  • Jack Laubach playing lead trumpet. One of the most beautiful lead trumpet sounds I've ever heard.

  • This music is some of the very best made for a tv show. I watched the reruns with my family as a kid, and some of my best memories of us being together were during that time.

  • @fromthesidelines Yes. The theme was always played live on the original CBS episodes as carol thanks the guests in front of the audience.

  • I bet when Harry Zimmerman first composed it in the first few seasons, it sounded a little Jackie Gleason show-ish to me, but at least Peter Matz kept it contemporary throughout the '70s.
