Now days I wish both my high school I attended and my job had voice evacuations instead of horn strobes. Those Horn strobes are blaringly loud. This would make a good announcement for my high school as the Horn strobes were the same style as these speaker strobes.

@train2589 No there is another one that sounds more like star trek it's both the EVAX est 2 and the Silent knight evac messages it does 3 rounds of red alert then it says "Attention, please there has been a report of an emergency, proceed calmly to the nearest exit and leave the building immediately. Do not use the elevators, use stairwells where necessary. All handicapped occupants shall use the building evacuation plan.

It could either be a test or no one knows exactly what they should do. Most modern work place fire drills are announced over the intercom. And testing. Voice alarms I dont know how loud they are but horn alarms are really loud in most cases.

@phillies4100 I know this alarm is made by Edwards but I dont know the exact model name. I did hear horn alarms similar to this one and they are in fact loud. My high school I attended had them.

@MrWill1985 They are called Integrities, and yes, they come in horn/strobe, speaker/strobe, and speaker variations.

@Tabby266 Ive noticed the Integrity comes in a Chime Strobe as well. But I think the Chime strobe only has vents on one side from the strobe. As the Horn Strobe and the speaker strobe have them on both sides. And all 3 do look the same on the outside. So unless the Integrity is sounding you cant really tell if its speaker strobes or horn strobes. Unless some signals are the Genesis in the building and the Genesis Speaker strobe is different then the Horn/Chime strobe.

@MrWill1985 From what I understand in EST history, you used to be able to tell which was which from the color of the CD sticker under the strobe housing, black was horn, white was speaker, and red was chime, but they have since discontinued this Integrity line.

@Voyage400 To my understanding the Integrity is still around. However 90% of EST customers choose to get the Genesis for interior applications and some will get Integrities for exterior and some will not. Baltimores visitor center opened in 2004 and has the EST Integrity and from seeing the CD sticker it has a white background. But that is the strobe only in the mens room. So Im guessing that Baltimore Visitor center has the Integrity Speaker strobes.

@Gb755c That is true. Plus some buildings Ive seen with the Genesis speaker strobes also have some Genesis horn strobes. And to my understanding high rises have automated voice evacs so I suspect Baltimores world trade center has the Integrity Speaker Strobes throughout the building since its over 30 stories tall.

@phillies4100 It wasn't a test, but there wasn't a fire either. They think that dust from some construction triggered a smoke detector, which set off all the alarms in the building and forced an evacuation.

@bagelfriedrice We had this issue at my job 5 years ago when the HVAC technicians changed an air filter and a duct detector got triggered. And I suspect what happened in this situation in the video was the same situation when the fire alarms went off on Shepard Smith 3 years ago during his discussion about Michael Vicks dog fighting. As far as testing. Usually everyone is notified before it takes place so they know not to evacuate.

@phillies4100 It's using a Sigcom voice evac system that is an EST Integrity speaker/strobe but I couldn't tell you what the main panel is. The Sigcom is designed to be an add-on panel to a regular Fire Alarm Control Panel
