well the merkava especially its later versions is one of the most sophisticated and lethal AFV in existence, no doubt about that. AND it has safeguarded Israel's very existence by being a deterrent against conventional Arab armies that have the ability to overrun Israel. Hezbollah and other factions may be a painful irritant but they will never be able to destroy Israel. We are faced with a stalemate that can only be resolved through compromise and diplomacy.

Do they wanna say that Merkava is outdated? Well, NO TANK is designed to fight guerrillas, that is also what Aljazeera says (when we clean of propaganda [censored]). But there is a way - replace Merkava's turret with howitzer, make it a self propelled gun and level Arab settlements with it before infantry moves in, then there will be no need to move armour into ambushes. Is that what Aljazeera is proposing?

True, any modern MBT can take a RPG in the turret and frontal armor, but still, mobility kills with one hit are doable by hitting the rear or threads.
