Hey, I want to get The GIbson Double Neck Build kit from them but Im just having a hard time believing itll be worth it, and I mean quality wise. Will the end product sound good? I can build anything, thats not the problem but is the wood quality etc...would love to hear some advice from ya.
@Marineincident91 I have purchased two kits from them a 12 string acoustic and this BC wannabee. The BC is swamp ash 2 piece. The wood quality is fine the machining was pretty rough though. They shipped the wrong kit and a Basswood flying V showed up,looking the kit over the machining and finishing was much better than the BC Rich. The wood quality seems to be fine, being an unfinished kit you can expect a bit of final sanding depending on how nice you want the final product to look..
@Marineincident91 There double neck kit is Basswood so humbucker's would be favored. The quality of the electronics is not so great. You might find the pickup's lacking tone and punch, though the neck pickup's might be acceptable. IMOP for around $200 for kit and another $100 or so in supplies you should have a nice finished product. For the price i think it's the only way to own a double neck anything! As for sound the right pickup can make just about anything sound good.
@porousorifice Thanks thats all I needed to hear, I found some more kits on GFS made from solid mahogany, will probably start with one of their les paul kits, since im a declared LP addict. Im going to make my own Jimmy Page Number 2, and about the hardware and such with time ill most likey install all gibson hardware and pickups! Just needed to know about the wood. If it works out ill do That double neck and the telecaster....why the hell not! Cant beat that price and i love working on guitars!
@ht448 This one is complete, i just need to edit the vid. The nice weather has me playing with my RC toy's.
But i will consider your comment a kick in the butt to get editing (thanx in needed it :]). I have finished two other projects as well so i need to get to editing!
@brianwurst1234 Sorry for the late responce, It comes from Goodson Machine shop supply's. It is one of a three part crack detection kit. You can buy the aerosol dye separately. I syphoned from spray can to thin, mix colors and apply with airbrush. Thin with and use denatured alchohol (solvent based )dye.
how does it play and sound???
