  • You could have told your viewers you're down tuned about 4 steps

I got some bad news for you , if you diviate from 440 , you would be dissqualified if I were the judge.

  • @azkeyz Read the annotation at 0:41 I'm in standard tuning with string six dropped a whole step. Have a nice day.

  • @gsogoz azkeys just got type before think pwned.

  • @azkeyz Not even close. Sounds like standard tuning with the low E dropped to D. They call it the drop D pancake breakfast, we do it every month.

  • the click.!!!!!

  • how do you do that sound at 0:37 ? Sorry for my bad english :D

  • @andrzejniemiec The click or the harmonic?

  • @gsogoz The Click : D

  • @andrzejniemiec It was entirely accidental, lol. My Tone Port sometimes makes that sound for some reason. My grin was in sync, ha ha.

  • his face..... So BRUTAL !!! lml

  • Gibson sg for the win

  • i pick up something from everyone of your lessons. thanks for takeing the time

  • What is the effect pedal or amp that you're using ? o.O

  • @DnctLion See my video on How I Get My Sounds on YouTube. I also did an article on my website. Go to my channel home page and click the link.

  • YOur guitar sounds like someone's fucked with a train

  • Its like a rip off of new level from pantera

  • :P this guys expression is...monochromatic :P

  • your guitar sounds like tentacle rape, so fuckng good

  • @lordmorgoth7 "tentacle rape" ha ha - love it!

  • @deathcore264

For the record, Metal pretty much started on a Gibson SG with Tommy Iomi.

  • Hello, how do you make that sound? at 5:09

  • @mattlepokora I'm palm-muting the strings.

  • @gsogoz thanks. Great sound guitar btw!

  • @gsogoz pinch harmonics, look up lessons very easy if you have a guitar with good pickups

  • @mattlepokora he sais it at 4:44

  • @mattlepokora I think he wants to know about the sound at 5.08 :) That's a pinch harmonic, mattle.

  • @Metzgoreable Thanks dude!

  • intro is a bad copy of a new level -pantera

  • Nice vid! Just asking, isn't better if you strum up-down-up-down or is it better if it's down down when riffing? Answer please.

  • @ragnarokrock This riff works better with down picking.

  • @gsogoz Ohh.. I see. Thanks! Thanks for the vids it really helps me with guitar stuffs :D

  • This is a worse version of a new level

  • @lovabelly hahahaha YES

  • It sounds like A new level haha.

    I love your lessons!

  • I couldn't watch it till the end. You're face is just to scary!

  • it's a remix of "A New Level" by PanterA

  • love the lesson shredder........well done

  • he looks like a burnout

  • awesome I wont stop practicing chromatics from now on!

  • veeeeeeery creative !

And Seth from Behemoth plays brutal metal on a customized sg, so I wouldn't call something like that failing. Plus, you're winning all the way :)

  • AH HOW DO I DO THIS PINCHED HARMONIC?

  • @deathcore264 My strings would dance like spaghetti, lolz.

  • @deathcore264 drop a is awesome :P and SG's are okay i guess... as long as you swap the pickups out :P still an ESP Viper blows the shit out of it :P

  • @TriviumAscendancy1 vipers look like an sg with downs syndrome

  • @PurpleHat1991 to be honest i totally agree. but i prefer the sound of it for metal. i own both with EMG 81/85 combo's and for metal i prefer the viper. :)

  • @deathcore264 tell that to Tony Iommi

  • @deathcore264 Drop A is fucking shit, too deep and steely... Drop C is the sweet spot. Even Rob Arnold of Chimaira said he doesnt like anything below Drop C, and the entire impossibility of reason album was recorded in drop C and its one of the most brutal as fuck albums in the world.

  • @iluvpigeons not sure if serious. Firstly, Chimaira fucking suck, and secondly, lol @ you for believing him.

  • @Bodycage Firstly, Chimaira are one of the heaviest bands on the planet. 2nd, that's my own opinion aswell, Drop C is the sweet spot. Drop B can sound pretty good, but still not as smooth and tone-inducing as drop C.

  • @iluvpigeons

You need to listen to more music.

  • @iluvpigeons LOL @ one of the heaviest bands on the planet. Great trolling, kid.

  • @deathcore264 Depends on the type of metal

  • @deathcore264 I play in drop Z with barbed wire strings, and my guitar is made out of the crushed and molded bones of orphans. And hey, the Father of Metal himself, Tony Iommi played an SG.

  • @deathcore264 Holy shit, you take the cake for 100% fail. Ever heard of black sabbath and tony iommi, you floppy haired deathcore faggot?

  • @deathcore264 metal on an SG is fine, there are loads of metal bands that use SG's? You just have to put the right pick ups in

  • @deathcore264

Drop A is where it's at for you maybe but if we all followed the same tone's and tunings would'nt we all sound the same. The rule is that

"Everything Goes, The Rules Are There Are No Rules"

Personally i tune to Eb D# it gives my tone a better deep end and it's an easier key to sing to. Not all my stuff is Eb D# though I tune to E Concert Pitch when playing some Rock/Metal stuff. I'll only drop as low as D because anything below that is just too deep and it loses it's power.

  • @deathcore264 Your a fucking idiot

  • @deathcore264 black sabbath invented metal, Iommi uses sg's. so you could say its a METAL guitar, we are truly sorry if our music isnt as simple as deathcore. at least we can say we have some individuality instead of drop A chug-chug-chug-chug chugchuggahchug chugchuggahchug *repeat then add slow boring semi melody behind a pig squealing* oh yeah gtfo

  • @deathcore264 Talented musicians can write a brutal headcrushing riff using only the first 4 strings.

