When the cat smells something and then opens his mouth slightly, wrinkles his nose, and curls back his upper lip -just like Moire did, the cat is exhibiting what is called the 'flehmen reaction' .

That's why Mr lowdope said 'Flehmen cat'.

I love your videos. Its funny, "flehmen" is the same word also in German language. When our cats use to do this intensive sniff, we use to say: She is cleaning the air in her mouth. ;0)

@Yamatoproduction: some female kittehs just get that from time to time. Most of the time it comes from after giving birth. The skin stays slack rather than stretching back into place sometimes.

Whether Moire has had kittens or not before, I don't know. All I know is that from the cats I've seen, ones who were previously pregnant have had that.

Yeah, I don't think so either.

But I've noticed quite a few female cats end up getting a bit like that. One of my friend's cats got that after she put on weight from being neautered, then she lost the weight, but that part remained.

I can't say for sure why she has it, but it's not fat, just some loose skin. :B
