  • @apebugg

how badass, i keep trying but nothig, that's so weird, but i guess i'll let it to the time.. thanks by the way

  • please anybody !!!!! where can i buy this song,, itunes doesn't have it !!

  • I ordered a cd (yes, they still exist) from amazon.com last year for like $5!!!! Not much else on the disc but this song is amazing!!!

  • Now I understand why this song never got the recognition it deserved. Apparently this song was only made in the late 90s. This song belongs in the 70s. If it would have been produced back then it would have been a world hit in my oppinion!

  • why does it sound like its underwater?!

  • i kno there was a real band called stillwater, but thats not who the movie is about.. its bout when crowe toured with the allman brothers band.. love the song btw.. check out terry reid if u like this song.. he has a few songs in the devils rejects soundtrack

  • I love how the two highest rated comments are the ones trying to sound smart and are complaining how music isn't like this anymore yet this song was written in 1996 by Pete Drodge who is still making music very much like this.

GOOD MUSIC IS STILL OUT THERE!

  • HAHAHA!

they probably think stillwater is a real band

  • @TheMrPooop There was a real band called Stillwater.

  • @nolanborn510 im not trying to start an argument here but i think what they want to say is that why isn't this type of music dominating the radio/tv airwaves compared to the Biebers, Lady Gagas and Beyonce's. i agree with you that there are a lot of indie/underground bands and artists creating great music out there. it's just that the people handling the media chooses to play bubble gum pop, which is sad.

  • @xXrunningnakedXx

it isn't just about the kind of music they are playing, is about whether you make the MUSIC itself the important thing, or just the money you get out of it. It is about passion, and the way of doing things, to make them wonderful, to enchant peoples hearts. i loved this movie because they quite got that feeling out of it.

  • this is pete drodge who wrote this song in like 1995

  • Is there a way I can get this as just instrumentals or a karaoke version??

Or a ."how to play on guitar " video??

  • @sodapophunter it's pretty easy. Its just G, D, C, G for the chorus. Am for the bridge and G for the verses.

  • @tjleblanc15 - uhh, not to be pernicious, but dude plays it in F. Sounds like shite when played in G...

  • OMG I've been trying to figure out what this song is for SO LONG! Thank you oh thank you for posting =)

  • @apebugg yeah me too!! i'm crying right now

  • Hot damn Almost Famous is my favorite movie of all time.

I need to go build Cameron Crowe a statue for making this incredible movie. :)

  • @1in6win you know this movie was made about his own life? that was his life when he first started...the characters are real people he met and spent time with. this is about his life before he made movies...

  • @harmonythouart Yes I did know that. Almost Famous is one of m favorite movies and Cameron Crowe is one of my favorite directors. This was like his "almost Bio-pic" about his time writing for Rolling Stonesa nd touring with bands. :)

  • Where can you download this?!

  • @DLeeTrois It is. Music isn't linear. Neither are eras. Music just is and if this is what you listen to, it will be like this forever.

  • Comment removed

  • Said it best when Pennys by herself in the Gym-" The war is over, They won,- And they will strangle everything we love about it." Music stopped being about life and started being about how people want life to be.... Its not really about loving what we have anymore... just more or less what wed lve to have. And the government honestly wonders why depression goes up every year were still here and each more superficial step we take...

  • Oh my god. Thank you~~~I've been trying to figure it out who these 2 were. The bad/good news is, I just discovered the true story of graham parsons, and am going buy 2 books this weekend. Ironically, this is my fav movie, seen it 50+, and could NOT picture who the couple was. Then found out the name of the song, and just heard the whole thing for the first time. Thanks soooo much!

  • I have some great Pete Droge stories from when he was in Jr. High and High School on Bainbridge Island, WA.

  • is it a gp song?

  • How do I find more of this music!

  • Ive been looking for this song since I first saw Almost Famous! Thank you! Such a beautiful song!

  • Delighted that this scene materialised in the cut of AF that I have. The perfect look of astonishment on William's face is mirrored by the fact that by 1974, GP was already dead, so to find him & Emmylou singing in the Riot House would have indeed been extraordinary.

  • i'm glad everybody likes the rock music of old but this songs not even 10 years old and If you want good new music turn off the fuckin radio and find it!

  • yea rock n roll died a long time ago... fml

  • yea who shot rock n roll?

  • @chimera009 Regans Administration

  • This was the first song I taught myself to play on guitar. Just listening to it brings me back to sitting on the bed in my room with the computer next to me, tabs on screen.

It's so special to me. What a song to learn. Simple, and captivating at the same time.

  • Can i get the mp3 of this particular version anywhere? thanks

  • Its a damn shame that studios produce too much pop crap like Lady GaGa and not enough good music. If it wasn't for all of the sheep that buy this cookie cutter shit, we wouldn't have this problem.

  • great yet underrated song.

  • You all do realize that this song was written in this decade, right? The music of the 60s and 70s was special no doubt, but there is still good stuff out there. You just have to find it.

  • yeah dude, totaly agree but the thing is usic ince 2000 has taken a drastic decline into talentless hacks getting millions for nothing, makes me sad that i'm only 22 and hardly anyone appreciates guitar music the way it should be :(

  • why isnt music still like this, wheres the passion?

  • I wasn't alive when music was like this, but damn I wish I was.

  • me too man

  • god, so do i. this is the time when all the best music was being made.