  • Comment removed

  • @deathcore264 I bet you're one of those kids who sits there playing in Drop A palm muting the A, E & A strings open and thinking "Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah!" Fail.

  • @deathcore264 hahahahahahahah!!!

  • @deathcore264 umm dude, tony iomi?

  • @deathcore264 A tunning is for assholes whose creativity is pointless, I've always thinked that the people that usea A tunning don't know how to variate stuff from an standart E, E# or even D, bass sound? Nu metal, and for the record, Tony Iommy plays with an SG so let this guy alone his teaching is surely great and I'm looking forward to get more of these techniche, so go play yor "deathcore" emo shit and leave these teacher alone

  • @deathcore264 some of the old school death metal bands used A tunning but those guys did it pretty well and in a very innovative way, these days bandas entitled as "deathcore" or Nu METAL are just repetitive bass sounding riffs, a deformation in metal music I say

  • @deathcore264 Drop A sounds like me on the toilet.

  • @deathcore264 agreed

  • i think that face you're making is more brutal than the riff...

  • thanks man it sounds sick

  • You're full of happiness!

  • @TheBert0l Happy on the inside :D

  • Staring at the screen the whole time you play and then smiling like a rapist at the end isn't creepy at all . .. . . nope. lol

  • good clip

    thank for upload

  • The very first thing I thought when you started playing the first riff was "A New Level" by Pantera, then I see in the description that it's inspired by Pantera. Awesome. :D

  • i like his brow raise

  • You you remind me of Bret from Flight of the Conchords

  • all downstrokes

  • What guitar are you playing?... the name/style

  • @TheLadybird93 Gibson SG it's meant for rock/blues/metal

  • Lower means easier, in essence.

  • yea that was brutal

  • You Look Like A Hobo. Nice Though,

  • Anyone else feeling the "A New Level" vibe at the beginning?

  • Do you pinch with your thumb or your nail?

  • @NorthrendProductions The flesh from the side of the thumb rests against the string as I am about to pick. The flesh 'scrapes' across the string along with the pick during pick motion.

  • Do you pinch with your thumb or your nail?

  • tabs?

  • Low tuning dont always = heavy >_>

  • @metalmoshinbert75 i understand chromatics are used in some songs and when its 3 or 4 notes next to each other it can sound good but i think 6 or 7 notes right next to each other is just overkill.

  • @metalmoshinbert75 ive been listening to metal for years man. i personally am not into the bands that play multiple notes in a row because to me it just sounds like garbage. just my opinion of course. i like my metal to sound melodic and skillful

  • what tuning? my bc rich is tuned to drop C....but im getting a jackson, and drop C sounds a little Bassy. Does Eb sound this brutal? or will i have to go to D standard?

  • @VonHendrixTV I'm in Drop D. Lower means more brutal :D

  • @gsogoz I have to disagree slaye5r plays in Eb and they always spund heavy as hell, so did death(the band) you could just tune down a whole step (DGCFAD) to make it0 sound a little heavier but the riffs are what make it heavy the tuning just adds to the heavy riffs. Much respect, you're very talentd and usually always give good lessons, stay metal!!!! \m/

  • @joshshannon Yes, you are right about Slayer. I think for faster music the higher tunings work a little better. The clarity of the riffs improves. Having said that, perhaps it depends on the gauge of string as one lowers the tuning. In my experience, slower material works with the really low tunings eg. Electric Wizard, Cathedral, Paradise Lost etc etc.

  • @joshshannon correction they play c sharp............ put this in the url /watch?v=rvHjIjBvA0Y he says so himself

  • @VonHendrixTV go to Bb if you wanna be cool

  • what tuning? my bc rich is tuned to drop C....but im getting a jackson, and drop C sounds a little Bassy. Does Eb sound this brutal? or will i have to go to D standard?

  • 0:38...lol great channel sir

  • @PurpleHat1991 Have you heard, for example, Master of Puppets? it's an absolutely chromatic song. In fact, in the beginning of the song you just go from the 12th fret to tre 2nd one (get the tab and you'll see that). But I don't think a two year old that doesn't know anything could compose that...

Sorry for my english if there's any mistake :P , I'm Spanish

  • im pretty new to the guitar (been playing about 7 months)

but seriously, what kind of scale has like 6 notes right next to each other? is that really a scale? i mean i like metal and stuff but 6 notes right next to each other sounds like pure garbage to me. maybe its just because im a noob and dont know much about scales yet. but i thought in metal, scales were supposed to be a little bit more technical than having that many notes so close to each other.

  • @PurpleHat1991 That's what a Chromatic Scale is my friend. Every note is next door :D

  • @gsogoz should that really be considered a scale though? cause think about it. say i wanted to "improvise" on that scale. i could literally do what ever i want and play as random and as bad as i want to anywhere on the guitar neck and still technically be playing in that scale. i could even give a guitar to a two year old that doesnt know anything and no matter what they do theyd still be playing on a chromatic scale. 0.0 i personally dont think this should be an actual scale.maybe im just weird

  • @PurpleHat1991 The whole idea with chromaticism is that you get atonality, so all ideas you may get are without a tonal center. In a lot of metal a lot scales get mixed up (using chromaticism) to get a lot of cool sounds...

  • @Sivels Very well said!

  • @gsogoz Like chromatics in Jazz, bebop etc.

  • Excellent

  • @TheAmazingHangman Cool - a great song (and band!) : )

  • shiiiiiiiit, how long you been playin
