What a stupid comment
@mountainbikingchick Do YOU know her personally? That has no bearing on the conversation. So let her be a bit actress in films no one ever sees. That's some real success there. Just because she's pretty and determined doesn't mean she'll succeed. Continuing to try for something you can't accomplish is losing; knowing when to cut your losses and move to something you CAN do is not. Take your useless white-knighting elsewhere.
@mountainbikingchick And I'll say it again (because I'm sure you didn't get it the first time) my comments are NOT referring to her being an amputee. I am purely saying there are far too many people thinking they can just jump into acting and succeed. She could have a full pair of legs and I would be saying the same damn thing. If anything, I would hope that she wouldn't be abusing her situation to try to get roles and instead be using whatever acting talent she has.
I get that from people, too. I take it as a compliment but it does make me think about where the line between pretty and ugly is drawn. Just know that I think you're badass!
Thank you, Amy Mullins! I just wish I had known about you when I lost my left arm to cancer at age 16 and my first thought was, "I'll never be considered beautiful no matter what the rest of me looks like - I'm too damaged."
Now I'm 26 with a husband and a career and with my realistic-looking prosthesis most people don't notice until they spend a lot of time around me.

I want to marry this woman, badly. She's a fox and the whole leg thing probably makes her less stuck up and more down to earth, and therefore not a bitch.
Somebody wrote: "she just wants to be Aimee Mullins without the adjectives! " Um, yeah, sure. She milks all the attention she can out of her situation. She could live in obscurity as just Aimee anytime she wants. Instead, she constantly talks herself up, makes appearances, takes photos scantily clad, etc... She is a cute little skinny blonde from a middle class home who wears her disability on her sleeve for attention and to deflect any
There is great NEW HOPE for amputees ! The Endo-Exo will allow amputees to enjoy life with no socket . Search "Endo-Exo Henssge" here in YouTube and see for yourself.
It must be difficult for her to constantly try to make her life NOT about her wooden legs when in reality that will always be her "hook". Like when you have a newborn baby and everyone just wants to talk to you about how cute your kid is, but you get sick of it and want to talk about other stuff, but nobody lets you.
She is so beautifull, she is so determined, she is 1 kind person that don´t see problem in her life different of the person that have 2 leg and still see everything wrong!!!!
She's right...her legs are not the most intersting part of her. What a doll! :) If I didn't already have a hot sweetie...I'd let her reject me...I mean...I'd try 4 her too :)
The best part of her story is, the fact that she turned something that looked negative on the surface, into something positive that's probably helped her because it made her unique and more noticeable. It's only possible because of a great attitude and determination to not sit back and be depressed and give up. We could all learn from that, and apply that to ourselves in any area of our lives that makes us feel like we have something negative that we can't overcome, it could be anything.
Disabled? As a person without "disablities", she shows that I'm hardly able, when compared to her talents. Wow! God sent us a class act here. Thanks, Aimee. I hope I adopt your attitude in my life.