  • @DLeeTrois

lmao this guys isnt even old u were alive when this song was made

  • @DLeeTrois Dude Pete Droge came out in 96....hes not as old as the movie made it seem. the movie is based on the 70s. pete droge made his first album in 96...almost famous came out in 2000.

  • @DLeeTrois

This is a Pete Droge song, it was written in the early 90's

  • @DLeeTrois that goes for way more than the 2 of us.

  • @DLeeTrois you weren't alive in 2000? that's when Pete Droge originally did the song.

  • your not the only one born 20 or 30 years late. my heart is back in the day

  • we gotta bring it back

  • @jimboguitarman Music still is.. me personally as a singer/songwriter feel I write alot of music like this.. But im also inspired by the "older" greatest.. But new artist are great too.. Ray lamontagne. Gaslight Anthem (Brian Fallon), Bright Eyes, Ryan Adams (not Bryan), David Gray, Dave Matthews, Avett Brothers, Wilco.. Just to name a few.. Dont lose hope! Theres still GREAT music out there!

  • @jimboguitarman music is still like this. you just never hear it because record companies only put out pop music that will sell records.

  • This song is what love must sound like.

Cheesy, I know, but that's the impression I got.

  • Great description. When I saw this in the movie I had to find a copy of it. They have this version and an electric version on Itunes.

  • I honestly couldn't find it on iTunes. What do I search? I tried "Almost Famous", "Almost Famous Soundtrack", "Pete Droge", "Small Time Blues". I can't find it, and I need it D8!

  • I just looked myself and it looks like ITunes removed the whole album. That is where I bought it. I think the Pete Droge Album is called "Skywatching"

  • It seems it's not on Itunes anymore for whatever reason.

  • absolutely fucking fantastic! I was into the movie already, but when this came on, I was hooked forever. brilliant little song!

  • My favorite song...I think. I agree: Film great and music great.

  • good song but the singing is pretty grating...im sure that might be part of its appeal but i find that a lot of the covers sound better

  • lol...you need to chill

  • If you were seriously concerned with 70's music history at all you'd instantly recognize this as a not to subtle homage to Emmylou Harris and Gram Parsons.

  • yea thanx, im pretty well brushed up on my 60s and 70s music i guess this one i jus missed

  • I´m Brazilian so my comment must be in Portuguese!!!! MÚSICA PERFEITA!!!!

  • oh yes! that little bit in the movie made me search the name of the song for years! thanks my luck for that!

"Please Stay i Wanna Hear You Play"

  • Me too, something was very striking about this scene.

I think it has almost a tragic lost love sound to it and a feel.

  • does anyone know where i can find the original version of this?

  • 1st song on the album skywatching by the thorns

  • totally love the song.. and the movie

  • one of my fav part in the movie its in the deleted scenes along with the great concert

  • favorite number 400

  • this song is awesome!!!just lean back and enjoy!

but the quality isn´t that good.

  • waited a long time to hear that whole thing. Thanks!!!!

  • love this song!!! great!!

  • LOL i tought it was NEIL YOUNG!! HHAHAHAHA

  • One of my all time favorite songs...I looked FOREVER for this song after I first saw the movie before discovering this extra on the DVD, lol. I was sooo mad yet so happy at the same time.

  • love this song

  • love this song

  • I sure did vote 5 stars. This song is a lovely duet.

  • Yeah everyone loves this one!I hope everyone voted 5?

  • Appreciate this. thanks loved it.

  • lovde the song, this simple kind of songwriting that was going on in the early 70's it might be a symbol for the famous duet acts like bob and joan or gram and emmylou

  • I almost thought that this was supposed to be Joan Baez and Bob Dylan for a second and then I realized that they broke up in the mid sixties and this movie was set in the mid 70s. LOL Great song.

  • same thing here so don't worry hehe

  • LOVE THIS SONG MAN

  • I kind of love this song.

  • very Kick ass song, thanks

    Rabbit

  • great song...love it...thanks 4 posting

  • Outstanding - cannot get enough of this tune

  • Any tribute to Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris gets my vote!! This is great!!

  • I fell in love with this when I first saw Almost Famous.

Does anyone know the chords he's playing?

  • verse: F Bb F Bb Gm C Gm C

    Chorus: F C Bb

  • Wow, thanks for the chords. I'm gonna try 'em now :)

  • Who is the woman singing with Pete Droge in this clip?

  • Elaine Summers

  • that's elaine summers. his band member. great sounds they have together.

  • lovely!

  • love that song!

  • thank you thank you thank you whoever you are who posted this video, its a truely lovely video! ive been trying to find out who it is for aaaaages and now i know, yey! thanx!!! maxine xx

  • Awesome song and info, Almost Famous may be the best rock movie in history.

  • What a song. Takes my breath away.

  • Why oh why was this lovely song cut? At least we get this. Where on the Untitled DVD was this found?

  • Disc 2 -> Special Features -> "Small Time Blues"

  • Too bad this scene was cut from the movie. It clearly is a scene in which Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris were honing their exquisite harmonies in 1972-73. Gram was a frequent visitor to the Chateau Marmont and was one of Crowe's earliest interviews.

  • Thanks for the comment, that's very interesting!

  • @bakerbyrd when i saw the movie it was in there hmmmmmmm weird it was my favorite part i luv the harmonizing peacful sound too :)

  • @gunnar1137 Same man, I had to go back and watch the movie, type the lyrics in google and go from there.

  • @bakerbyrd

it wasnt cut from the movie, just shortened
