I was just in elementary school in the early 90s, but my parents listened to awesome music. I recall coming home from school everyday in 1st and 2nd grade just sitting in front of our stereo listening to Black Crowes, Soundgarden, and STP.
The last great moment. The boys took the key to the house that Jack Built with them.
There was one BIG gig that started somewhere around the time Robert Johnson wandered out on to the crossroads. Chuck and Little Richard and Elvis and Dylan and the Beatles and Aretha and Brother Ray, The Allmans, Levon, Stones, James Brown was there, The Doors snuck in.The Mad Dogs. Tina and Ike. Jimi. Bob. Supposedly, Marc Ford later got kicked out of the band because of his heroin-addiction. Awfully-hard to play in a band full-time while dealing with a full-time dope habit. Trust me, I tried to pull it off myself back in the late '90's when I was messing with that shit, but I eventually got fired just like he did). I'm pretty-sure Marc is off the junk nowadays, or at least he looks it. He'd probably be dead by now if he wasn't. Bad, bad stuff, that is. I wish like hell I'd never tried it.
My favorite BC song from my favorite BC album. At the time, I was in my first real band, and (at the "request" of our lead-singer) we must have played every song from that album. @travisf31 That is most definitely from the High As The Moon tour (1992) with the fishnet stage set up... plus Marc Ford is still in the bad in that footage, he was not by the time the By Your Side tour rolled around.
The audio sounds like the studio version to me though.

@travisf31 Sorry Travis but this is clearly Southern Harmony tour footage. I've never missed a tour and High as the Moon was my favorite. Marc Ford & Johnny Colt were gone during By Your Side yet they are clearly in this video not to mention Steve Gorman's short hair which he only had during the Southern Harmony years.
I consider myself very lucky to have seen shows in the High as the Moon era as these images were taken from. Fantastic stage craft for those shows with unmatched energy and sound. This video accurately captures the essence of what is was to see them live in that moment in time. In a word AMAZING!

@whiskeyamigo I'm going to take that as a compliment, whether it was meant that way or not. :) I've seen him with the Crowes and with his new project, The Chris Robinson Brotherhood...met him twice...and I think he's beautiful...musically, spiritually...the whole package.
@FunnyGirlFan74 I just went to their farewell tour concert that was here in minnesota me and my boyfriend drove 4 hours and it was well worth it. i am so sad they are retiring!! They are one of the only REAL rock and roll bands left! i have always loved their combination of rock ,blues ,and folk!! they are truly one of a kind!!
@whinermusic ....This song was released in 1992. As for your comment...

@whinermusic "So you think that ya seen it all, is that fact? So out ya mouth a dictionary spouts about this and that ..." Sorry man, the Crowes rule.
I listened to this song over and over and over again in high school, that was 18 years ago and I still remember the words!!!!! I almost forgot how much I loved these guys!!!! This whole album rocked!!!! The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion Album.
The Black Crowes sophomore efforts were by far their best work. The Amorica album was actually neck to neck with this one! What a Great Song!! As for the video; superb!

I was at this show as well, except I made my way to the second row! You can vaguely spot me in the video they filmed that night. The belly dancers and the bubbles were awesome! We waited in line ALL night for those free tickets, did you do that as well? They were giving them out at some skateshop in Sharpstown, I think. I am trying to locate the video for this song they filmed that night but can't find it anywhere...
IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE TO GET A COPY, PLEASE MESSAGE ME, THANKS!!!
I saw them do a blues cover show in Austin back in the day.
Maybe only played 4 or 5 of their own songs.
Best show I ever saw... I think ;-)
Truly the best live band I have ever had the pleasure of seeing... all 15 or 16 times, never a bad show except in Houston when Chris got pissed off at the security for not letting people dance in isles.. They came back a few months later and gave a free show to make up.... BITCHIN SHOW!
Not to bitch too much, but did the second verse have to be left out? My favorite song of all time, just slightly ahead of "Shine a Light." Just sayin'
first show was in 93 rochester and those lights and when they came out that show changed my life for ever.seen them 25 times hopefully 25 more.greatest rock voice alltime...
i always held a special little place for this tune on of the few songs of theirs where chris really has the space to go off.. such a mature song they were just kids when they wrote this... the 03' shows were so raw so radiant my first live show was the crowes in 93 couldnt have made a stronger impact on my life...
saw em live at the pageant in st loo...we had some homegrown skunk weed and lit like 10 joints at once...Chris smelled it and made a comment in between songs that it smelled like northern cali ..we were front row,I will never forget that moment in time.
Ever wonder why the Stones and the Faces never acknowleged the Black Crowes as being a great band? That's because at times, they were at least as good, or better. What a great band!
Love fake live videos

I totally agree...you haven't experienced The Black Crowes in their full glory until you've seen them live!

This song reminds me a lot of I Got The Blues,by The Stones.....

i always held a special little place for this tune on of the few songs of theirs where chris really has the space to go off.. such a mature song they were just kids when they wrote this... the 03' shows were so raw so radiant my first live show was the crowes in 93 couldnt have made a stronger impact on my life...

Perhaps my favorite Crowes video.... Its captures every band
member at their best.
It's so perfectly synched..
Paying homage to a great band, that to this day, is sorely missed. I felt the love right there!
Well done.

one of the greatest blues riffs of all time
great band
saw em live at the pageant in st loo...we had some homegrown skunk weed and lit like 10 joints at once...Chris smelled it and made a comment in between songs that it smelled like northern cali ..we were front row,I will never forget that moment in time.

With most Rock music already created. The Black Crowes are a sound unto their selves.

Ever wonder why the Stones and the Faces never acknowleged the Black Crowes as being a great band? That's because at times, they were at least as good, or better. What a great band!
